"Unprepared and Overwhelmed"

Cowardice and incompetence are the only polite words that can be used to describe the police response at the Parkland High School mass murder earlier this year.  The Coward County Sun-Sentinel published a complete report and timeline on what took place that deadly day in Florida.   School employees saw Cruz walk onto the campus with his rifle bag, recognized him, and did nothing  Police officers hid outside of the school while children were murdered, unable to flee.  The Coward County newspaper reported:

Failures by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office and school district cost children their lives at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

A gunman with an AR-15 fired the bullets, but a series of blunders, bad policies, sketchy training and poor leadership helped him succeed. Information reported over 10 months by the South Florida Sun Sentinel reveals 58 minutes of chaos on campus marked by no one taking charge, deputies dawdling, false information spreading, communications paralyzed and children stranded with nowhere to hide....

A campus watchman has a chance to stop gunman Nikolas Cruz before any blood is shed. But he doesn't do it...

Medina is the first of three school employees who fail to call for a school lockdown after learning a gunman is on campus....

McKenna runs from the building and informs Aaron Feis, a football coach and campus monitor, that there is someone with a gun.

There is no evidence that Feis, who has a radio, calls a Code Red...

Taylor, the campus monitor, hears gunshots and races up to the second floor. He ducks into a janitor's closet. Taylor has a radio but does not call a Code Red....

The first 911 caller tells a Coral Springs operator that there's a shooter at the school. Gunshots are heard in the background...

Broward County's disjointed 911 system slows the law enforcement response.

Because the first 911 call is from a cellphone, it goes to the city of Coral Springs. But the Sheriff's Office handles police calls for neighboring Parkland, so the Coral Springs operator must waste precious minutes transferring the call to the Sheriff's Office....

Peterson finally arrives on the east side of Building 12. He draws his gun, but he fails to go inside the building.

Over his police radio he says he can hear firecrackers or "possible shots fired" in Building 12. The statement conflicts with his later account: that he was unsure where the sounds were coming from...

Deputy Peterson, over his radio, orders a school lockdown instead of ordering deputies toward the building. He remains safely outside....

More deputies hang back — even though they can hear the gunshots...

Since Columbine, officers are taught to rush toward gunshots and neutralize the killer. But the first Broward deputies don’t rush in.

Broward Sheriff Scott Israel later reveals that he personally changed department policy to say that deputies “may” instead of “shall” rush in...

Miller is among eight armed deputies now at the school. All hear gunshots, but none rush to Building 12 to look for the killer...

Cruz takes off his rifle vest, drops his AR-15 in a stairwell, heads down the stairs, darts out of the building and runs across campus — all while police think he's still inside.

A few seconds later, Peterson, still hiding southeast of Building 12, tells deputies over the radio to stay at least 500 feet away from the building.

The warning is one of at least two times a Broward deputy urges another officer to protect themselves, not confront the killer.
...
Almost an hour after the shooting began, officers enter the final room in Building 12. Rest of article.
Keep reading as there is much more sickening information provided in the article.

Kingfish note: Unfortunately, cowardice while on duty is not a capital offense as it used to be on the battlefield.

This was also the district of Debbie Wasserman-Schultz who was a strong supporter of the program that protected Nicolas Cruz from having a record that would've prevented him for purchasing his AR15.

Broward County Fl is a cesspool of inbred corruption on so many levels. NO ONE has been held accountable, because the county will protect their own. But the Sheriff appears to now be the fall guy that the tribe will offer up as red meat. All of this coordinated carefully through their media source, who's in their back pockets as well.

Unpreparedness and no one taking charge are bad but Mr. Medina -- and whoever kept him on the payroll -- have blood on their hands. They thought enough of the perpetrator to give him a special name, "crazy boy," and to recognize him from afar but not to initiate commitment proceedings before he killed somebody.

As for Mr. Medina "hitting" on two of his charges . . . yeah, high school girls are cute but they are children and you are their teacher. You want a sure-enough pervert "protecting" your kids?

Plenty of egg on lots of faces here. As for cowardice/incompetence under fire, I dunno. Who among us hasn't seen dumb moves in crisis situations?

Besides they are Broward County SO deputies -- the very lowest bacteria in the bottom of the Petri dish of life. Cf. Former Sheriff Nick Navarro of COPS fame. Watch the first season episodes THOSE are BSO deputies. Are you surprised?

If this had been a military battlefield, court-martial would have been the order of the day.

The courts have found the Broward Cowards not guilty as 'they have no constitutional duty to protect'.

Broward County is full of snow-bird New England libtard yankees - demorats all. Because of that migration, in 10-years Florida will be blue.

One more example highlighting complete incompetence of government employees, especially public schools.

F--k liberals and their horse shit agendas.

A gung-ho officer rushing in, firing an assault rifle or even a high capacity side arm madly would have likely caused numerous deaths from 'friendly fire.' It's much too easy to condemn someone from the safety of an easy chair sitting behind a keyboard. If an officer had rushed in blindly firing and killed several students himself he would be severely condemned and possibly charged for his mistake. This country cannot afford to hire, train and arm enough qualified SWAT teams to protect all the school campuses in this country. Offhandedly blaming officers for not blindly rushing into a massacre is just a cheap shot.

@6:33, Has there been a criminal trial of any of the deputies involved? As far as I can tell, the only ruling by a court on the lack of a duty to protect the students was the ruling where a court DENIED Scot Peterson's attempt to use that as a defense in the civil case against him, brought by a parent of one of the slain children.

I can't find any information to support the statement that "The courts have found the Broward Cowards not guilty as 'they have no constitutional duty to protect'."

If I've missed something, somebody please let me know. Thanks

Bodycams, cell phones, and surveillance cameras will change the nature of law enforcement, and hopefully eliminate a lot of bullshit. In the past police could tell the gullible public anything and their word was sacred. Those who said the police would not do their job, or that the cops had abused them, or manufactured evidence, were ignored or called outright liars. Some were, but many were not. Now, we have an opportunity to hold even law enforcement accountable, It ain't sacred, it's a job! Hold them accountable.

Another example of police worship gone wrong. When you’re not willing to hold officers accountable no matter what, this is what you get.

F—k conservatives and their ignorance.

Unless you've been in a life threatening situation, you don't know what your response is going to be.

No one knows what their fight/flight response is until it happens.

If you are trained to follow orders and there are penalties when you do not, that can also affect your response.

Training can help but it has to be well designed. It has to, as accurately as possible, duplicate the conditions likely to be encounter. Training has to be repeated with regularity.

Everyone is a hero until tested and being a recreational gun owner is not training whether it going to the range or hunting animals that aren't shooting back.

There are psychological studies on flight/fight. Put the last four words of the previous sentence in your search engine and read.

This article suggests that those in authority had not required adequate training or a well ordered chain of command with clearly understood plans of action or any testing methods to weed out those whose flight/fight response was likely to immobilize them or cause them to flee.

And, it suggests that neither politicians or taxpayers were willing to spend the money.

It also suggests that , unless teachers who carry have combat training and a psychological assessment, don't expect an armed teacher to go out into the halls searching for the shooter.

If you learned how unreliable an emotional response is, you don't go with your " gut" reaction, you rely on your knowledge and training to assess. And, it a life and death scenario, you have a faster response as a result because you know exactly HOW to respond in advance.

You react like you train. There's no big mystery in training people for these situations, the military and law enforcement do it every single day. Some teachers may already be qualified, but I would much prefer sworn LEO's or other sufficiently trained people monitoring every entrance to these schools. We will never stop these events from happening if we don't even try.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
