Very light turnout at my NE Jackson precinct at noon today. Not sure what to make of that, if anything.

Anonymous said...

Hearing Tater Tot surged at the end. Tater by 10.

Anonymous said...

12:52- Tate is very nervous and should be. No way by 10.

Anonymous said...

skipped the Dent Thomas Senate seat. neither a viable choice

Anonymous said...

Mississippi loses with Hood or Tate. Delbert no help either. I voted for Bill Waller(again).

Anonymous said...

I'll admit to what I voted anonymously. Hood was the only D on my ballot. Otherwise a write in for any non competitive elections.

Anonymous said...

No way Hood wins. Whites aren't crossing over.

I moved to Texas this year and my vote today was to prevent the state from instituting an income tax (God bless Texas!). If I were still in Mississippi, my conservative butt would be voting for a Democrat for governor for the first time ever.

I have many friends in Mississippi...many conservative friends...and none of them are voting Tater. If he wins he'll be the least popular governor since Musgrove.

I never thought I'd wish for Jim Hood to be governor.

Anonymous said...

As a life long Republican and always voting for Republicans, I voted for Hood. Just can't stand Tate and his lies and politics of hate. I did vote for all other Republicans.

Anonymous said...

hood only d on my ballot. when given the choice of a D or no one, i voted a write in-bugs bunny. paper ballot. clinton. white R. did cross over, 1:35..

Anonymous said...

goofy Ray mabus robo call sealed it for me to vote Fitch.

Anonymous said...

1:35 "Whites aren't crossing over". What kind of assinine statement is that? You must've emerged from your basement to cast your narrow little vote today. Good for you for exercising your right. However, I am white. I am typically a Republican voter. I crossed over today as are many, many people that I know. So, yes, there is a way.

Anonymous said...

Same as 1:34PM for me. Hood, then all republicans. Not that it mattered much, it was mostly unopposed...

Anonymous said...

Hey 1:35PM. I'm white, male, late 40's and voted Hood as the only D on my ticket.

Anonymous said...

I tire of seeing candidates campaigning with their sleeves rolled up. How lame.

Anonymous said...

Here's a prediction: Reeves 48.5%, Hood 45.5%, Singletary [the marijuana guy] 3.0%, Hickingbottom 2.0%, other 1.0%. The House decides, and we all know how that will turn out.

Anonymous said...

Vote Independent. Vote 420! :)

Anonymous said...

If you think Hood has any chance you probably should spend less time in insluar Jackson and Oxford.

Anonymous said...

What hot local races are there, if any?

Anonymous said...

It kills me to vote for a Democrat, but I did it for Hood, and for Mississippi.

JunctionJohn said...

Anyone know the odds on Joe Moe being the HBC for the MSU Bulldogs next season? Heard from a source (2 degrees removed from current players) that he's probably gone.

Anonymous said...

Today's vote is between a moderate Republican (Hood) and an extreme Republican (Reeves). Don't be extreme.

Anonymous said...

I am a R in national politics but I voted D for Gov, and LT Gov. I would be plenty happy to have a Hood/Hughes team in charge of our great state.

Anonymous said...

So fun to watch the read tantrums from the petulant Waller voters as they go for Hood. They are no different than the McDaniel voters they condemned in 2014.

Anonymous said...

52.7 doughboy to 47.3 conway.

Anonymous said...

Upperclass white male here. I voted for Hood and I won't be voting for Trump in 2020. I wish a Libertarian would run.

Anonymous said...

Another white, historically Republican voter who cast a vote for Hood this morning. It's time for a change. We don't need Boss Hog 3.0 or Lock Jaw Phil 2.0.

Anonymous said...

Doughboy and Conway won't add up to 100%. Minor candidates will get a small vote total.

Anonymous said...

Another troll infested JJ thread.

Anonymous said...

Karl Banks all the way!

Anonymous said...

"52.7 doughboy to 47.3 conway."

I generally agree with the numbers, but who gets which is a pick 'em. Hell, for 5-to-1, I'd put at least a hundred on a recount, for 10-to-1, I'd go at least 500, and for 20-to-1, I'd put at least another 100 on "goes to the legislature." I'd also put a 20, even odds, on "most write-in votes in Mississippi guv election" just for fun.

For the non-sporting types, I'm going with: 5 points max separates the winner from the loser, it is very likely to be in the 1-2 point range, and going to the legislature isn't all that far-fetched.

As to who will win, I am much more certain about that: it will be Reeves or Hood as the next governor.

Anonymous said...

Upperclass white male here.

Define upperclass? Otherwise, bullshit.

Anonymous said...

I am a R in national politics but I voted D for Gov, and LT Gov. I would be plenty happy to have a Hood/Hughes team in charge of our great state.

So you voted for Trump? Should be easy to admit.

Anonymous said...

...and an extreme Republican (Reeves) ...

Extreme how? Be specific.

Anonymous said...

Anyone voting D in the national is voting to throw away the 2nd. Hopefully the NYRSPA v. NYC will implement strict scrutiny and that will cease to be a problem.

Anonymous said...

Can anyone confirm if Singletary is on the ballot? He is the 420 candidate!

Anonymous said...

Hood may do well among Metro whites, but I don't see the rurals voting for him. They've bit into Trump hook, line, and sinker.

Anonymous said...

Im moving to Texas where they have great roads and ZERO state income taxes. None. Nada. Living in Mississippi represents a loss of over $1M over about 30 years, exclusive of private school tuition and $2500 car tags. Unless you own an established going concern your kids are interested in, help them get the hell out of here.

Anonymous said...

I think I worked for 3:29 once...

He always let everybody know he was "Upperclass".

Anonymous said...

While many of you are proudly coming here declaring your independence from the MSGOP machine by voting for Hood, unfortunately it does not reflect the view of the majority of hicks and hayseeds in the rest of Mississippi. Trump has them motivated, and they will support Tater out of fear and loathing rather than an inspiring vision.

Anonymous said...

These comments are already funny.

Credit to the liberal trolls.
They finally planned a coordinated attack during their last 48 hours.

(Same as the Luftwaffe at Palermo during 1943).
But that didn't work out for the Luftwaffe.

I'm sorry.
That was a World War II reference . . . which may be too intense for some "progressives".

People coming here claiming to be white Republicans voting democrat are just saying that because they don't have any more blue pills.

Based on all of the posts on here, we know at least one white guy voted for Hood and that he is obsessed with posting about it on here at least ten times.

50th Sucks! said...

Jim Hood with Delbert Hosemann, Mississippi would actually be going forward with getting some real sh*t done.

Phil Bryant and Tate Reeves have been on that Tea Party Koch Brothers bullsh*t for the last 8 years!

The counties with high unemployment, still have high unemployment, they now all of a sudden want to give teachers and state employees pay raises when they had 8 years to do it.

Nope, you had your chance, too bad so sad! Good freaking riddance!

But Mississippi NEVER does the smart thing and will probably vote to elect Ross Barnett 2.0.

If Tate Reeves wins tonight, word from the wise to any Mississippian under 25...........

RUN AWAY FROM THIS GODFORSAKEN PLACE! Go to Houston, Austin, Dallas, Atlanta, Tampa, Orlando, Charlotte! Hell, even Memphis!

Until this state starts electing progressive legislators that want to move this state into the 21st century, there's no hope. Just misery, futility, and apathy!

Anonymous said...

Reluctantly voted for Reeves. Would have liked to see Waller as governor. And was not about to vote for Hood.

Anonymous said...

It could be an interesting night. If Hood wins the popular votes but Reeves wins the districts votes, wouldn't it be fun to watch the Republicans vote against Reeves for the way he has treated them in the past? Tate might be quoting a famous line from "Julius Caesar" (Note to Tate: That is not about pizza.)

Anonymous said...

The same clown keeps posting that he's a republican who voted for Hood. But, reality will sink in tonite at 10:00 and 3:25 will be dead on the mark.

Anonymous said...

SPOONER FOR SHERIFF!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

I voted Hood too

Anonymous said...

Far too often, republicans (ostensibly, conservatives) just loose sight of the goal. Though typically more principled voters than Democrats, they tend to stray from the party for petty reasons (I don't like the way he looked; we need a change from the last guy; a republican is about the same as a democrat; etc.), but they really don't think of the consequences. As an example, many have said, "heck Hood is as conservative as Reeves, and [insert one of the above conditions].....but they forget, when it comes time to appoint a Senator or a MS Supreme Court justice, the outcomes from the two would be PROFOUNDLY different. Only Democrats and trial lawyers would come forth from the Hood mansion......and that's what made the difference for me. Reeves was not my favorite, but the collateral damage Hood could do was too severe for me to take that chance.

Tighten up Republicans! THINK about what you're doing!

Anonymous said...

Are disaffected Republican Hood voters just this year’s concern trolls?

Anonymous said...

White, generally conservative Madison County resident 9who voted Hood today. Tate is just insufferable and a spoiled little brat. But I bet Tate wins, nonetheless.

Anonymous said...

Thank goodness we are almost rid of the weakest governor in Mississippi history! Phil has been the biggest nothing!!!! If anyone hires him, they are an IDIOT!

Anonymous said...

What I don't get is what was Hood doing at the U.N. dogging Mississippi?

Anonymous said...

Shouldn’t this be on the top of the blog?

Anonymous said...

Here is an election night puzzle for y'all:

Someone won bigly when they lost, yet millions lost bigly when the one who lost didn't win.

Anonymous said...

Not too hard to believe that white males voted for Hood. Some of us are tired of the Kemper County type deals deals the Republicans have given us over the years. MS conservatives loath helping you find affordable health care but don't mind given away the farm to big business.

I bet the next time a startup claims to have a moon pie fueled rocket that will transport us to the moon, the great minds in MS politics will fund it with taxpayer money.

Anonymous said...

Early on, Tate is not doing as well as the statewide Rs, which is not good for him. It doesn't mean a lot yet, but...

Anonymous said...

Tate will be governor, the question is what is the margin. The national Shitposter Organizations, excuse me, I mean News Organizations will try to tie the Governor races today as a referendum on Trump, but it will ring hollow following 3 years of constant shitposting "news".

And to the troll saying no one crossed over, I won't lie and say I didn't agonize over it at the voting booth but considering what Mr. Hood did for my wife's relative (as KF posted about previously years ago) it did make it easier. A little sugar to make the medicine go down so to speak.

1:34PM and 4:09PM btw.

Anonymous said...

I doubt 'white republican males' voted in abundance (or by any other measure) for Hood. White republican males tend to have a certain amount of testosterone, as opposed to their liberal counterparts who tend to be a bit swishy.

Anonymous said...

I will never vote for someone with D after their name. Sorry but they are lunatics. Love Mississippi elected all R's. All the D's need to move To Virginia.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
