Freddy managed to survive Jackson.
The German tourist made quite a name for himself as he traveled across America in his World Cup excursion. Freddy returned to check out some SEC football. While visiting the South, Freddy stayed in Jackson.
Wish he had known he was coming to Jackson. We could have made sure he had a much better experience. ;-).
If you want to see the rest of his travels, check out his Twitter feed.

Of course he managed. It's not that bad.
Lmao, he went into that IHOP at the Briarwood exit and the one employee was asleep in a booth.
It never is until it is….
There are now cities in Germany far worse than Jackson. Plus Germany’s intelligence leadership just got arrested for treason for espionage behalf of Israel.
Thanks for this update. When I saw his post about walking around that area I worried for him.
Who's going to tell him?
"It's not that bad" - What we need is a 'CAPTION THIS' contest to go with that post.
>>WALKIN' AROUND JACKSON AT NIGHT, AIN'T THAT BAD, BUT<<
@3:29 I walk around Jackson at night all the time. I'm doing fine.
LOL I love that all this did was prove that even in a terrifying “sketchy” area of Jackson you’ll be just fine. He definitely could have stayed in the Eastover Marriott or the Homewood Suites in Fondren but I think they were using cheap hotels everywhere they went.
I’m convinced that the only danger in Jackson these days (with Capitol PD) is domestic. How often are random strangers the target of crimes in pertinent areas? It’s pretty infrequent.
2024 a young friend (20's) from Germany came to America for the 1st time - Jackson. We were walking into a store in Flowood when some "strangers" smiled & said "hello" as we entered the store together. My friend said "I like strangers here better than the ones in Germany" referring to the Muslims on their streets.
Of course, Chuck. Nobody will mess with a guy who looks just like Charles 'Hunchback' Laughton! They'd lock down midnight mass if you were within four blocks of the church.
Freddy is likely a bit more "aware" of his surroundings than many would give him credit for.
@ October 6, 2026 at 2:42 PM - What cities pray tell? I've been to many parts of Germany and never felt threatened.
The criminals were too surprised at seeing him to do anything.
There goes Kingfish scaremongering over literally nothing going wrong again.
Sure Jackson is heaven here on earth. How many killings have we had this year? Are we stil the murder capital of the U.S.?
Some of y'all are just nuts...I go downtown to dine and enjoy entertainment and never have been even a tiny bit concerned for my safety. I know where not to go and that nothing good happens after midnight. That's important knowledge in EVERY CITY IN THIS NATION. I'm also an 80 year old female. Some of you must have no friends , no money and no fun and resent those who do. Why on earth anyone who loves their state bashes their capital city is only because that person is mean spirited or crazy or stupid or all three! Tourists and visitors and citizens spend money when out enjoying themselves. If some thugs get themselves killed fighting each other on the wrong side of the tracks, I don't care! And, let's not pretend south Jackson and the white parts of Rankin county have white crime that's just as bad! Indeed, the only crime I experience was the theft of my cell phone from my purse in Pearl. And, yes, ATT tracked it to a teenagers apartment, I took the police there and they just let him say he didn't have it. They wouldn't be bothered with a search warrant or asking for the authority. I rang my phone while the perp was holding it in his hand in front of them. I had my husband's cell.
Good for you (except for the "y'all" part, which is tacky), 9:37! I can't remember EVER having enjoyed dining-out in Jackson - ever. The "down to earth" places have awful music, and the hoity-toity places (which generally have the same awful music) are full of people looking (as friends from Seattle and Minneapolis and the Bay Area noted) uptight/"about to jump out of their skin"/miserable.
I suppose the food is OK, but I'm not a foodie.
As for the entertainment, there's only one thing I regret missing (a screening of 'The Rape of Europa' - about the theft of artworks, by the Nazis). As donors, we had season tickets, I think, but never went to any of that organization's screenings. But that was a good book, and I probably would have found the movie compelling.
There were plenty of things we REGRETTED sitting-through, though. Those Irish stomping things were the worst - even worse than the "Broadway" things. And it only took about three minutes of each, to know that Jazz, Blues, Rap, Rock, and HipHop, in Jackson, were things to ENDURE, more than to "enjoy".
Maybe, I regret missing the old St. Patrick's Day Parades, back when they were outrageous and fun. Every year, we'd forget. I would have enjoyed seeing the float on which a conman/developer's wife (a Chi Omega) got in a catfight with an ad agency's head-witch-in-charge (a Redneck Prisspot).
So, if you enjoy wandering around Jackson, then I wish you the very best! In my book, you're a cultural hero.
12:38, dude, you are nuts. Relax please.
3:59 Ditto
