Go Speed Racer

WLBT reported drag racing is still a problem on Northside Drive:

While four months after the Jackson City Council passed a new measure aimed at ending street racing and reckless driving, many residents say they can’t tell anything has changed.

“There’s still constant racing, loud engines just always flying past us on Northside Drive. I almost got hit just the other day, actually,” said north Fondren resident Chris Wilbourn. “Had a guy swerve around me and then take off at probably speeds of 60, 70 miles an hour.”

Wilbourn’s experience — as well as other residents who declined to talk on-camera for this story — is anecdotal, however, as no data on arrests, citations, or fines from the city’s street racing ordinance has been released at this point.... Rest of article.

If only there were city employees who drove super-fast vehicles and had arrest powers.

"If only there were city employees who drove super-fast vehicles and had arrest powers." Wonder how many of the drag racers are city employees. This is not limited to Northside Drive.

If memory serves me, JPD has a no pursuit policy unless it is Felony. Careless/Reckless driving is a misdemeanor.

Title 63 - MOTOR VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC REGULATIONS
Chapter 3 - TRAFFIC REGULATIONS AND RULES OF THE ROAD
Article 25 - RECKLESS OR CARELESS DRIVING AND MISCELLANEOUS RULES
§ 63-3-1201 - Reckless driving

Any person who drives any vehicle in such a manner as to indicate either a willful or a wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property is guilty of reckless driving. Reckless driving shall be considered a greater offense than careless driving.

Every person convicted of reckless driving shall be punished upon a first conviction by a fine of not less than Five Dollars ($ 5.00) nor more than One Hundred Dollars ($ 100.00), and on a second or subsequent conviction he may be punished by imprisonment for not more than ten (10) days or by a fine of not exceeding Five Hundred Dollars ($ 500.00), or by both.

Jackistan, all of it, is lost. Get your heads out of your rectum and move, or quit complainining and enjoy the suck.

If y'all had any guts you would have mass weekly organized protests at city hall, but when I have suggested this in the past the response is "there is no parking."

GMAFB

This is why the left/entitled crowd always gets what they want, but conservative law abiding taxpayers sit around and do nothing, and get nothing.

But…wait…JPD is ticketing at least 50-60 people a day going 5-10 mph over speed limit on Ridgewood. Guess low-hanging fruit is fruitful, and safe

Boy Chok isn't going to do a damn thing. He's like a limp d--k, it doesn't do anybody any good.

@10:08, 1] they're ticketing on Ridgewood since the odds are better that the drivers being ticketed actually have the means to pay the ticket and, 2] the Emperor Mayor doesn't want any speeding right outside the wall that separates his mansion from the commoners.

whenever I see these clowns I am always curious which creature was the hair harvested for their hilarious weave extensions?

You know that you are a curmudgeonly old man when you get this upset at young people having a good time!

October 26, 2021 at 12:21 PM; your question has been brought up before and answered on previous posts regarding this same issue, but i will answer again. who's gonna pay for this drag strip. and why would these folks that are racing pay to race somewhere else when they already have free reign over the streets of jackson.

a smart person would know that it would be cheaper for them to pay to race, considering the cost of repairs to rims, tires and suspension from racing on jackson's streets. but then, we aren't taking about the smartest people in the room, either.

Ban muscle cars.
Seriously
Nobody races a Toyota Prius or Honda Insight.
The ones that aren’t being raced are just sitting in some old boomers garage waiting for the owner to die.

They are also racing 2 blocks from the JPD headquarters downtown. On State Street across from Martins and down by the strip clubs. There are bullet holes in the street signs by Dannys. Soooooo ummmm yeah.

Would speed bumps help put a stop to street racing? Probably naive, I know. Seems like the repaving of streets only leads to more street racing.

"This is an unfortunate and a senseless crime that no agency has the means of preventing and is also very difficult to predict."

Oh, wait, that just applies to triple-homicides, in a city that is on-pace to set its fourth consecutive per-capita homicide record.

9:59, Once the blue lights come on, fleeing in a reckless manner becomes "felony fleeing." As far as I know, Mayor Lumumba II's no-chase policy still applies.

"..where’s Batman when he’s needed?"

He's secure in the Madison Bat Cave. Other than in a photo-op with The Mayor, when was the last time in 30 years you've seen the Chief up there in public? At his upcoming retirement cheese-and-ham farewell, ain't nobody gone recognize him. Something be workin'.

Speaking of which...who could pick the Jackson PoPo Chief out of a lineup?

'Cause legal drag strips don't allow no weapons, drugs, cursing or genital display and you can't be breakin' no laws in Jackson or they'll take you down highway 18 for counselin'.

Bet you don't even have insurance like most of jackistan. It's all fun and games until you T-bone someone and kill them. The sad part will be the relatives won't even be able to get anything from the thugs since they don't have any assets.

12:21 PM
Is Hawkins Air Field even used anymore?

12:42: Should we also ban fast food restaurants to prevent littering? Or ban the Internet to prevent idiocy?

Zzzzzz.

Please Lord, just return and end us all now. We can longer solve simple problems or have a rational thought without issue. The great reset indeed. Every gain we have made has been wiped away in shorter than 20 years.

It’s all over the place, just watch some IG videos and you’ll laugh at how harmless these Jackson clowns are compared to other states. I’m surprised it’s taken over 15 years for it to make it to Mississippi. People used drag race on McDowell Rd and Hwy80/Van Winkle before it became the Hood, I believe Capitol Street too back in the 70’s.

Attn 11:29 How can you not have the money to pay fines when you have enough to build a street racer and put racing tires on them. I guess it is the same honor system as paying your water bill in Jackson.

“... said north Fondren resident".

North Fondren ?

Gawd that's funny !
These goofy hipster kids still think ancient West Northside Drive neighborhoods are part of "The Fondren".

That's not much different than the mythical "Mid Town District" (west of the Millsaps campus over to
the rail tracks and up to Woodrow Wilson).

The guys racing on Northside Drive are just some good ole boys, never meaning no harm. They beat all you ever saw. They’ve probably been in trouble with the law since the day they were born.

As long as 80 year old grandparents, auntie, or uncle can be coerced into cosigning a $1000.00 per month note for seven years, these thugs will buy high powered Chargers, Mercedes, Audis, etc. I see this quite frequently. They will drive them at least until the third payment is late !!!!

All you guys never hung out on Beasley Rd late on a Friday night huh?

Muscle cars aren't new. You're just getting old and information is easy to come by.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
