Insurance Commish Mike Chaney issued the following statement.
La’Vadda Harris is being held in the Hinds County Detention Center following his arrest on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, on first-degree arson charges. Harris confessed to State Fire Marshal’s Deputies at the Edwards Police Department that he had intentionally set a mobile home on fire around 12:30 a.m. on August 6, 2026, at 109 Mt. Moriah Road in Edwards, Miss.
Harris rented the home, which was not insured at the time of the fire. He was four months behind on rent and had been served an eviction notice two days before the fire. Harris confessed to intentionally setting fire to bed sheets using a lighter and cooking oil because he was upset by the eviction.
His initial court appearance is pending, and no bond has been set at this time. The Mississippi State Fire Marshal’s Office was assisted by the Edwards Police Department during this investigation. The charges against this individual are allegations, and individuals facing criminal charges are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Hopefully, although not ideal, he may have solved his residency shortcomings for awhile…
He's got a place to live now where he doesn't have to fear eviction.
That was an eviction with prejudice, final and not subject to appeal.
Lookin close he's got neck tatts, rentin trailers is risky business.
Based. All landlords are parasites! Even more so the ones who buy property and suck up government rent vouchers! Landlords are parasites who steal the fruits of the proletariat labour without adding anything to the productivity of an economy. Basic housing should be a right if employers require you to have housing. I believe that everyone should have the right to own any dwellings they want. But owning “investment” property and collecting rents should be banned! Just ask anyone trying to buy a starter home or bid against an investment firm on a foreclosure!
Please calm down, @11:02. You're hyperventilating.
Troll alert. If not, commie alert.
11:02 you have lost your damn mind. Honest hard working folks don’t suck at the government teat and get housing vouchers. They live in what they can afford.
I hope to be a peasant to a feudal lord.
I’ll walk with you as far as landlords being the lowest of scum-sucking rentiers. But you lose me at housing being a right. Right implies obligation. Not you, not I, not society, not Government is obligated to provide a free roof over anybody’s head. Some college professor really led you down the path, didn’t he?
@ September 14, 2026 at 11:02 AM - Not to worry, comrade. In China there are dormitories on the factory campus so that workers are conveniently accessible 24/7.
