The increase in deaths (even in this least vaccinated state) is very small compared to case numbers. Deaths in MS are up threefold from their low point, while cases are approaching twenty-fold increase. In other, more vaccinated places (like the UK) the difference is even more stark.
This seems to show that vaccines --even when they don't prevent infection outright-- do a tremendous job at preventing mortality.
We should all be grateful to live in a country where science and industry were able to create this miraculously effective vaccine so quickly.

4:01 -- There is no contradiction. The vaccine generally lowers the likelihood of infection, per Dobbs' comment. And beyond that, if you are infected, it greatly reduces the likely severity.
It may be true that the variant is less dangerous, but we can't rely on that being the case for future variants. Regardless, we know this cannot be the sole or primary driver of lower death numbers because of the overwhelming majority of deaths are among the unvaccinated.
If the vaccine were not lowering mortality, we would expect fatalities to be distributed closer to 50/50, reflecting the overall vaxxed/unvaxxed ratio. Or at most 75/25, reflecting the ratio among the elderly.

Answer is: The lowest 7 day average (104) was reached on 6-20-2021. As of now, the 7 day average is 2,028, increase of 1,950% over 45 days. We've NEVER increased this quickly before, not once.
It's fluctuated a little during the 45 days, but we are, in general, doubling (the 7 day average) about every 10 days.
The current highest 7 day, 2,432, was reached on 1-9-2021. At our current rate of growth, that will be surpassed quite soon, probably before 8-10-2021. The lack of weekend numbers makes analysis harder.
Hospitalization lag infections, and deaths lag even further. And school starts next week...

No, it is not equally valid. 625,000 deaths and millions of hospitalizations from COVID compared to a relatively small handful of adverse reactions to the vaccine make such a comparison totally meaningless. You might as well be saying “isn’t being fearful of being caught by your seat belt while overturned in a creek and drowning equally as valid as it saving your life in a crash?”
The vaccine was tested for safety for eight months prior to authorization with the first test doses given in late March 2020 and over 100,000 getting it by August. If you really believe it is as deadly as the disease after that much testing you’re just tin-foil hat paranoid.

This just isn't true as to doctors and misleading as to "nurses." The facts are that somewhere north of 90% of practicing doctors are vaccinated. I do not personally know a single doctor or nurse who didn't get vaccinated as soon as they could (and I know a lot of them). The general term "nurse" can fairly cover a lot of people (and be tortured into covering even more people) and while they have a lower vaccination rate than doctors, in broad terms the more training and experience a "nurse" has, the more likely he or she is to be vaccinated. I am also close friends with a handful of people in the research field related to this very subject, one of whom spent their entire career specifically on this subject. Not only are they vaccinated, their immediate family members, included age-appropriate grandchildren, are vaccinated. Many facilities and systems are mandating vaccinations. If any significant number of doctors and "nurses" felt the vaccines were dangerous, there would be open, widespread condemnation and revolt. There isn't and most doctors were vaccinated well before it was required. When vaccines were being tiered, there were accusations that medical professionals, not just doctors, were "jumping the line" and getting vaccinated before they were eligible. To save time when someone cites some crackpot who managed to get an MD or DO and now sells bullshit to the gullible (like that disgraced snake-oil peddler and his wife in Florida), yes, there are "crackpot" "doctors" out there, just like any other profession.
These are not "experimental" or "gene therapy," these are vaccines (no asterisk needed). The focus on death and survival rate is woefully misplaced. To a near-certainty (there are no absolutes), folks are much more at risk of short- and long-term negative health effects from COVID than the vaccines. Moreover, even if one chooses to foolishly believe that the mRNA vaccines are not what they actually are, the viral vector type is a different thing. Good, bad, or indifferent, the same arguments and claims simply cannot apply to both. That folks who are "anti-vaccine" do use the same argument(s) against both methods should help show how uninformed and misplaced those arguments are. The virus is real and deadly to those in the high risk group (elderly over 70 and the obese). For those, the vaccine should be strongly considered. Others can weigh thier own risks and decide.
This vaccine is not without its own risks. Many of those risks are unknown because we haven't had the studies completed, and we don't have reliable data.

So if at 6 pm on a given day 97% of patients hospitalized in that system due to COVID are unvaccinated, that is precisely what they are reporting. Plain, present facts.

I'm sorry but I cannot respect or be " friends" with someone who is willing to risk my life and now the lives of children for their convenience or for profit.
I can't " come together" with anti-vaxxers or hoax claimers any more that I could " come together" with a member of ISIS. The disregard for innocent life and the brain washing and the "my way or else" mentality are the same.
There are no excuses for not being vaccinated. The "side effects" are rare and easily treated ...the cardio problems have scary names, but you know to do something and there's a fix.
There is no excuse for not wearing a good mask now ( N95 and KN95 masks are cheap and plentiful) and you reduce the amount of exposure to another even if you are contagious. Those who don't cover their noses or lift the mask to talk or for photo ops , may as well have " stupid" tattooed on their forehead.
It's called being a good person and a good citizen and having common sense to reduce the amount of virus you may unknowingly expel...it's the difference between a mild exposure and a deadly one.

Even if this veritable, er, rogue's gallery of super-villains (what, are you forgetting Buffett - Warren, not Jimmy, Bezos, Ballmer, Slim, and the rest of the "Rich Guys Who Can't Dance Worth A Shit Club") did have a "depopulation agenda," a vaccine is very poor way to accomplish it. The vast majority of folks in Mississippi (and the rest of the US) have been vaccinated already and long before those guys were anyone (or born). In the 1980s and 90s MS had one of the highest vaccination rates in the US of the 4:3:1:3* combined series (about 85% per year and the 4:3:1:3* is 4+ doses of DTaP, 3+ of Polio, 1+ of MMR, and Hib full series, could be 3 or 4), and in the late 70s or very early 80s, the Mississippi Supreme Court struck down the short-lived non-medical exemption for school-age vaccines. So unless you were a 6-year-old Christian Scientist circa 1977, you've likely been vaccinated. None of your super-villains could have had the slightest thing to do with development much less the distribution and administering of those (or the MSSC doing what it did). Mississippi has had vaccination requirements since before even Warren Buffett was born, much less Bill Gates (apparently the ultimate boogeyman - but not _boogie_ man - of the tin-foil-hat-wearing loons).

To the people commenting that purport to represent the medical field: can you verify your assertions that the vast majority of doctors have taken the shots?
I don’t doubt a majority of doctors have chosen to take these shots recommended by the CDC. Doctors are just people like everyone else. I know doctors who have done some really stupid things. They are not gods. Specialists know a lot about a very small part of medicine. General practitioners know a little about many things. Most GPs still prescribe statins to folks to lower cholesterol, when there is still no proof that they do a thing. They do, however, often have some serious side effects. Both I and my wife were at one time prescribed statins. We both developed bad joint pain. We both got off that poison and the pain went away. We are both fit and healthy - 90% of our diet is healthy. No sugar drinks, very little processed or junk food, almost no fast food. We exercise daily. We will take our chances with slightly elevated cholesterol in exchange for a better quality of life with no joint pain. Yet the doctors will say we are headed to an early grave - including those doctors who eat a crap diet and have other terrible lifestyle habits.
Doctors follow whatever the medical establishment sends down the line and recommends. All of which is heavily influenced by the pharmaceutical industry, whose primary motivation is PROFIT, not health. Like any for-profit business, the service or product being sold is simply a means to an end - profit. This is not bad in and of itself. However, when snake oil is sold for profit or an experimental genetic therapy is sold without sufficient testing, with the general population serving as the trial guinea pigs, that is immoral.
Doctors are just fallible human beings subject to the same silliness as the rest of humanity. I’m glad we have them, but one has to use one’s own judgement sometimes and not just blindly obey the doctor.

I cannot take much exception to anything you've posted - a perfectly reasonable position articulated in a perfectly reasonable fashion. And yes, doctors are people and I too know some that have done some very foolish things. I have done foolish things. I will not make specific comments about specific medical conditions.
As to the question about the majority of doctors having been vaccinated, yes, that is easily verified. I won't claim that every hospital and system in the US is reporting vaccination rates to the media because I don't personally know that, but many or most are. Simply go to a news outlet in whatever location you wish to know about (for examples in MS, go to the Jackson or coast outlets) and search for hospital vaccination rates. I know that the Jackson and coast (SRHS and Ochsner, which includes much of south LA, including New Orleans) hospitals/systems have reported them, as have all of those of which I am aware in FL, AL, and TX. Keep in mind to differentiate between "employee rates" and "physician rates." That is true of any medical/science entity, i.e., the FDA, CDC, etc. Also keep in mind that the larger the entity, the larger number of non-medical employees, i.e., maintenance, janitorial, business, etc., staff.
I would offer some personal observations/suggestions especially to anyone who wishes to do the research on this for themselves, which I encourag with a caveat.
The caveat is to realize that the average layperson does not know or understand most or even any of the medicine, science, or even processes for any of this. That isn't anything "bad" - there is no reason for people to know things completely outside of their profession or trade. Doctors as a whole know little or nothing about building codes and electricians and plumbers know little or nothing about thoracic or neurosurgery. That should not come as a surprise to anyone. A good example of this misunderstanding is the FDA approval. At this point, the approval is largely a bureaucratic matter rather than anything to do with science or medical aspects. Prior to these vaccines, the biggest complaint was that the FDA approval process was often mired in bureaucracy and kept medically-proven drugs unavailable for too long, thereby denying patients treatments that could alleviate all manner of illness and disease.

That said, the science and medicine behind both the mRNA and (especially) viral vector vaccines is not new or "experimental" in the way often alleged. It is well-understood (not "perfectly") and most of it would be quite uncontroversial if not for those whipping up a firestorm using completely misinterpreted information to make totally false allegations and assumptions. Some are doing it out of a sincere belief, albeit an erroneous one, in their position(s), but many are doing it for personal monetary or political gain (which often are related).
Perhaps more telling than doctors is the vaccination rates among the researchers involved. On one of these threads, someone cited a study by Uri Manor of the Salk Institute as support to be "anti-vaccine" and as a example of the dangers of the mRNA vaccine. The poster was simply parroting months-old claims made by other "anti-vaxxers." Not surprisingly, Manor heard about it and immediately attempted to correct the misinterpretations while emphatically stating that not only had he been vaccinated, he recommended that everyone should get vaccinated. The misinterpretations, etc. were covered by numerous medical journals and publications so a lot of people in related fields heard about it. Not only was there was no support for the misinterpretations, many publicly joined Manor in support for the mRNA vaccines.
Which brings us to the "conspiracy claims" aspect of these vaccines. No one with any common sense at all could seriously believe that there could be a successful conspiracy - on vaccines or what is for lunch - among literally millions of people around the world, many or most of whom have not and will never even hear about each other, much less communicate in any form. For those who choose to believe such is possible, nothing can instill objectivity, reason or common sense in those who actively refuse to even consider any of them.
Lastly, as to "rights," yes, I think people should and do have many rights, including the right to refuse vaccinations for good, bad, or no reason. However, like with all rights and the invocation of them, rights come with consequences and responsibilities. In the case of these vaccines, a person who refuses based upon their right to refuse should be (and likely will be) forced to accept certain consequences, from lack of employment to refusal of service at many establishments. The rest of the public and business entities also have rights, including the right to be free from the consequences of another person's poor judgment. Individual rights are not absolute. For example, someone with small pox does not have the right to infect others and would be quarantined, by force if necessary, if they attempted to go out in public. The debate over whether or not they should have that right is pointless - the courts have spoken on it and they do not have such a recognized right. The courts have not yet spoken as to these vaccines specifically, but it certainly appears that they will have to address it. Past decisions, both by state and Federal courts, pretty much assure that COVID and its vaccines will be treated no differently than other such diseases and vaccines. And that brings us full-circle back to the known and understood aspect of these vaccines - there is no overarching objective medical reason for COVID or the vaccines to fight it to be treated any differently than other diseases and vaccines have been treated - ahem - for the last 100+ years.
A recent Johns Hopkins study claims more than 250,000 people in the U.S. die every year from medical errors. Other reports claim the numbers to be as high as 440,000.
Medical errors are the third-leading cause of death after heart disease and cancer.
