Mississippi: 80, Hinds: 7, Rankin: 3, Madison: 3

CCJ reports a case.

The Mississippi State Department of Health reported 30 new cases of the Coronavirus yesterday. The total number of cases for Mississippi is 80.  There has only been one death so far although more are expected.

The Country Club of Jackson sent this email to its members last weekend.

I would like to address the rumor mill, and set many of your minds at ease. Sunday afternoon I too heard the rumor that a member with a positive test for COVID-9 had come out to the Club and played golf, attended the Saturday
night wedding reception, etc.  I called the member in question and asked first hand what the situation was, and he reported:

1. He had no symptoms and thus played golf FRIDAY; he did NOT enter any buildings, didn't even pull the flag pins

2. He was diagnosed SATURDAY, and has been home quarantined ever since

3. He did NOT attend the reception, did NOT play golf on Saturday, enter the 19th Hole, etc.

The member in question, xxxxx xxxxxx , has given me permission to use his name as the rumors are both widespread and false.  To be clear, upon learning he was positive for COVID-19 on SATURDAY, he has been in home quarantine.

I hope this helps put many of your minds at ease.

As this COVID-19 scenario runs it's course, your CCJ will continue to adapt accordingly. Please check for email updates regarding changes to normal operating procedures as they happen As I previously stated, the situation is fluid; however, we will do everything possible to remain your place to
come and relax, particularly during these stressful times.

These are the last few of the good days we have left. The world may never be as good again. The virus is airborne.

U may be correct.

Also, if it’s your time to die...it’s just...your time to die.
People get ready...there’s a train a coming.

Are y’all ready to meet ur maker??

I thought it took a couple of days to get a positive test result. You also need a doctor to prescribe the test. He had to be symptomatic before Friday if he was tested and got the result on Saturday.

So this moron was symptomatic, then went to the doctor and got a Covid-19 test, and then decided to go out and play a round of golf while waiting on the results? I hope he has a good attorney.

How do you explain the limited number of cases in Japan, Russia, Mexico, etc. are they not testing, not reporting?

@1:25
All three countries arent panic prone chicken littles.

A friend's daughter got her test back today. Positive. Lives in Jackson. Was at a party at a local bar last weekend. The numbers will soar over the next week in the USA but that doesn't mean the recent measures are not working. It means we were about a week to ten days too late implementing serious measures. You'll see the new cases slow down in about 10 more days, meanwhile observe the hysteria.

Maybe the legislature could require Phil Bryant to donate all of his unused millions of campaign funds toward helping patients.

My kid and I are on quarantine. She’s had fever and cough for 4 days. We live in north MS but she had been visiting in Jackson last weekend. Waiting on test results. I can tell you that she has been miserable. Kids might recover, but only an extremely insensitive person would put their kid at high risk of contracting it.

This is bad and following Italy's model. 50% increase every day or two. So, 50 has become 80, then 120, 180, 270, etc. Logarithmic scales are hard to grasp and get very big quickly. Find the chart about Italy's rate of infection.
I don't have hope we'll do better.

Where are all the them FEMA Katrina Campers. Put up a FEMA Camp and lock them in until they are all well.

I quit the CCJ yesterday. Resigned. It make me sick that these arrogant, pompous, privileged asses are actually sending out emails to the members stating new guidelines for golf cart usage, AS SO MANY PEOPLE ARE PLAYING GOLF.....4 somes, 5 somes. 200+ golfers all day long, trading carts, having drinks, on and on. I mean can the CCJ not get with the program? Is the membership that self absorbed, selfish and narcissistic? WHY have they NOT shut the club down, like restaurants and organizations all over the country?

Complete nothing burger. We've been out and about town all day. Inconvenienced by this hoax, but otherwise business as usual. Feel bad for all of the poors that are now out of work. It is unfortunate that your ancestors failed to build generational wealth.

@3:34
You must be trolling because 15+ year old rotten used campers are nothing but a coffin today.

Italy IS NOT an example to use. Italy is a worst-case example and there are more differences than similarities when attempting to compare

Unfortunately in a week or so some of you smart asses will now be able to comment. You will be too sick, if your lucky enough to still be with us.

@3:47 PM - those legislators have to spend their per diem someplace, so it might as well be on drinks at the CCJ.

5:31. Keep up. The legislature has gone home. Duh.

Total lie.
There is no way he was fine on Fri and played golf.
Then woke up Sat w symptoms, got tested and got results back all on Sat.

He got tested Thur and results came back Sat.
Everyone knows they don’t test unless you show symptoms. So he had symptoms on Thur. Then played golf on Fri. Then got the bad news on Sat.
I hope he is never my doctor!

Agreed. I dabbled with the first week of MS numbers on Wednesday (34 cases)
Next five days predicted 51 (50), 77 (80), 115, 172, 258…
The problem with the numbers as they are being reported is they represent roughly 20ish% (symptomatic) of cases one week ago. Move that curve a week to the left and adjust for the asymptomatic if you want a more accurate number.

@3:47 pm, the CCJ is not serving food or drink inside. Those facilities are closed. Members can play outside sports. For golf several restrictions in place. No need to go inside to register. What is arrogant about all of this? Not a thing. Glad you quit.

Kingfish said...

They are serving outside, if I'm not mistaken.

I don't have a problem with playing golf. Small groups of people, fairly isolated activity outdoors. Also keeps domestic violence down on both sides since we are now out of hunting season.

@3:01 MS rates are about 50%.

Quick math lesson: with 140 cases, at 50% daily increase, it takes 25 days to infect entire state. Then only 10 more to infect 300 Million people in the USA. And that's starting with 140 in Mississippi ONLY.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
