ESPN did a great job of honoring Coach Corso this morning.
I think it will be a very long time before anyone remotely comes close to a "game day" replacement
He retired at the top of his "game".
But I think we all knew it was time for him to start "taking it easy".
The top of his game was sometime before his stroke in 2009. They’ve been committing elder abuse ever since then.
I'll miss you Coach Corso. You will always be my pick. Enjoy your retirement; you brought so much joy to so many!
I agree with 10:36, He had a losing record of 73-85-6. It was painful to watch him being the stooge on the set. Yes he suffered from a stroke years ago and yet his family and Gameday kept putting him out there. Sad!
Guess he is a nice guy. Very average coach. As a TV personality he was OK, but much like Madden, became a character of himself later in his career.
whoever was working the kill switch on his mic yesterday needs to be checked for trauma
Caricature?
Yes it got painful at times but he really enjoying doing it. The picks were gold, even now.
Never heard of him. And yes I watch football every week of the season.
Never really cared for Corso.
He was over the top most of the time. Clownish amateur who would do/say anything to be the center of attention. He had his shtick, and I guess it worked on the simple minded.
Wore a lot of funny hats, did he?
He is getting older like all of us, but it was well done and a great tribute to a 30 year tradition. He was also 286-144 on his picks, so 7:45 is also just wrong as well as bitter and sad.
