Madison-Rankin District Attorney Bubba Bramlett issued the following statement:
District Attorney Bubba Bramlett announced today that Deondric Green, 22, of Canton was sentenced to serve the next forty years in prison by Circuit Court Judge Dewey Arthur. Green pled guilty to two counts of second-degree murder for the 2020 deaths of Robert Luckett, Jr and Dekarrie Johnson.
On October 21, 2020 Green and his then girlfriend drove to the McDonalds located on Highway 22 in Canton. Once there, he saw a car with an individual he associated with a prior altercation and opened fire on the car. All four occupants of the car were hit with two ultimately passing away from their injuries. A joint investigation between the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and the Canton Police Department uncovered that Green had been shot several months prior, and he was shooting the car at McDonalds in at attempt to get revenge.
The forty-year sentence that the Defendant was ordered to serve will be served day-for-day without the possibility of early release or parole. Judge Dewey Arthur stated, “This man has essentially been given a life sentence. McDonalds parking lots and gas stations are not shooting galleries. We have got to quit killing each other. The streets of the City of Canton are not going to be used for killing sprees.”
District Attorney Bubba Bramlett stated, “Our thoughts are with the survivors and families of the deceased victims of this senseless violence. Retaliation leads to death and destruction for all involved, and oftentimes, innocent bystanders as well. While today’s sentencing brings closure to this case, please know this: we are working tirelessly with law enforcement-state and federal-to bring the bad actors responsible for the violence in our communities to the courtroom, where they will be held accountable. If these criminals are associated with a group with bad intentions, our law enforcement agencies are working diligently to determine who the leadership and members of those groups are, who their rivals are, and we will vigorously prosecute all criminal acts attributable to them. We want the good citizens living in high crime areas to live with hope, not fear. We are making tremendous strides in these areas, and several violent criminals will be sentenced to prison in the coming weeks. Please contact law enforcement, even if you have to do so anonymously, with any information regarding criminal activity inyour area, and let’s get these criminals out of our neighborhoods and into the courtroom.

I'll take fries with that-
Do not pass go, do not collect two hundred dollars.
They also ought to make him eat at McDonalds every day he is in jail.
Sounds like his victims got what they deserved.
As normal, no blessings nor EEO sentencing in Madison Co.
“Essentially a life sentence”? He’s only 22, he’ll only be 62 when he gets out of prison (assuming he actually stays the full sentence). He’ll have maybe 20 more years to kill some other people.
Hey 2:05....not once will he get a meal anywhere as good as anything on a fast food menu
Whoever he shot at may have his sentence shortened on the inside.
Unlike Hinds County, in Madison County if you do the crime, you do the time.
If my calculatin' is right, he will be able to draw social security the day he gets out.
And, by the way, forty years for two deliberate murders does sound like Hinds County. So, da jurdge did bless him for his guilty plea. Life sentence my ass!
The city of Canton is the minor leagues for Jackson, so we play by Hinds/Jackson rules at times.
"The streets of the City of Canton are not going to be used for killing sprees.” Someone didn't pass out that memo up here.
