Rankin Deputies Seize Over 200 lbs of Cocaine

Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey issued the following statement.

On Friday, February 4, a deputy with the Rankin County Interstate Interdiction Team observed a large passenger bus traveling eastbound on Interstate 20 driving erratically.  The deputy made a stop for a traffic violation near Pelahatchie.  After speaking with the driver and his passenger, the deputy observed extremely nervous behavior coming from both occupants.  The deputy asked for and received consent to search the bus.  After other deputies with the interdiction group responded deputies began to search the bus. When a search of the bus was started, one of the suspects attempted to flee the scene and was quickly apprehended.  Deputies continued their search and located approximately twenty (20) wrapped packages.  FREDY GUTIERREZ and GABRIEL MANUEL were then placed under arrest.  A further search of the vehicle then resulted in 96 kilograms (213 pounds) of what was later determined to be cocaine.  The estimated street value of the cocaine is approximately $14,000,000.  GUTIERREZ and MANUEL were transported to the Rankin County Adult Detention Center where they are being charged with aggravated trafficking.  District Attorney Bubba Bramlett will bring both before Rankin County Court Judge David Morrow for an initial appearance.

What is suspicious about an empty bus with Texas plates heading East being driven by Hispanics?

Good job Rankin S.O.

What the hell is the definition or image of a 'large passenger bus'?

'Erratic Driving' you say.

America has been Berry Berry Good to Me said...

Cartel members?

Like we said in the 70s….there’s a reason it’s called dope.

Somebody's going to be upset

I don’t know the particulars of this situation, but I do know if you’re driving while Hispanic on I-20 in Rankin County, you’re going to get pulled over. And Therese will likely be there sticking a camera in your face.

These drug traffickers often carry substantial sums of money on these drug runs. They very often report finding little or no cash on these drug arrests.

The one that was meant to be stopped so the others can make it through.

And y’all are worried about a 60 year old undergoing chemo getting a gummy. Open your eyes people.

Wait. I thought pot just turned legal

Judge Ratliff is going to give them 25 years each like handing out Halloween candy. Boys, when your hot….your hot. Welcome to Club Parchman.

Once again, a 'lucky random' stop results in a large drug seizure. Damn them Rankin Co. boys are good.

What happens to the coke?

“ The deputy asked for and received consent to search the bus….When a search of the bus was started, one of the suspects attempted to flee the scene and was quickly apprehended.”

Hmmm.

Makes you wonder about that “consent”.

Lots of coke withdrawals in Atlanta today.

Someone tell me Please.

Why is it only Rankin County who bust these Drug smugglers!
Hinds, Alabama, Louisiana, Newton, Warren always gives them a free pass.

Profiling works!

Check the bus for a tracking device (it has one) and have some fun by placing it on the next Canadian National outbound.

@8:54 drugs go east, money goes west. Rankin County is part of a network of law enforcement agencies who share intelligence on these traffickers, then its comes down to who is willing to sit in the median of the interstate until a certain vehicle travels past. Many other agencies are successful but arresting these people rarely make headlines other than locally.

At least cocaine doesn't smell like ass.

Anonymous said...

11:23 is correct. Money and dope travel separately.

Anonymous said...

Rankin SO now has a prisoner bus. And no, the suspects aren't HISPANIC, they are Latino.

We've heard for years about 'tag-readers- being the main instrumental player in this scenario. Now you goobs come out of the termite nest accusing LEO of profiling.

"The one that was meant to be stopped so the others can make it through. February 5, 2022 at 9:04 AM"

So, do you know anybody who is willing to go to the penitentiary for twenty five years so another drug runner can slip on through? Do you realize how ignorant your suggestion is?

Anonymous said...

Yes @8:54 11:25 is correct. I have a close friend in narcotics in Louisiana. He says Homeland tracks how often your license plate crosses any state line on all interstates. They also have the the pictures of the drivers. They FOR SURE share this information. So most of the big busts on the interstate are planned. Depends on the size of the narcotics/intelligence department. Homeland has a their own helicopter in north Louisiana that they will do large drug and counterfeit surveillance with. There are so many joint task force type operations that happen. A lot of these operations are funded with grant money.

@1:13
Decoys are selected because they are too stupid to know they are decoys.
You are a simple country boy who probably actually believes that:
Pearl Harbor was unprovoked
Saddam and bin Laden masterminded 9/11
Gulf of Tonkin was real
Spain really sunk the USS Maine
USS Liberty attack was an accident

Welp~ that sucks for the person who lost all that coke in transit.
Too bad.

Thankful for the LEO, Drug Interdiction staff and other personnel who assisted to get this done.

Niknar Law is taking names and kicking ass!

Thanks Bubba and Bryan.

1:40 - 80% is generally considered a "B". Congrats; four out of five is a pretty good batting average.

@1:13 lives in LaLa Land. You absolutely have no clue how they these people operate. Have you ever worked HIDTA STT, PR, JIATF excitement in Central America? Stick being excited about this little bust.

Glad my shit got here right on time.

@4:38PM
Brilliant reply.

Somebody will be very unhappy this shipment did not get to its destination. Too bad!!

Country Boy said...

@1:40 - I may be a country boy, but I'm not so melon-headed as to believe your decoy theorum. You think Rankin only has one guy in goggles on a motorbike behind a billboard? Not to worry. While one is bustin' the van, there are four more capable of casting a net over several more who have been identified for the previous 175 miles.

Obviously you're totally unaware of the reality provided in the post at 1:15. You think the whole thing is an end-around triple-reverse with the decoy headed left when the ball is headed right. Keep cookin' that Niknar meth and you'll be fine.

Anonymous said...

@7:07
I know exactly how it works.
“Informants” provide leads on travelers and those are entered into a private corporate database called Black Asphalt that the RCSO pays to access with. They then sit in their Tahoes in the side of the interstate scanning license plates until they get a hit in their software. Then they come up with some excuse to pull the driver over. One out of 10 times they harass a driver, they get a hit. But they harass a lot of innocent drivers and are surveilling everyone in a very dystopian manner.

Anonymous said...

9:29 - What does Rankin S.O. keep all their black helicopters and that submarine?

Anonymous said...

@4:45 PM Our sub is in the Rez, and the black helicopters are invisible and use whisper mode, but that all that I can say about that.

Anonymous said...

Anyone ever seen a follow up report on a conviction or sentencing on these type of bust in Rankin?! Nope didn’t think so. You think the cartel is going to keep sending their people and product through Rankin? Hahahaha, common sense just isn’t a thing these days.

Anonymous said...

8:45 It's simple. Drugs go East, cash goes West.

Anonymous said...

If you are going to work for the cartel, probably best to haul the cash west and not the drugs east, or at least better to get caught with cash. You can buy a reduction or outright dismissal of any charges (less serious for possessing cash anyway) by failing to challenge the forfeiture of the money. "I don't know who put 600k in my trunk." Rankin county would rather have new Tahoes than your butt in jail. But, if I was in human resources in cartel, I would make them run both ways. No cherry picking the route or cargo.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
