Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones issued the following statement.

Escapee Alert 🚨: Robert Smith-16, Tayshon Holmes-17 and Jashon Jones-15 escaped from the Henley-Young-Patton Youth Detention Facility following a large disturbance. They stole a blue 2007 Jeep Liberty CFB 0901 from the parking lot.

<>/p> Three youth detainees were transported to the hospital for injuries sustained during the disturbance and prior to the escapes. Their injuries are non-life threatening. A gun is believed to be in the vehicle the escapees stole. Anyone with information contact police. Hinds County Administrator’s office is the contact, HCSO is conducting the investigation.

Robert Smith

Tayshon Homes

Jashon Jones

Kingfish note: OK, these are some really bad cookies. Jones was indicted and arrested for carjacking, armed robbery, aggravated assault, and escape. Holmes was arrested and indicted for carjacking, aggravated assault, and aggravated domestic violence. Robert Smith is charged with no less that capital murder. Killed a man while he stole his car.

Would it be unconstitutional to microchip these ferals so we can find them?

This is why we can't have nice things-

An unsecured gun in the car means that the vehicle belongs to a staff member who is too stupid and irresponsible for not securing the gun in a $13 gun safe available at Academy Sports.

Were the keys left in the ignition also?

They will 'jack another vehicle and another and another until they are caught.

Just a few more months and they would have been rehabilitated and contributing to the betterment of society. Dang.

Why is a murderer in a youth detention center?

Blame the feds.

9:22 - you or someone else has mentioned this "$13 gun safe" at Academy Sports before. A couple of points here. After searching Academy Sport's website, I could not find a $13 gun safe. And secondly, I carry a revolver in my vehicle, and it is where I have ready access to it, not in a gun safe. I don't carry around a gun to make it tough for thugs to steal; I carry it for my immediate, personal protection.

These idiots in Hinds County couldn't run a slop kitchen. Incompetent AF.

This is their 2nd escape from that place. Broke out 11:30 Sunday night. "According to Jones, 14 juveniles attempted to overpower a guard and got out of their cells. During this incident, three teens escaped and another three were injured." They have already found the vehicle they stole.

These are the same ones from the last incident of this at Henley Young. Wtf?

How would you like to be named after this wretched facility?

@9:41 AM - you are correct, there is no $13 safe, it is called a Lock Box. The price is now $9.99. But let me educate you a little further. Not all venues/destinations allow firearms inside, and that would include the kiddy jail, so a secure mechanism is required. A glove box does not cut it, nor does shoving it under your seat.

Here it is: https://www.academy.com/p/snapsafe-lg-lock-box#repChildCatSku=117057473

Love those pictures! Now we know how they'll look, standing at windows, peering in through the screens.

Why would anyone carry around a gun in a locked safe in their trunk when in Jackson. Does anyone thing any of the thugs in Jackson will wait for you to go to your trunk and unlock a safe and get your gun? When in Jackson a loaded gun should be within reach at all times.

Supervisor Robert Graham is responsible.

@9:41 AM, and in doing so you make your gun easier for thugs to steal. Well done!!

Anonymous said...

And they'll leave the light on for them

@11:36 AM - Let me help you with reading comprehension. YOU CAN'T ALWAYS TAKE YOUR GUN WITH YOU INTO A BUSINESS, so it must be left in your vehicle.

NO, you don't leave it secured in the lock box while driving around Jackistan.

In reply to 10:06 a.m. I said...

Yes. Apparently the same kids. Perhaps the continuing education on how to bust out for the others is either on hold due to budget constraints or they aren't the sharpest criminals, yet.

Someone please inform and educate the WSJ folks that this is what we deal with on a daily basis in the Sip and why we will continually fall behind the rest of civilized society.

1:16 PM, I will take the chance of carrying my gun into any business I want to go into in Jackson rather than take the chance of being killed in the parking lot or the business. You do not yell out you are carrying a gun. Let it come as a surprise to the thugs.

11:54 Why is Graham responsible? Did he approve the building of the facility & not make or hold the spec sheet/punch sheet for final inspection follow requirements? Another waste of taxpayers $$

Okay guys, you made your point about a lock box in your vehicle, but I will restate my position. I keep my weapon where I can get to it quickly. When I exit the vehicle I lock the doors. I am not, repeat not, going to lock it up in a safe every time I get out of my vehicle, and then unlock it when I get back in. If that means thugz can break out a window and steal the weapon, so be it.

This "disturbance" sounds pretty similar to what we called a "riot" last time I checked. Maybe "riot" is on the PC police not to be spoken word list now.

The whole gun in lock box conversation is an interesting one as I have often thought about this.

I think it depends on WHY you have a gun in your car.

If you are like me and need to park It for a while at work prior to shoving off to deer camp, then yes!! lock it up!! ESPECIALLY these 2-3k rifles.

BUT if you are using a handgun in your car as a self defense tool then absolutely not Those need to be within reach loaded and ready whenever you are behind the wheel, just make sure its not visible as a lot of these places do not allow firearms on the premises AT ALL even in your vehicle

suspected of shooting woman in neck, stealing vehicle, according to Adams County Sheriff. In a 2015 Gold Ford Fusion with tag number ADC8276.

The $13 lock box guy is relentless.

I wish he would spend as much time or teaching parents to not raise ferals that steal guns.

The best vehicle gun safe I've seen is 'headrest safe'. Pricey but easy access and secure. Read the specs before trashing the suggestion.

If you are leaving an unsecured weapon in your vehicle -- especially if you're too lazy to lock it up when you leave it -- you are irresponsible and complicit.

Anonymous said...

Add me to the happily irresponsible crowd that does not lock my gun in a safe.

It is however in my locked car.

I refuse to baby proof the world while making my gun less accessible to me...the law abiding citizen who legally purchased it.
I suggest you vote for leaders that are tougher on crime and punishment and/or volunteer to raise these feral youth with some morals if you think a gun safe in a car is the answer.

If you are breaking into cars and stealing things you belong in a cage. If you are too lazy to get a job and make a living for yourself, you are irresponsible and complicit.

Anonymous said...

The "ferals" are not buying their guns at pawn shops and gun shows. They are stealing them out of cars. I'll bet if you had to register your guns and were tied to the serial numbers, you'd care more about where they ended up.

Does anyone really think locking a gun in a safe is going to make any difference when they steal the whole car? If they can steal a car they should be able to open a gun safe.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
