State Senator Melanie Sojourner (R-House of Seale) finally filed her request for a waiver with the Secretary of State last Friday. Secretary of State Elbert Hosemann fined her $500 in July for her failure to turn in her annual campaign finance report that was due at the end of January. Ms. Soujourner is the only legislator who has not submitted the annual report in 2014.There is one slight distinction, however, that must be made about the waiver request.
The State Senator told the Natchez Democrat last week she was "unfairly targeted" and that she:
she sent a waiver Monday to the Secretary of State's office and would begin attempting to collect the necessary documents to file the report....
The Secretary of State's office provided this statement to Jackson Jambalaya:
We received Sojourner’s waiver request Friday afternoon. However, the 2013 Annual Campaign Finance Report was not filed with the Secretary of State’s Office and the waiver will not be considered until receipt of the report. The request is for the Secretary of State to waive the fine. Ms. Sojourner still has to submit her campaign finance report. There is no waiver for that requirement.

This coming from a leader of the group trying to claim the moral and legal high ground. All the unwritten rules apply to Cochran, but the WRITTEN law does NOT apply to the tea party.
What about her 2012 Ethics Report?
She cost the City of Natchez $3 million in construction funds by voting AGAINST a bill that was going to easily pass.
She is just like the group she is/was working with - They all think they are "special" and the rules do not apply to them!! It's about time they all get a "wake-up" call!!!
was she singled out? is there a public record of filings?
Its all on the SOS website by each legislator.
Can she file her " six generations" of people who have owned Oakwood she claims on her website as well?
3 generations gets me to the Civil War ancestor and I'll give her 4...
They are made for each other......
Is she still busy working on McDaniel's "staff" these days?
9:21 I saw what you did there.
The Adams County rumor mill seems to say so.
