First Consul Tate Reeves issued the following statements on social media.
(1) Just to clarify, I said I expect lawmakers to redraw congressional lines BETWEEN NOW and 2027 elections!
I also expect them to redraw legislative and Supreme Court lines between now and 2027 elections!
(2) Bennie Thompson calls MS-2 “my congressional district.”
No Sir.
MS-2 is not YOUR congressional district. It is the people of Mississippi’s!!
Congressman Bennie G. Thompson’s reign of terror on MS-2 is over. It is not a matter of “IF…”
Just a matter of “WHEN!”

It's about time for Benny to go. He should not be allowed to cause any more damage to the people of this state.
If Republicans don’t redistrict Bennie out there will be plenty of Republicans voted out.

I had a feeling the special session was really about the congressional districts and the upcoming midterms, and had nothing to do with Judge Aycock decision that is currently on appeal at the 5th Circuit.
But I guess Tate Reeves got too much pushback to throw out the primaries that already took place.
He can't. There is a 2004 Supreme Court decision holding once elections are underway, then the rules or district lines can't be changed.
Once again, Tate - nearing the end of his tenure - surprises me with his (mostly) sensible and measured response.
And, ole Big Ears yelling and screaming, with the caveat that the challenger to the throne is not bound by the truth, the law or political realities.
Tate is clearing the path for Chokwe to run for Benny's seat after the acquittal.
