Seeing reports about finding Kratom at the scene. Such a shame that young people are reaching for this crap, especially when they have no idea what's really in it or what it can do to them.

Life is so insanely beautiful. There is much to explore and read about and so much great music. History is seemingly endless and there is natural beauty in almost every inch of America to enjoy. So why in the world are our boys wanting to destroy their mental health and brains with drugs at all? There is plenty of joy and fun in being sober to actually experience everything. I can get behind drinking with friends, but these drugs are depressing to even think about. Teach your kids to be happy in the “mundane” and always be grateful for the little things in life. This is so sad. It’s a glimpse into the way our society is going. I can’t help but think the phones and social media-fication of everything is doing a ton of damage.

How does cychlorphine present? Is it in weed? Is it a pill? Other? So scary.

Many overdoses are actually poisonings, where the dealer knowingly misrepresented to the victim what the drugs were, either because he wanted to kill them or because he didn't care whether they died or not. It's also often at least partially motivated by anti-white hatred. Don't do drugs, kids.

My first thought when I read the Jambalaya headline was this was something related to the weekend football hype, the game and three day drinker. Assuming nothing, now, was an attempt made by the university to shield this from public knowledge, until emails and Facebook posts started flying around?

Recreational drug use is dangerous. Period. The numbers are huge. We have parents addicted to pain meds and/or using diet pills. We saw a so-called conservative legislature hell bent to legalize medical MJ with insufficient controls, and physicians willing to accommodate any disorder with a prescription. Children watch and believe it is safe to pop a pill for any reason at all.

It doesn't appear that the cause of death is known (or at least disclosed). As to kratom, it should be illegal. It isn't, but it would unusual for retail products to have cychlorphine in them unless there was a specific intent to harm or someone really didn't know what the hell they were fooling with when they added it. Just because kratom was found does not mean it was involved in the deaths, just as the presence of beer, chips, and ramen wouldn't mean someone OD'ed on them (well, literally anyway). It won't do much good, but this is one of those situations in which everyone really should wait for some more information before popping off with SWAGs-as-facts commentary. About the only things that are certain is that the deaths of two young people is tragic and if someone sold them any type of dangerous substance, illegal or legal but altered or mislabeled, the seller ought to be charged with murder and punished accordingly.

Someone was describing a daughter of pre-Mary Madison (the town USED TO have a lot of really bad kids), whom everyone called 'Meth Mom', sitting in her driveway all night, multiple nights - engine running - headlights on. My Trainer chimed -in: "Oh, that's Gas Station Heroin. They do that ...just pass-out, all-night - in the driveway - in the ditch - in a parking lot..."

If this turns out to be cychlorphine, which is 10 times more powerful than fentanyl, then this is murder, just as the crap laced with fentanyl is murder. I know a lot of it comes thru Mexico and the Sinaloa cartel, but a lot of the raw product originates in China. Why we don't consider this war is understandable, but unforgivable.

That's just it....starting about 1990, kids were taught they don't have to be bored, feel awkward, or uncomfortable. The Mississippi Educational "system" literally has tapes about how to "get down on the child's level" even when they are pouting, sulking, tantruming, or being disrepectul for authority figures. So, they do not have the self-soothing skills previous generations wer EXPECTED to have.
The universe doesn't give a shit about your feelings, but too many parents use their kids to work out their own demons by being popular, and really setting no expectations for their children except: "Just be happy!"

That is not correct or accurate. Of the three docs KF originally posted (in case this post is updated), no cause is stated. The email mentions it as "apparently" the cause but it isn't a "report" on cause of death. The other two are statements about the case, not "reports" or even statements on causation, and do not state any cause.

People making erroneous statements which others take as accurate and then repeat as "facts" are the cause of a lot of bad situations. The intent of the misstatements is not relevant to the inaccuracy. The currently topical Nolan Wells case is a particularly extreme example.

Cychlorphine kills like this. Kratom alone from a gas station does not. These kids met the same dealer who sold them some “really good shit” probably advertised as meth or a benzo. The ingredients for cychlorphine and how to make it are online for decades. This potent chemical is put into other pills and is not detectable by test strips or at a hospital. That fact alone should have every party boy rethinking pill usage. Narcan? Works if you get 6 shots while en route to the ER. If you are lucky enough to be in school and taking classes and dating hot people….drink a beer…..say no to pill pushers. It’s not worth it.

Unless you are combing a massive amount of 7OH or MGM with benzos, alcohol, coke or other drugs - Kratom itself ain't gonna kill you. These kids probably bought some Xanax off the street, Oxy or Molly - most of these are faked press pills full of crap like Fent and more.

Kratom could be a cause/contributor or its presence symptomatic of a reckless attitude about getting stoned. In the late 60s-70s, some 18-24 year olds combined weed, drinking and cocaine or LSD regularly, to enhance how high they were. I avoided that culture but many were drawn to it inexplicably.

Gas station drugs are packaged to look like candy with names like Laffy Taffy. These gas station owners sell to anyone that has money regardless of age. A lot of forward thinking States have banned these drugs but, of course Mississippi has done nothing.

Remember a young girl I worked with in the 80’s telling about making crank with sulphuric stuff bought at feed stores. The LEO person put me on hold & called DEA agent who had not heard of this. DEA said to tell her that junk would blow up a building. Why would someone ingest this.

Alright, ignoring the tinfoil and asking everyone to read and think about this:
Much like COVID, using these kinds of drugs as a weapon of war against th US is like invading the US with rickety old single-shot .22s, going to homeless shelters, nursing homes, and ERs and shooting one out of every 8th or 10th person. It isn't harming the "best and brightest," "fittest and most able," working and productive citizens, etc. On top of that, it could be fairly easily contained and stopped without too much damage to the well-armed, able-bodied citizens and armed forces who would decimate an invasion force armed with nothing more than single-shot .22s. Also just like COVID, distributing these drugs puts them "in the wild" and humans, Chinese or US, being humans, it would be impossible for "the Chinese" to keep their own drug-using population from also being poisoned. As history is shown, prohibition of intoxicants (or what people think are merely intoxicants) is impossible, wherever the location or government currently in power.

That said, would it be fair to say that "the Chinese," as in the CCP and its members in power, have no real incentive to prevent the drugs from reaching the US and people here? Yes. Would it be fair to say that Chinese people making money from the drug trade in whatever role do not have any incentive to stop? Yes.

The Chinese government has no absolute duty to protect the citizens of the US from drugs while those citizens are in the US, just as the US government has no such duty to Chinese citizens in China. Sure, it would be within reason to argue that both governments have a humanitarian duty to prevent what is in their power to prevent that would proactively injure humanity, but if the Chinese government cannot eliminate drug abuse in China and the US government cannot eliminate it in the US, the Chinese government can hardly be held responsible for failing to stop it in the US.

I have friends who are functional alcoholics and I often feel sorry for them, that they feel life is so awful they must be in an altered state to enjoy it.

9:08, Mississippi's "leaders" are FOR SALE. I guess the inaction in favor of Kratom, tells us who some of the buyers (of the "leaders") are.

There would be the manufacturers/distributors of the product, and there would be the store owners (described, in another thread, as being some sort of monolithic "cartel", now - which would streamline the bribing process). And maybe, there would be actual cartels, who'd view Kratom as a 'Gateway Drug' - getting users ready for cartels' own illegal products (and for sidelines, such as prostitution, etc.)

Then, there would be hostile foreign nations, eager to weaken our own nation. Alternately, there would be the "global" entities, with the same goal.

But back to the STORE OWNERS. Most of those, are DEPORTABLE. Why aren't our nation's various three-letter agencies investigating and deporting the criminals running the stores?
