And We Are Off to the Races, Senate Race, That is.

Sixteenth District Attorney Scott Colom announced he will run for U.S. Senate next year in the Democratic primary.  Republican Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith is up for re-election in November 2026.

Should have run for ol' Bennie's seat. He won't get more than 10 points from CHS.

After he loses to Minnie Pearl, why can’t he just keep his DA job and prosecute his enemies?

George Soros will easily drop another million in this race. Mississippi is about to be bought and paid for by a single billion who has never stepped foot on our soil.

Don't know anything about him, but he has my vote. Cindy's worthless as teats on a boar hog. Nothing but a trump puppet.

Colom is fine with men in women's bathrooms. Let's see how that flies in Mississippi.

10:22 for today's win!

10:39, Can you post a link to where he actually took that position?

What has Smith done for Ms? She doesnt even meet with her voters. She
thinks she works for Trump.

Great commercial. Great head start. I wish he would run as an independent . I really hate to see good talent and money go to waste.

Cindy may wish she had supported him for federal judge. History being what it is and does, 2026 might not be the year to be a Trumpster up for reelection facing even a half-way serious non-MAGA challenger, even in the 'sip. Colom has been supported by a surprisingly large number of MSGOP'ers in other roles and Cindy is, well, Cindy, bless her heart. The real question might be who does the MSGOP bring in to try and save the seat? Assuming Trump is in good enough health through Spring 2026 (and he probably is), the real MAGA in-fighting probably won't begin until a bit later in 2026 when the landscape comes into focus. So everyone has time to pop some corn, settle in, and watch the show.

CHS is an empty dress. Hopefully an R will run against her.

He is runninjust to pad his bank balance-

I would think Tate Reeves would want Cindy Hyde-Smith's seat. No matter how bad things are next year, no Democrat will win a Mississippi Senate seat for at least the next 40 years. Of course, when I walk daily around the Flowood Nature Park, I can see demographics are very slowly changing in Mississippi.

Is Cindy Still in the Senate? I never see her until she runs a few TV commercials in the weeks before her reelection. And while other members of Congress are on television news shows every night laying out their positions for a national audience, she and Wicker are apparently hiding under their desks. Talk about a pair of back benchers.

To think that Colom can run and hide away from the platform of the national Democrats is funny. To think that Colom wouldn't march in 100% lockstep with Schumer is hilarious. Colom is no moderate. Never was, never will be.

Missippi will never vote for what’s best for them. Remember Cindy voter against Interstste 14, which will run right through Brookhaven.

As the GOP and especially MAGA has been pointing out, there is no "national" Democratic platform. If the Senate is going to go anyway, it would be VERY good for MS business, and more importantly, bidness, to have a smart young black Dem senator who can play ball with the MSGOP elders-in-charge and those who make money from political control. He doesn't need to be "moderate," just not too "immoderate." He can vote with the Dems when it does not matter but looks good to that base (think banning guns - not gonna happen), along with voting "for Mississippi and Mississippians" when necessary ("A strong national defense is important these days and that's just a bi-partisan fact. We need ships, ships, and more ships!").

Add to that the upcoming hair-pulling cat fight among the MAGA crowd, Colum may find he has close personal friends he hasn't yet met, in and out of Mississippi. Soros and company won't even be on the guest list. Or need to be. Here's a hint - these "data center" folks, including Amazon, aren't investing billions in Mississippi, but they are investing billions on things that will be located here. Spreading a few mil around to elect someone who checks a lot of boxes, can play ball, and the elders can live with (along with the money) won't even be a rounding error on the balance sheet.

If Colom isn't meeting his new close personal friends, he isn't ready to be senator.

The economy is soon the crash. It’s anyone’s game.

Should have run against Bennie may have won. Cindy isn't going anywhere, she's staying in DC

It's America. We don't vote FOR anybody. We always vote AGAINST the other guy, no matter the party. We make it sound like an intelligent system by saying of it that we "voted for the lesser of two evils."

Soros funded DA.

If Espy couldn't get across the finish line, twice, no way little name recognition Colom does.

Anonymous said...

CHS has punted past her coverage and needs to drop back to a position that doesn't require speaking on camera. I don't want to vote for a D, but I will to get rid of either of the two Trump-rubber-stamps that we call senators.

Anonymous said...

First time I've ever heard of him, but I love him already! He has my vote.

Anonymous said...

@ 2:01 The problem with Espy isn't that he doesn't have name recognition. Espy's problem is that he Does have name recognition, but not the good kind.

Anonymous said...

So y’all want a Soros DA to become a senator? Even LA got rid of their Soros DA. Almost every Soros DA has either been thrown out of office or indicted

Anonymous said...

Anybody is a fool to run against CHS. She da bomb

Anonymous said...

One or two trolls posting a variant of the same comment over and over again.

Anonymous said...

A waste of time.. and someones money.. He will lose.

Anonymous said...

It doesn't matter, good or bad, Espy had statewide name recognition. Colom has little to none.

Anonymous said...

Soros. Soros. Soros. Just say what you really mean. John Birch anti-semitism has never left Mississippi.

Anonymous said...

Let them run him, he can lose the same as the rest. Nobody is getting Cindy's seat until she's ready to retire.

Anonymous said...

Hey Scott, how about no income tax on any government employee— city, county, state, or federal. Or plumbers. Or grocery store workers. Or truck drivers. Why just teachers and cops. C’mon man.

Anonymous said...

Which Senate seat is Tate Reeves going after, Smith's or Wicker's?

Empires Always Die said...

Cindy is a moron, but she'll be re-elected. You know ... Guns, God, Trump. The usual holy trifecta in Ms'sippi.

Anonymous said...

All twelve of the anti-CHS voters are posting today. I'll take 100 CHSs over one Roger Wicker. As awful as Wicker is, he is still better than anyone from party of the antisemites.

I personally know of multiple times when Senator Smith interceded to correct governmental oversites and overreach. No, she is not an Obama type orator, but thankfully she is a servant of the people and not an enemy of the people.

Anonymous said...

These "Trump rubber stamp" posts are now #1 for the stupidest posts of the year. Please name the Democrat senators who broke with Joe Biden on issues.

Well...we are still waiting.

Crickets...

As soon as the GOP money train starts the “he’s a liberal who’s coming after your guns and religion” tv ad train…. He’ll go down faster than chicken and okra.

Anonymous said...

If the GOP primaries CHS , and she goes down, he could have a real shot

Anonymous said...

The Republicans are already on the offensive against Colom. A video has been created highlighting his positions. Game on.

I was on a grand jury under Colom. He only showed up when the single "newsworthy" case was to be presented. If he goes to DC, will he show up there?

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
