While this is an admirable thing, we need to shut down the selling of synthetic drugs at gas stations.

Press conference includes forensic psychiatrist DR Park Dietz discussing his years long participation in this investigation.
Park Elliot Dietz (born August 13, 1948) is a forensic psychiatrist who has consulted or testified in many high-profile US criminal cases, including those of spousal killer Betty Broderick, mass murderer Jared Lee Loughner, filicide defendant Andrea Yates, and serial killers William Bonin, Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Kaczynski, Richard Kuklinski, Joel Rifkin, and Arthur Shawcross
He came to national prominence in 1982 during his five days of testimony as the prosecution's expert witness in the trial of John Hinckley Jr., who had attempted the assassination of President Reagan on March 30, 1981. Then an assistant professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, Dietz testified that at the time of the shooting, Hinckley knew that his actions were wrong and had the capacity to control his behavior, and was therefore not legally insane..
The Legislature took some half measures on this Kratom stuff when they mandated no one under 21 could buy it and required retailers to keep it under the counter, but come on. This stuff is poison and they need to deal with it. Young people make mistakes but don’t allow this garbage to be sold as their last mistake.
Maybe I'm looking at this the wrong way, but giving out supplies for drug overdose just doesn't seem to be right. Very glad that Narcan is something that can be used to help, but I just believe paramedics, EMT, hospitals, and the police should be the ones administering it. Its like saying you can get totally &^%$# up but you're good cause you got Narcan.
The Mississippi legislature is accountable for these deaths. They have refused to act on Kratom for years. Big money is being made in these convenience stores and the legislature has been made aware of this for over a decade. They still choose to do nothing. I think a look at the campaign finance reports would tell the story. Where did the Opioid money go? When will the great auditor in chief look at the non profits that are receiving a lot of these funds-non profits who have spouses employed in exec level positions in state govt. We will have wringing hands and mouthy politicos for a week or so then back to business as usual. The legislators are making too much money from industry and yes that’s is Pharma and the retail merchants assn etc. They simply don’t care about these young people. Wait two weeks and see if we are reading anything more about the “gas stations” drugs killing our youth. There is no regulation assigned to these poisons yet even dog food and bubble gum and everything else on the shelves have oversight-BUT NOT THE GAS STATION HEROIN! Maybe we will see another study group! Stand by - we will surely see an increase in revenue for the undertakers! General consensus at the Capitol is “let them eat cake!” We have our new state flag!!
Or.... and here's a crazy idea, we let people who do drugs OD and remove them from the gene pool. Good riddance.
Or …. And here’s another crazy idea, maybe you educate yourself on the fact that addiction is a disease recognized by the American Medical Association since the 1960s. Your statement is totally ignorant. And….here’s yet another crazy idea, you get off your moralistic high horse and crawl back under the rock from where you came.
When seconds count the EMTs etc. are minutes away.
As you should also be removed.
Id rather not. If you choose to do drugs thats on you. Imagine how many people in Philly, Kentucky, and West Virginia are being coddled by something like this.
Great. I can add it to the collection of stuff I'm supposed to carry everywhere I go so I can be "safe" - Narcan, defibrillator, loaded gun, car window breaker/seatbelt cutter, portable oxygen tank, a change of panties, etc.
@2:07 it would probably be more effective to knock all the self righteous folks like yourself off their high horses and let them break their neck on the way down. By your logic, lets quit sending emergency services to anyone involved in a car wreck unless they were abiding by the speed limit at all times. Or maybe lets refuse health care for any and all conditions brought on by bad dietary choices...
