Will He or Won't He Run for Governor?

State Representative Robert Foster will make a special announcement Tuesday night.  The Republican has been dropping some major hints recently that he will run for Governor.  The invitation is posted below.

It is bad news for Tate Reeves to have an ultra right opponent in the GOP primary especially since there are still 2 big name Republicans who may primary him as well.

Anonymous said...

Those north Mississippi counties are not nearly as big as they think they are. Will be a nice lesson for the delegation.

Anonymous said...

www.foster4ms.com Hmmmmm

Anonymous said...

Never heard of him. But then again, I had never heard of Gray.

Anonymous said...

Guess he wants Hood for Governor?

Anonymous said...

6:09 PM I want Jim Hood unless Howard Sherman runs.

Anonymous said...

When is the last time somebody from one end of the state or the other won a state-wide race? We don't need a Memphis suburbanite as governor.

Tate ran against a far-superior candidate from the coast last time and cleaned his clock.

Anonymous said...

I’ll vote Foster over Tate already...in all honesty I hope the republicans in this state don’t vote for the establishment candidate and really resist voting for Tate because of familiarity

Anonymous said...

Hope he doesn’t plan to run on his legislative record. Nada.

Anonymous said...

Will he or won't he?

Who cares? Three year member of the esteemed MS Legislature, with nothing to show for it. Plans to run using social media - thinking all the world operates like his millenium friends. Before the first of March, likely to be a few folks on both sides of the ticket; the ones that will make August interesting are the black Dems whose presence will make Hood have to expose his Democratic beliefs to the world; something he has been able to avoid for the past decade.

Anonymous said...

Does he support the President, his Tariffs and his MALA agenda?

Anonymous said...

Robert Foster comes from a deep-pocket, kind, and generous family in Desoto County. He is a bright young man who has integrity. Good for him for putting himself out there. The world needs more men like this!

Anonymous said...

Man, it’d be hard to vote for Tate. Don’t know Foster but hope he runs.

Anonymous said...

Tate is a dork.

Anonymous said...

I guess Tater has been getting groomed for the job. I want the R's to succeed, but Phil was very average and I think Tater will be worse. We very much need a quality conservative to run. Don't know who that is, but not Tater. Certainly not Hoodwink.

Anonymous said...

Tater, if you are there, politics is not your thing. I have been friends with your uncle Larry for a lot of years and promised to support you, but you need to take a lesson from Bush 41 and have some humility and friendship. The best thing you could do for the State, for the party, and for your family is just go back to banking. You haven't the right personality for politics.

Anonymous said...

Is this one of the morons in Desoto County that won because Empower Ms gave them a bunch of money to run and now no one in the legislature can stand them and they have zero influence? Yep

Anonymous said...

Congratulations to Dist. 28. You just got rid of Foster! So happy for you! 4 more to go.

Anonymous said...

Of course he’s going to run! You think he’ll pull everybody together to announce he’s got a bogger stuck in his left nostril? Don’t think so. I wonder who Philbilly and the Repukeican establishment will back? Everyone I know in the Repuke party and the Donkeycrat party say the same damn thing: Anybody but Tate! I’ll vote for Hood. He’s the best I’ve seen so far.

Anonymous said...

MS is dead last...in every metric.

Dead last.

20 plus years of R control with zero to show for it.

Why is any R even a viable candidate?

Anonymous said...

Foster's another wealthy nobody that now wants to live off of the taxpayers like so many other worthless idiots that have no talent, yet keep getting re-elected in Mississippi. Foster couldn't care less about all Mississippian, only those who greet him with the "snotty toddy".

Velesha Williams is looking interesting.

It is bad news for Tate Reeves to have an ultra right opponent in the GOP primary ...

Bad news because an impatient no track record 3/4ths first-term Prima Donna Freshman House member is running?

GET SERIOUS.

You boobs shilling for Hood are idiots.

Anonymous said...

I don't think folks are shilling for Hood, I think a lot of folks think Tate is in trouble even if its a Truck Driver.
Republicans just figured out across the country that money and negative campaigning don't win elections.
What does he have to offer the state, look at what happen with the last time the Republicans crowned the heir apparent, we ended up with Bryant who for the last eight years has managed to keep us 1st in all things negative and last in things positive. Do we want more of the same or do we want to try something new, and I don't mean Hood either.

Anonymous said...

There was NO blue wave.

Anonymous said...

Never heard of him.

Anonymous said...

Robert Foster: every bit as crazy and narcissistic as Chris McDaniel, but half as smart. Sounds just like someone Mississippi would elect governor. Go Mississippi, Keep Rolling Along!

Anonymous said...

From my friends up in the northern half of the state, the speak highly of him. They say he comes from good stock. Treats people fairly, and a generous man. I guess that means he is prepared for the Dems and Establishment Republicans like Phil and Tate to start trying to rip him apart. From what I have seen of him, I like him. A better option for the R's than Tate. If the party were really paying attention to those who plan to vote R, they may want to try and take a step back from Tate and listen to this kid and hear what he says. But I know MS, and they will try and run him out before election time and run their bot Tate.

Anonymous said...

10:13....there's 4 or 5 that fit that description and yes the legislature hates them, but don't we keep harping on getting new blood to challenge the establishment? The legislature may hate them but their constituents love them.

But it shouldn't go to their head because winning a state wide race does require a lot of bridge building, not bridge burning.

Anonymous said...

Foster is Trump’s candidate. Tate is not. Reason why a goode man tried to offer Foster 1 million to run for another statewide.

Rankin Republican Woman said...

Tate is part of the blue wave. Not a true Republican/conservative. Foster is a true conservative. A more more attractive candidate than the red headed dictator.

Anonymous said...

Can’t vote for Hood, don’t want to vote for Tate. I’m certainly open to listening to a candidate who hasn’t been indoctrinated by the existing “leadership “.

Anonymous said...

Did someone say “bridge building”? Did they mean driveway building? Hello, Tater, we haven’t forgot. It’s just a matter if time before Tate’s rabid fake news PR person starts spewing bs on this blog...ten, nine, eight....

Anonymous said...

I would love to see a credible Republican challenger to prevent the disaster that Tate Reeves will be as our governor, but this guy isn't it. He may be a fine young man with lots of potential, but he has zero name recognition outside his district. I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't being encouraged to run to help discourage Chris McDaniel from entering the race.

Anonymous said...

How many votes did Tater Tot buy with that new taxpayer funded driveway? Asking for a friend.

Anonymous said...

So, please, will the anti-Tate savants tell us on what issues will Foster run to the right of Reeves? Its too easy to just barf up your hate for Reeves anonymously here. Forecast where Foster flanks an ostensibly exposed Reeves to his "ultra right".

Tater Hater said...

Tate’s arguments: 1. I have more money in my political campaign war chest. 2. I am a lifelong politician. Taxing people is what I have done for a living my entire life. 3. I am the political insider with support from lobbyist and big corporations. 4. Foster is young, hasn’t been in politics long and doesn’t have any corporate handouts building his war chest.

Foster’s argument(s): I am not Tate.

Anonymous said...

For all the “Foster is a joke” narrative, seems like Tate’s staff is busy posting about him on here. Does a joke require this much effort?

Anonymous said...

9:58 did Robert Foster use tax payer dollars to fund his own driveway like Tate? Did Robert Foster take a salary for decades from tax payers like Tate? Did Robert Foster not endorse Donald Trump for President like Tate? Your argument is flawed.

Anonymous said...

I like Foster, but I'll be voting for Tate. Both are conservative (Foster probably more so), but Tate has the best chance to win against Hood and actually move good policy.

Anonymous said...

Even the liberals in Mississippi are dismissing Foster as not having a speck of a chance.

Anonymous said...

Looks like your average MS redneck. Not a chance.

Otis Campbell said...

When I reluctantly voted for CHS last week, I swore that I'd never cast another vote like that as long as I live, so if Tater ends up being the republican nominee for guv next year, I'm sitting that one out. Never thought I'd say that, but I've had it with sorry-ass politicians. And I can't bring myself to vote for the evil that is the democratic party.

Anonymous said...

I didn't vote for Chris McDaniel in the Senate race but would vote for him as a candidate for governor. Run Chris run!!

Anonymous said...

Why would the liberals be dismissing Foster? The liberals you speak of want multiple GOP candidates in the primary. Good try, Tate. Your fingers must be tired today typing all of these comments.

Anonymous said...

I'm sitting here unable to believe we elected Phil Bryant to govern for eight years. But, as to pressing issues, what is this Foster guy's position on public hangings and barn square dances?

Chantilly Lace said...

I can't find anything on Google. Does anybody know if Jerry Lee Lewis is doing a benefit for Foster?

Mitchell said...

Reeves is a bad guy for public policy. He opposed the tax for online stores, hiding behind a 'it's unconstitutional' argument (SCOTUS has said its O.K.). That hurts local business. Foster is a very generous guy and his business gives back tremendously in the DeSoto community.

Anonymous said...

Hood's Arrogance + Tate's Arrogance = Foster's Arrogance.

Anonymous said...

Local businesssz didn't lose business because of the lack of an online tax. Bogus argument.

Anonymous said...

Each candidate should state where they stand on the current state flag. Saying “let the voters decide” won’t work. Show some political spine (leadership) and tell us what you think.

Anonymous said...

Again I ask the question. Is this the best we can do? But, if most people are sick of politics and the good ol’ boy system then there will not be any change. You don’t get a lot of people who want to throw their hat into the ring anymore. Unless you have ulterior motives.

Anonymous said...

The day before Nov. 6 federal midterm elections, Foster wrote on Twitter: "Anyone who votes Dem. in 18 is either ignorant or evil. There is no excuse for supporting killing babies or open borders. If that offends U, I'll pray for U but I won't apologize. I've been praying and thinking about this decision for a long time...."

Just what Mississippi needs: another divisive, no talent, entitled, redneck racist who has no intention of representing anyone except that agrees with his klan.

Stirrups and Forceps said...

9:31 - Nice try, but we don't elect people to 'tell us what they think'. We elect people (supposedly) to represent us and our interests and ideals.

But, to go along with your argument, would you also be in favor of candidates stating where they stand, specifically, on abortion, including 'late term'? You know, instead of pandering to women and saying stuff like "I support women and their right to control their bodies"? Stand up straight and proclaim yourself either opposed to or supportive of abortion! Period!

But, the issue of killing babies probably is nowhere near as important as a flag.

Anonymous said...

I will vote republican, I'm not impressed with Tate, hope we have better option.

Anonymous said...

ROFLMAO

So someone running to the right of Tate Reeves on issues somehow makes him less attractive as an option?

You people are so funny. I love this website!

Anonymous said...

Here are four points that summarize how this will go down. This may hurt some people, but I will try to be as blunt as possible.

1. Being a Christmas tree farmer does not make you qualified for Governor. Being a rookie state rep makes you even less credible. I realize the win by farmer-Cindy gives hope, but she would've never been in the picture had Phil not appointed.

2. Winning is all about money and name recognition. And while many of us politico-trolls on this site know his name (Foster), the state of Mississippi doesn't. I'm not sure why he is running, other than someone gave him bad advice (for selfish reasons: watch who runs his campaign to determine who that might be).

3. Tate will be our next Governor, whether you like it or not. Tate will have more votes than Foster in his own neck of the woods. Why? Because Tate can advertise in that expensive Memphis media market every day for 6 months. Too many people are thinking with emotion right now and not logic. Your heart says "I wont vote for Tate", but logic dictates he will be the Republican nominee.

4. Jim Hood will not be the next Governor of Mississippi. Period. Stop wishing it. In fact, Jim Hood will not be the nominee of his OWN PARTY. Why? Because the Democratic Party is in shambles. See the truckdriver nominee. The party apparatus will not unite because, well, they can't. Jim will get plenty of money from outside groups and his attorney pals, but at the end of the day he is lacking one thing to win the Democratic nomination: skin color. One credible black man, with a strong network, and with Bennie's backing (if you think Bennie's network will support a white man vs a black man, you are sorely mistaken) is all it will take. Jim Hood will not be the Democratic nominee. Look at the minority percentage in the party and see for yourself.

So, there you have it. Tate Reeves vs. an African American Democrat for Governor. And we saw how that fared in the Senate election. Trump will stump for Tate, and it will be game over. See CHS. You can say the damnest things in Mississippi and still win as a Republican. And Tate won't step on his tongue the way CHS did.

But, you politicos just keep on wishing.

Settle down Stirrup. Most voters (excluding you, perhaps) like to be informed of a candidate’s views. It’s how rational people make decisions in casting a vote. The current MS flag is a contentious issue - as is abortion. Knowing where a candidate stands on the issues is just common sense.

Thud Cochrun said...

It is very sad to see that not a single candidate has a platform and no support or prognosticator can tell you what ideas, issues, changes their candidate will make. It is all about race, party, money, endorsements, etc. Foster? Never heard of him. Anyone know of any legislation he introduced? Candidates don’t tell thei “plan” other than get elected and get re-elected. And the average citizen gets screwed by both parties.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
