Voter Fraud & Vote-Buying in Canton

Update: Attorney Ed Blackmon is representing McNeil.

It's going down in Canton this morning.  Several Canton officials have been indicted and arrested for voter fraud.   Madison County deputies served indictments and arrested the following individuals:

Former Canton Police Chief and Alderwoman Vicki McNeil
Sherman Matlock (Convicted Felon)
Donnell Robinson  (Convicted Felon)
Jennifer Robinson
Deputy City Clerk Desma King
Canton School Board Member Courtney Rainey

Ms. Rainey was also indicted for intimidating a witness.

*Sherman Matlock was convicted of manslaughter.  He submitted an absentee ballot even though he is not eligible to vote.  The grand jury indicted him for voter fraud and voting by an unqualified person.

*Canton Alderwoman Vicki McNeil was indicted for two counts of voter fraud.  She is the former Canton police chief.   She helped Stephanie Dallas and Robert Jefferson  submit absentee ballots.  The indictment alleges McNeil did so while a candidate for municipal office.

*Deputy Canton City Clerk Desma King helped Donnell Robinson submit an absentee ballot when she knew he was ineligible to vote.

*15 counts landed on Canton School Board member Courtney Rainey. She allegedly paid Emma Ousley to vote in the Canton municipal elections last year.  She tried to get Ousley to "change her story" so she would not get caught.  Another indictment charges her with giving a Walmart gift card to Louvenia Brown in exchange for her vote in the same election.  She also paid her through the use of "flood relief" for her vote.  The indictment charges her with conspiring with Andrew Grant to commit voter fraud.

The indictment alleges Rainey voted in several Canton municipal elections even though she didn't live in Canton.  She helped Donnell Robinson vote in the 2017 elections even though she knew he did not live in Canton.  Another count charges her with paying Marvin Cain, Montel Hardy,  to vote in the same election.

*Donnell and Jennifer Robinson were charged with submitting absentee ballots for the 2017 Canton Municipal elections even though they did not live in Canton.

Stay tuned.  The Street Committee says there is a second round of indictments on the way.

Ruh, roh. I wonder which candidate/s were benefitting from this fraud? There are definately some interesting text messages going back and forth in Canton right now.

That’s crazy

Interesting! I'll be watching for further developments.

These wouldn't by chance be all democrat votes?

Interesting that neither the local "newspaper" nor any of the television stations are reporting this. Kingfish grabs another story right out from under them. Good work KF!!

But, but, but Donner and Tom Head say there is no voter fraud in Mississippi.

You can bet the house @7:47 that the candidate beneficiaries are not Republicans.

ACLU should investigate.

Wow! Was there a conspiracy or were these separate “alleged” crimes?????

Dear Santa,

Vickie 'The Wig' McNeil going down! My hope is that this isn't going to stop at voter fraud. CMU and the CMU board need to be looking over their shoulders along with Rudy 'The Warlock" Warnock.

Here comes the race card in 3.....2.....1.....

I live in Canton. It is probably the most corrupt town in Mississippi! All democratic votes! Nothing ever changes!

Going by the clarion ledger article, it seems they are saying that almost 10 votes may have been fraudulent. This is exactly why Trump lost the popular election. If there are 10 votes in this one district, just imagine how many there were across the state, it could be in the dozens. I guess it may be overshadowed by the republican voter fraud in North Carolina since those were much larger numbers and actually changed the election result, but these few votes in a primarily black district should be enough for Trump to prove he was right all along and allow the republicans to pass more stringent requirement before allowing just anyone to vote.

10:10 AM - use of the Oxford comma, as you insist, is generally not used in writing, particularly in the US. It is generally a redundancy since you already have the separator with "and" in place.

This thread has so much WIN!

Someone should have told these folks that if they are going to (allegedly) participate in voter fraud, they should do it in Jackson, where it is an accepted practice.

Per the Mississippi Supreme Court website as of today's date, the MISSISSIPPI CONSTITUTION ARTICLE 12, SECTION 241. STATES:
"Every inhabitant of this state, except idiots and insane persons, who is a citizen of the United States of America, eighteen (18) years old and upward, who has been a resident of this state for one (1) year, and for one (1) year in the county in which he offers to vote, and for six (6) months in the election precinct or in the incorporated city or town in which he offers to vote, and who is duly registered as provided in this article, and who has never been convicted of murder, rape, bribery, theft, arson, obtaining money or goods under false pretense, perjury, forgery, embezzlement or bigamy, is declared to be a qualified elector, except that he shall be qualified to vote for President and Vice President of the United States if he meets the requirements established by Congress therefor and is otherwise a qualified elector."

As I read the indictment, the stated reason is not that he took money to vote but that he registered to vote with a manslaughter conviction.

How in the hell is a person convicted of manslaughter disenfranchised under this Constitutional provision based upon the four corners of the page.

And more importantly, how would a person convicted of manslaughter be on notice that he cannot vote under this constitutional provision.

This indictment is prosecutorial misconduct and a legal impossibility given the wording of the constitution.

His lawyer needs to move for dismissal based upon legal insufficiency and then file a IIED lawsuit against the foreman of the grand jury that issued this sh*t.

Jackson Free Press is all about issues relating to voting in minority communities. So let’s see if JFP runs with this story. Or does it not fit their narrow minded agenda???

Anonymous said...

Band music intensifies....

Anonymous said...

Ah, America where you can be sent to prison for trying to vote with a prior conviction, but if you have enough money, you can be President/Senator/Congressman regardless of how many laws you've broken. And this goes for both sides of the aisle.

Anonymous said...

This is Canton. No one is going to be convicted and not going anywhere. The race card is already in the pipe line, the NCAAP is mobilizing forces and buckets of chicken and bottles of beer being ordered.

Anonymous said...

@10:10 a.m.: The Oxford comma is a source of contention. It is not a consensus rule of punctuation.

Anonymous said...

ED HAS TO DEFEND VICKIE!!!! If she removed from office ED & Barbara will be our of a job at CMU. ALL crooks.

Anonymous said...

As long as the race card is imminent, let's talk about the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals' flag decision...

Anonymous said...

11:01 It will be covered in conjunction with their story on the nooses at The Capitol.

Anonymous said...

Mac Haik, you don't want to be part of Gluckstat, be careful what you ask for I am pretty sure you realize its one or the other.

Anonymous said...

You gotta love Mississippi. It's the ultimate irony. A state where officials from the governor to the dog catcher committed the ultimate voter fraud for over one hundred years, and nobody went to jail says, "I told you so" for a handful of jokers who might have committed voter fraud in a couple of elections. The shoe's on the other foot, only this time it's a black foot. We won't tolerate that.

Anonymous said...

Difficult for voters to have their votes count when votes are purchased. Every vote is important and every voting law must be seriously protected or anarchy will prevail.

Anonymous said...

1057, you need to go back and finish law school. After the first three weeks of your first year, which appears to be whereyou dropped out, they teach you that there is more to our laws and legal system than just the Constitution. There are things like statutes, AG opinions related to interpretations of those statutes and the constitution, and precedent from the courts.

Your quoting of the Constitution is nice, and we really appreciate it. But next time get the 'Rest of the Story'. There are 21 disenfranchising crimes today (including the 11 in your Constitutional reference) in MS, and manslaughter is defiantly one of them. And felons are made aware of this at their sentencing and during their incarceration. Also, it is included as a question on their application to register to vote.

Go by to your fryer now, lesson from week four of 1L is over.

ED AND BARBARA DONT LIVE IN CANTON WHERE THEY VOTED AND ARE ELECTED FROM!

Anonymous said...

12:15, glad you mentioned those nooses. I really want to know who did them. Security cameras anywhere?

As to conspiracy to fraudulently cast votes, nothing makes me angrier. Every time this occurs, it dilutes my vote. Every illegal immigrant or non-citizen who votes, dilutes my vote. Many fought and died so I could vote. I honor their sacrifice and deplore those who manipulate the vote. Prosecution is the beginning of an answer to stopping this practice.

While I sincerely hope Vickie is sitting on a stainless steel toilet soon, since when is 'helping someone to vote absentee' a crime?

Hey, boys and girls, how many of you can count the number of times voter ID worked to prevent the fraud in these allegations?
What's that, boys and girls? Zero, you say?
Yeah ... Zero.

You should have a comma after "punctuation".

That's not settled science. You're a believer in the Oxford comma. Many people are not. The late Charles Krauthammer, in his last book, noted that "commas are destroying the world." (I think it was in the introduction.)

On to the merits of the news, good on Bryan Buckley. Of all the ADAs in the Canton branch, Bryan's been on the scent of voter fraud in the city of Canton for a while now. Glad to see this will come to fruition.

Anonymous said...

LOL, @8:39!! Agreed:)

Anonymous said...

Actually, 7:42, that Matlock guy up there can't vote SPECIFICALLY because of a Nazitastic felony disenfranchisement law that Mississippi bigots dreamed up in 1890 to keep "certain people" from voting.
Them's the facts.

Anonymous said...

@4:22 PM, and those bigots who kept "certain people from voting" were democrats. The chickens have come home to roost.

Oh, the irony.

Did it change the outcome, if they were going to win anyway, the judge needs to add time for being dumb.

Anonymous said...

You mean them "Democrats" who became "Dixiecrats" in 1948,and then went GOP after Nixon, 4:32? Yeah, I'd say there's irony there, alright.

Anonymous said...

Obviously many racist Hyde-Smith supporters leaving comments. No wonder Mississippi is still at the bottom!! Too damn busy hating people because of their color. Probably descendants of poor non slave holders who were dumb enough to fight and die for rich slave holders. This ignorant mentality still exists today.

More to come. Popcorn.

Kingfish said...

Ok, you knuckleheads have had your say on the racial history of Mississippi. Back to the subject of the post.

Anonymous said...

Let us know @5:16 when you actually win a statewide election.

Anonymous said...

Kingfish - Have you been paying attention the past fifty years? There is no way to separate voter intimidation, vote buying, election tampering, arguments over voter ID, Delbert's efforts and previous arrests and convictions from RACE. All of those tie in directly with Mississippi's race-history. How in the world can you suggest otherwise?

Anonymous said...

Doesn't make a difference? Evidently you haven't been watching Canton City elections lately. Rodriguez Brown (yes, Brown, nephew of the infamous Ike Brown who along with the rest of his family were actively involved in the elections) won his city alderman race 10 years ago by two votes; four years later by four votes; then in 2017 by twenty-one votes. And the amount of voter fraud involved in that one ward exceeds all of the charges that have been indicted thus far. Its a target rich environment.

Amateurs go to North Carolina they are the pros

Anonymous said...

The DAs office will go after small people, but the BLACKMONS who have done the same as these crooks will be overlooked. This will be the downfall of the DAs case against these small folks. Double Standard Buckley won’t serve you well.

Anonymous said...

I just saw that Courtney Rainey is going to be represented by Khalaf & Nguyen.

Anonymous said...

Brian Buckley is blinded by political ambition.

Anonymous said...

John Wallace is a crook that was exposed by a recent investigation, BUT the DA overlooked his criminal acts because he is a white republican. FEDS need to investigate the DAs office.

Anonymous said...

This proves Voter ID is working! Is Delbert behind the indictments?

Anonymous said...

9:54 - Don't ask silly questions. When you reveal your sources, they dry up on you.

Anonymous said...

I found the answer to my question. McNiel (allegedly) committed a crime when she 'helped someone vote absentee' BECAUSE McNIEL WAS A CANDIDATE ON THE BALLOT and that is a crime.

I'm pretty damned sure if she 'helped' one, she helped 80.

Anonymous said...

Eric Giley is NEXT.

Anonymous said...

I hear with a couple of six-packs of 40s you can get elected mayor in Canton.

Anonymous said...

Don't overlook the previous (and a couple of present) election commissioners who managed to get themselves elected. They been up to no good for awhile.

Anonymous said...

This is small potatoes compared to what happened in a judge's race in the Ninth Judicial District for Chancellor. Wide spread voter fraud in the Delta. Why hadn't it been investigated by state officials?

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
