The Mississippi Supreme Court ordered oral arguments be held on May 27 in the Carly Gregg case.
Gregg is serving a prison sentence of life without parole. A Rankin County jury convicted Gregg of first-degree murder after she killed her mother when she was 14 years old.
Attorney James Murphy took on the case and filed an appeal on Gregg's behalf last year. Earlier post on appeal.
Kingfish note: Notice anyone missing from the list of attorneys? So much for staying with someone all the way.

I would bet just about anyone who followed the proceedings would say Gregg did not have adequate representation.
That being said, the best advice would probably be to plead guilty and hope for a shorter sentence.
She certainly appeared emotionally disturbed. For all our sophistication, we do not know how to adequately address mental illness.
I hear she moved to Alaska. Has anyone else heard that?
She was/is not "emotionally disturbed"....that's lawyer tricks. She is unfortunately, a young psychopath. Big difference.
No winners here-
Send her to Iran as an assassin.
She’s in prison
Whether she had adequate representation is almost beside the point. The fact that she planned a murder and carried it is not debatable. And she celebrated having done it.
All a different lawyer could possibly have done is get her a lighter sentence.
We don't know what causes psychopathic behavior. But, does it matter?
at 2:54 - Burst out line.
Redneck ghouls. Wow.
What do you propose? Let her go with zero consequences of killing?
She killed the lady on video. What is the appeal? I’m just dumbfounded by this court system. Throw her ass in jail for life. It’s clear she is crazy.
Wrong 4:48. Constitutional rights are never beside the point.
Emotionally disturbed, psychopath.... neither meet the legal definition of "not guilty by reason of insanity". the video of her in the kitchen post-event clearly demonstrates that. Agee with other comment. Best outcome here is plea with shorter sentence. But doubt the DA will go for that given the evidence unless some evidence is tossed during this appeal. IF this is overturned due other technicalities which don't actually hurt the case, doubt a plea will be offered.
She should be released into the custody of a bleeding heart leftie judge living in a gated community.
Only if she promises not to touch any of the judge's firearms.
can anybody cite a reason that this family had the inside of their house under video surveillance? isn't that usually placed outside?
Never seen a more incompetent defense team.
Ya get the justice you can afford dontcha know.
The gourd-heads who want her set free are the same ones who chant, "Defund The Police !"
