State Auditor Shad White issued the following statement.
Today State Auditor Shad White announced Special Agents from his office have arrested Phil McNeer, a former North Sunflower Medical Center (NSMC) Board of Trustees member, and Chris Waldrup, an employee of Phil McNeer, for allegedly concealing the true identity of McNeer’s business through the submission of fraudulent invoices to NSMC under Chris Waldrup’s name.

The Golfer (McNeer) |
The Office of the State Auditor has issued a $1.2 million demand to McNeer and Waldrup. This demand is the one of the ten largest demands issued during State Auditor Shad White’s time in office.
Between March 2015 and March 2025, McNeer and Waldrup allegedly submitted 216 fraudulent invoices to NSMC, causing the hospital to make payments to, and for the benefit of, businesses owned by Phil McNeer. As a NSMC board member, McNeer was prohibited by law from using his position to benefit himself or any business he is associated with.
“My office has a no-tolerance policy for theft of taxpayer dollars,” said State Auditor Shad White. “The dedicated team at the State Auditor’s Office will continue to work closely with prosecutors to get record results for taxpayers.”

The Bouncer (Waldrup) |
If convicted McNeer faces up to $26,000 in fines and up to 30 years in prison. Waldrup, if convicted, faces up to $21,000 in fines and up to 20 years in prison. All persons arrested by the Mississippi Office of the State Auditor are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Finally all the corruption at North Sunflower is starting to come out. This is only the surface level stuff. Man if Medicaid and Shad and others only knew all the crazy stuff going on there. Its novel worthy.
Thank you, Shad. Keep digging into medical fraud, please. This one is just the tip of the iceberg.
I don't know why but "The Golfer" and "The Bouncer" made me chuckle.
“My office has a no-tolerance policy for theft of taxpayer dollars,” said State Auditor Shad White, unless of course the offender is politically connected to the Republican party.
I wonder if $1.2 million is a big enough fish for the keyboard cowboys.
...and before they say "bUt It's BeEn TeN wHoLe YeArS!!!!!"
Why didn't the keyboard cowboys report the fraud earlier? Shad isn't the Gestapo no matter what the snowflakes think.
216 invoices over the course of 10 years. It’s about time someone caught this. Maybe the hospital needs to review its internal controls.
"You mean I have to follow the law"?
Where are the "low hanging fruit" trolls on this one?
these guys banged the government out of 120,000$ per year for 10 years.
about 13,500$ per month.
pretty creative .
mississippi has some of the best fraudsters in the world.
they make the nigerian scammers look like amateurs.
they could give lessons to the INDIA scammers in bombay and new deli.
it took 10 years for this to be detected....let that sink in.
i guess nobody does audits in sunflower county.
Billy Marlow dies and people start to get caught. Take me to Ruleville!
I'm assuming McNeer had the landscape/maintenance contract for NSMC?
I guess we’ll be missing the “low hanging fruit” crowd on this post.
Tip of the iceberg in Mississippi.
Serious money-- who pays? You and I do.
@12:57 this is bothing. Chump change actually. In Southeast Asia there is a huge scandal in multiple countries with flood control issues. Governments spent billiona of US Dollars on massive flood control projects post-covid, only to discover in most cases nothing was ever done besides digging a shallow ditch. No concrete got poured. Nothing. While the politicians and contractors flaunted their new wealth on social media. Meanwhile, misery is suffered by the citizens who deal with weekly flooding.
At least in the USA, we get something done despite the corruption. Well, with the exception of cities run by the Lumumba types.
This is from one of the "low hanging fruit crowd" to all of the Shad supporters. If this story is correct, and Shad's "special agents" actually arrested these two clowns, why has your beloved Shad not sent these same "special agents" to arrest the Leflore County supervisor's who Shad claims misappropriated Covid/ARPA funds? Asking for several friends, and none of us are holding our breath waiting for your answer.
They asked for a trial date next week as long as Lynn fitch is at the mic for the state.
Too bad Shadrack was not around when State Senator, local-homeboy, Robert Crook was running that place.
Guess now Shad has his 'one a month quota' covered for September. Gotta keep those press release copiers running at a steady pace between now and fall of '27.
The golfer…..hahaha.
to 8:25......... when you finish talking chicken manure to a guy who actually earns his pay..........tell us just how innocent these two con artists are.
im sure you know.
The golfer looks exactly like the Doc who charged my insurance 6 grand for seeing me, which he didn't, in the hospital(CMMC) when I had some clots 20 years ago. BCBS didn't pay it and I had to myself.
Great work detective Fife! Earlier this year the feds asked MS to repay $101 million in misspent welfare money. Where's the audit? Where's the investigation? Where's the mugshots with self-promoting statements? -- and yes, compared to $101 million it is low-hanging fruit.
Keep up, Otis. You're talking about a federal case which involves a federal agency with federal investigators if any investigation proceeds.
Get back on your bunk. Aunt Bee brings biscuits promptly at 7 a.m.
Gomer, while federal funds were misused, leading to potential federal law violations, the primary legal action in the form of the civil lawsuit is a state matter, as the state is seeking to recover its own state-administered funds.
