Clinton Police Receives Accreditation

The city of Clinton issued the following statement.

Following a two year evaluation process, the Clinton Police Department has been named an Accredited Agency by the Mississippi Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission. Clinton becomes the twenty-eighth (28) law enforcement agency in Mississippi to receive the prestigious designation.

With over 350 law enforcement agencies in the state of Mississippi, this accreditation is difficult to attain and represents the highest standards in Mississippi Law Enforcement.

“When I was hired and came here to the city, I had a goal in mind: that was accreditation,” stated Chief Ford Hayman. After recruiting Officer Derek Brown from the Jackson Police Department in February for his contribution to Jackson PD receiving their accreditation, Hayman gave Brown an (18) eighteen month timeline to receive accreditation for the Clinton Police Department. Brown surpassed that timeline with the Mississippi Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission providing a site visit on September 4th and 5th of this year. In early November, the department was notified that CPD received their accreditation.

To attain accreditation, CPD was required to comply with (126) one hundred twenty-six standards for state accreditation during a (2) two year self-assessment. Mississippi State Accreditation standards cover both law enforcement functions, communication functions, and detention functions of an agency.

“Police officers are held to a higher standard. So the question is ‘What is that standard?’ Accreditation is it. The Mississippi Law Enforcement Accreditation Program is a series of 140 professional standards based on current best practices from around our country,” stated Chief Luke Thompson of Byram Police Department and Head of the Mississippi Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission.

Accreditation benefits the residents of Clinton by ensuring that CPD meets the highest standards and shows the continued commitment to excellence by the officers and staff of CPD. In addition, the accreditation is useful to help lower the liability insurance premiums for the City of Clinton’s Police Department.

“These standards include things such as use of force, police pursuit policies, search and seizure. All of those items in police department that expose you, as well as the Police Department and individual police officers to the greatest amount of liability. Our (Accreditation Commission) purpose is to provide a standard for your law enforcement and police officers to operate by to limit your risk and exposure to that liability,” added Chief Thompson.

Under the leadership of Mayor Phil Fisher and direction of the Chief of Police, Ford Hayman, the Clinton Police Department serves and protects Clinton residents and students at Mississippi College. The agency is dedicated to having a police force that equally represents the demographics of the City and is using their recruitment program to increase their sworn ranks and eliminate any under-representation.

Accreditation is an acknowledgement that the Clinton Police Department has met the highest standards required of Public Safety agencies in Mississippi. Chief Hayman’s proactive approach to decreasing criminal behavior has resulted in decreased statistics of property crime, robbery, and aggravated assault from 2016 to 2019.

Accreditation is not the end of the efforts to serve the residents of Clinton. Accreditation is the beginning of the efforts to continually represent Clinton with professionalism and honor.

Now, if only Ole Miss could get accredited. At least as a community college.

Holding police officers or military officers to the highest of standards is absolutely critical in a nation of laws.

No exceptions.

City of Clinton is the best city in the state of Mississippi!

This seems to me like a worthless accreditation (almost like a self-audit), how about earning a real and independent accreditation like CALEA?

And "...highest standards in Mississippi law enforcement..." what does that even look like?

Good work, Chief Hayman!

I was hoping to see the list of those cities that are accredited. Would be interesting to see.

They are not already???!!??? That’s law enforcement 101!!!! Someone has been asleep at the switch!!!

@2:13pm - Too bad it’s located in the worst county in the state. Y’all need to pick up and move everything over to Madison County between Gluckstadt and Canton. Y’all would make a great buffer city for little Jackson to the north of us. Y’all are already used to having a war zone on your eastern front. It would be an improvement, as Canton isn’t as bad as Jackson (yet). And you’d benefit from having functional county services and a circuit court district that would actually put away the criminals y’all arrest. Best hurry though, Canton is trying to annex everything in a 30 mile radius for dem tax revenues.

@ 2:15 CALEA is not what you think it is. Its the same as what Clinton just received but with many more hoops to jump thru

5:36 - You have no idea what you're commenting on. At best, this is a 2.5 year process for most departments. Minimum 2 years.

I’m telling you it’s a great honor. Ha BS. You pay about 10k to get them to sign off on you and they rewrite all your policies to make them more suspect friendly. Don’t be fooled it’s just some BS that sound good

Once again, there is no topic brought to this board for which there is a shortage of experts.

Congrats to Clinton.

The Mississippi accreditation is BS. CALEA is the one you want but most departments in the state cannot meet the CALEA standard.

CALEA is the "gold standard," but only according the CALEA. They are based in liberal blue-city Gainesville, Virginia.

The majority of Gainesville's voters voted for Clinton.

Their website is in English AND Spanish.

CALEA is the liberal's feel-good wet dream for LE certification.

Why would anyone want some left-wing OUT-OF-STATE organization to certify their LE agency?

In case you missed it the first time, their website is in English AND Spanish. That is liberal dog-whistle speak for libtard.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
