Commish Discusses Mudbug Shootout

Mississippi Commissioner of Agriculture Andy Gipson blamed the criminal element for the shootout that took place at the Mudbug Festival Saturday night.  He made the remarks at a press conference this morning. Watch the fun for yourself in the video posted below as he declared war on crime.

No hat...no watch. Can't take this seriously without the head gear.

It appears that Andy is showing the leadership that the state's "chief law enforcement officer" should be doing. (For those of you who just got off the boat, that would be the Attorney General. She has been too busy suing China.)

this is what leadership sounds like.

governor gipson!

Has the Secretary Of Mudbugs and Agriculture

gotten around to blaming anyone for the Express grain fraud and fiasco yet?

Or is he too busy picking low hanging fruit?

This seems pretty shortsighted. This district isn’t all of Jackson. I fear Capitol Police just are not built for this.

I’m sure the yutes are shaking in their hi tops.

Regarding the comment about Express Grain, Commissioner Gipson already put that issue to pasture by assisting farmers with their claims against Express Grain Terminals to recoup their losse. So deal with that accurate fact!!

@1:24–go back to counting your chickens. You have done your PR job for your boss.

Capital Police are busy running from the ghosts on their beats. What they gonna do at the first crack.

Gipson's talikng about special judges for the Capitol Complex Improvement District to speed up prosecyutions of those who are accused of committing violent crimes?

He needs to stick to what he's good at: The State Fair big punkin contest and properly regulating state licensed grain warehouses!

Your claim that Comissioner Gipson has done his job by assisting farmers to get pennies on their dollars, for grain they sold or stored at a FAILED state regulated grain warehouse, when none other than Andy 'All Hat no Cattle' Gipson's Department of Agriculture was the statuatory but apparently totally out to lunch regulator of the State licensed grain warehouse is laughable.

Why does the state host and promote carnivals?

Anonymous said...

Free admission to the carnival was an error.

He can’t do any worse than the mayor at addressing the crime issue. Glad he cares enough to try.

Anonymous said...

It required everyone to have great restraint to keep oneself from exploding into a “racist” (realist) tirade over this nonsense!

Finally! This is what actual leadership sounds like!
Great job Andy! Thankful he cares enough to speak the truth about the horrible crime destroying Jackson.

Andy Gibson deep voice makes my heart just melt.

The entire fiasco at Festibug lies on Ole Andy! He put incompetent players in place. The security has gone down drastically at that venue since 2020. If he himself had felt safe there wouldn’t be a VIP tent where all of the SECURITY sits, stands and eats. From the videos there was no continuity of uniforms amongst the security and that in itself is a issue when you can’t distinguish the good guys from the bad! He has turned every event into “Look at me, I’m Andy G” without giving the utmost weight to the safety of the citizens of Mississippi. Sad to say it but I think he has done that venue in. Peppa Pig even went to Stankin Rankin. My Daddy always said don’t let the preacher tell you how to vote and don’t let the politician tell you how to pray. I don’t trust anything Andy says !

3:29pm has a huge revelation. The Mudbug Festival was free admission?!? That explains why so many Jackson youngsters were there to hear Blue Oyster Cult bang out those rockin’ tunes from the late 70’s and early 80’s.

Poor planning at the wrong location certainly helped create this unsafe environment. Promoter running for legal cover…

Isn’t this the “guns in church “ guy? Looser. Get freaking lost

Anonymous said...

I am confused. Gipson supports open carry by everyone breathing and then a shootout occurs. What is the problem he is trying to articulate? That not enough people were carrying guns on state property?

Sure wish some of the people who are bent out of shape and blaming everyone at the fairgrounds would put a smidgen of the blame on the thugs who did the shooting. I can see why there is so many shooting in Jackson. It is always some other person fault.

Andy, Shad, Lynn and to an extent- Tate, really go out of their way to really reach high and grab the low hanging fruit. And by low hanging fruit, I mean the fruit that has fallen on the ground.

"We had MULTIPLE law enforcement officers on the scene." HAHAHA I guess he is counting Jim Armstrong with both of his pistols as 2 people. I am shocked he did not take a few of them out.

What a huckster.

This is just damage control. You can’t fix Hinds judicial system without changes to state law. He is embarrassed that every thug in Jackson took advantage of free admission to a festival. What the hell else were they to do that night? It won’t happen again because nobody is ever going to return to these events.

Oh brother where art thou? Andy, you have a role waiting on you if there is ever a remake of that classic. I hope it is set in the 30s again. You are a shoo in.

Wow! First and foremost to address the ignorance in these postings-the fairgrounds are under the purview of the Dept of Agriculture and Commerce. Mr Gipson is well within his lane to address this issue, be angry and demand accountability and change. Three young perpetrators came to an event on state property with the intent to shoot people is neither laughable nor is it a joking matter. Have we become so desensitized and callous to the prevalence of violence and murder in this area that this becomes the norm and a joke? Should we all presume this is a lost cause? I’m sorry, but the events that occurred over the weekend should enrage people. It should raise a five alarm fire for our citizens to demand more accountability and action from the city of Jackson’s elected officials, local law enforcement agencies (Hinds SO and JPD) as well as our state legislators to do more. What is being done to address the enormous increase in violent crime? And even non-violent crime such as auto theft? The state of Mississippi and Department of Agriculture and Commerce have invested a lot of money in renovating the Trademart and area fairgrounds to bring more events, entertainment, etc. to the area. And how can they possibly do this with the potential threat of crime and lawlessness. At least Mr. Gipson gives a rip, which cannot be said for others in leadership and public service in the state’s capitol.

how much $ did cowboy Andy get from the carnival folks.....?

Anonymous said...

@11:39 Crime has been rampant in Jackson for a very long time! Most Mississippi citizens thought it a waste of money to remodel, revamp or rebuild that Trade Mart. Cowboy Andy doesn’t want accountability from leaders and law enforcement in the area he is deflecting on the responsibility he bears for this travesty. The security aspect (which he was over) was poor at best.Security was so
Unorganized he cancelled the event for Sunday. So much crime happens around that Fairgrounds everyday and we don’t hear a peep from him until his name/agency can be listed on the law suits! He is a day late and a dollar short.

Not one post blaming the breeders who created these feral animals, or the animals for thier actions.

You cannot fix this nightmare because the voters are too ignoreant to see the root of the problems.

You can only hope to contain these dregs of society to Jackson.

Who was responsible for hiring security and how many security officer were working the event when the infraction took place?

Where gang expert cattle investigator Fox ?

@2:00 pm probably watching it unfold from the cameras at the JPD watch center. Where he double dips and Andy let’s him.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
