Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey issued the following statement.
Approximately 100 Deputies Will Patrol Rankin County Neighborhoods on Halloween Night
Halloween is traditionally one of the busiest nights of the year for the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office. This year, approximately 100 deputies will be patrolling neighborhoods, subdivisions, and county roads to help ensure a safe and enjoyable Halloween for our children and families.
Beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2026, deputies will be positioned throughout their assigned patrol areas with their emergency lights activated to provide a highly visible law enforcement presence. Deputies will continue patrolling until trick-or-treating activities have concluded.
In addition to monitoring traffic and protecting trick-or-treaters, deputies will remain on patrol into the late evening to help prevent vandalism and property damage, including egging, toilet papering, and pumpkin smashing.
Sex Offender Compliance Checks
As an additional precaution leading up to Halloween, the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting a 100% compliance check of all registered sex offenders residing in Rankin County. These checks are nearing completion.
By Friday, October 30, warrants will be issued for registered sex offenders found to be in violation of their registration requirements, where supported by the investigation and applicable law.
Parents and residents are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the locations of registered sex offenders in their neighborhoods by visiting the Mississippi Sex Offender Registry: http://state.sor.dps.ms.gov/
Halloween Safety Reminders
Sheriff Bailey reminds all motorists to SLOW DOWN and remain especially alert for children walking along or crossing roadways.
Parents are encouraged to place reflective material on their children's costumes, carry flashlights, and take additional precautions to make their families more visible to motorists.
Anyone observing reckless driving, suspicious activity, or dangerous conditions is encouraged to contact the Rankin County Sheriff's Office at 601-825-1480. In an emergency, call 911.
Although the Mississippi Legislature has not authorized the Rankin County Sheriff's Office to use radar for speed enforcement in the county's more than 100 subdivisions, deputies will be actively monitoring traffic and issuing citations for careless or reckless driving when appropriate.
A Commitment to Public Safety
Sheriff Bailey expressed his appreciation to the Rankin County Board of Supervisors for continuing to make public safety a priority and providing the funding necessary for additional deputy patrols on Halloween night.
“Having approximately 100 deputies throughout our neighborhoods on Halloween night represents a significant commitment of resources, but I believe it is an investment worth making.
Our goal is simple: We want every child to enjoy Halloween, every parent to have peace of mind, and every family to return home safely.
I am grateful to our Board of Supervisors for supporting this effort and especially to our deputies who will be spending Halloween night away from their own families to help protect the families of Rankin County.
We want everyone to have a fun and safe Halloween, and we ask all motorists to slow down, stay alert, and help us protect our children.”

Police state in Rankin County coming Saturday, October 31st!
Is the goon squad gonna be out?
I like that car behind the Sheriff. What is it?
I didn't realize he is that short.
Anyone dressing up as the Goon Squad this year?
Will there be a check point where the goon squad beats the living hell out people for no reason. Asking for a friend
Do I see a big chaw of tobacco in his mouth? That sells in the land of Niknar.
Why aren't they out patrolling the other 364 days of the year?
No, but there will be a few folks dressed up like dildos.
probably grew the tobacco on the farm he used inmate labor for
That’s just a cone headed ghost costume, right Sheriff?
I’ve encountered him many times at the Pearl Walmart and I estinate he’s about 5’5” with his platform boots.
Actual expert here. Its impossible to tell exactly without seeing the front and rear but it appears to me to be a mid-late 1940’s Chevrolet Sedan, either a Fleetline, Fleetmaster, and Stylemaster model from 1946–1948
reminder that Rankin County pays him an additional $60,000 a year salary plus a full paid staff to manage that storm shelter. It’s a gift from the taxpayers of Rankin since they arent technically allowed to pay him more than the governor. So they just gave him an additional state PIN job, salary, and of course, additional PERS.
We know who the clown is here, Brian.
