Prime Hypocrisy?

Apparently some people think Coach Prime buffaloed the Jackson State University.  Check out the video making the social media rounds.

As of Monday evening, Colorado has lost more commitments than it has gained since Deion Sanders was named head coach Saturday evening.

Anonymous said...

Hypocrisy? No. He is just moving forward. If he had known about Jacktown's crime and infrastructure problems he may not have taken the JSU position to start with. Those problems have increased exponentially since his arrival in Jacktown.

Jacktown let him down, not the other way around.

He's going to talk-up whatever program he's developing. That's what a coach does. He did a lot for JSU including a 3-year W/L record of 27-5. He paid his dues -- let him enjoy his new job.

Anonymous said...

This is a real simple question:

What was he getting paid at JSU?

What is he getting paid at Colorado?

Anonymous said...

I think the thing that people are forgetting is that he has 2 sons who play D1 football. Shedeur garnered some talk, albeit very quiet talk, of a darkhorse Heisman candidacy this past year. By moving to a Power 5 conference, he is giving both his sons a larger platform to showcase their potential and up their draft stock, and ultimately set them up the best he can. If Shedeur is the real deal, playing QB at a Power 5 program will get him much more consideration for the Heisman than at JSU.

What Prime did for JSU though should not be sold short. Hopefully JSU can use it is a building block and continue to grow and progress as a program and not regress because they put all their eggs in Prime's basket. That would be nobody's fault but their own.

Good luck Prime.

I'm not seeing the hypocrisy. He's seems to be telling the truth in both clips. He's like a lot of us that knew we had to leave Jackson because it was the right thing to do for our families or our careers, but were still sad about it.

AMEN 10:30.....in the distant past, Jackson had a lot to offer an influential person such as Jackson State head football coach. He could have been a respected leader in such an environment. No more, Jackson has turned into something none of us native Jacksonians could have ever anticipated. I pray that someone will come along with the potential that Sanders had here and get Jackson and its people, black and white, working on things that actually matter to all its citizens.

Deion must realize that there are people who will never be satisfied. If Colorado and the rest were not pursuing him they would holler racism, he's as good or better than the many white dummies being paid millions to coach power five. Why should he not get the opportunity? On the other hand if he doesn't sacrifice his own fortune and his children's safety he is a sellout. He has
chosen the profession of being a football coach not a messiah. Just a football coach. They make speeches, they excite the fan base. If you take their speeches too seriously you will look like a fool when they leave. He made a deal with Jackson State that had no time limit, and he produced like he said. Jackson State gave him an opportunity to get his foot in the college coaching door. He got what he was after. It was simply a good deal. That's all.

Anonymous said...

I can truly say, there is no greater feeling than when one leaves Jackson, regardless of your final destination.

Can you imagine leaving Jackson and going to Colorado? I'm surprised his head didn't explode!

Boulder is probably a better place to live than 99% of American cities.

Jackson is the opposite, unfortunately.

Our task is to do what we can with what we have to narrow that gap.

Coaches are hired guns. They buy in/hype up every school they go to, as they should. Paterno, Saban, Dabo... they are not the norm (in terms of longevity at a program). And as you can see from the ones mentioned, they only "stay" at big programs or schools that have low expectations (Stoops @ Kentucky). Its a move up or move out career.

Anonymous said...

he did say that Boulder is relatively crime free. don't think that didnt play a role in his leaving...

Anonymous said...

Jed Clampett had no idea he would strike oil but when he did he loaded up the truck and he moved to Beverleeeee. When Deion took the JSU job there were many who thought it would be a big publicity stunt but he became wildly successful. Such success is usually financially rewarding and the fortunate man makes his move BEFORE the success runs out. Any financial advisor or agent worth their fee would advise him to load up the truck NOW. Maybe not swimmin' pools and movie stars but he's reaping the rewards, big-time as most people would. Jackson could not reward him with anything but adulation, he already had that.

Much of the criticism within the black community is that Coach Prime wasn't true to his "culture" by taking the head football coaching job at an overwhelmingly white university. My view - what better way to honor his culture than by succeeding in his profession & leaving JSU & Jackson a better place than he found them? (Such as Jackson is, anyway).

Anonymous said...

Get off that man's dick. He made jackson state money and jackson state made him some money in Colorado

JSU will go on. I put that on WC Gorden

Anonymous said...

I would suggest some of you look at the entire JSU team. It isn't a solid skin tone.
Secondly, he pledge loyally and a determination to rebuild and loyalty to Black universities ' football.
He was aware of the crime stats when he came.
He may not be aware that Boulder's crime rate is 72% higher than the rest of the Nation and the highest in Colorado.
It will be interesting to see which neighborhoods have homes "available" for him.

Anonymous said...

Someone comes and pulls you out of the sewer and you trash him for increasing his salary 18 fold. Yet they love Lumumba who destroys all in Jackson that is good.

I have no sympathy for Jackson.

Anonymous said...

No one is denying that he is taking the money just like all other coaches. The difference was his push to elite players to attend HBCU schools. But, now they should attend Colorado. He used the entire HBCU thing to benefit himself. And it did. He will make a great US Senator some day.

Blacks fought to integrate the big law firms. I remember listening to Charles Tisdale and his knuckleheads on Friday nights bashing Rueben Anderson for working at Phelps Dunbar. The word sell out was used. Crabs in a friggin bucket. They just couldn't stand to see him doing well.

Anonymous said...

The hypocrisy is that he convinced a lot of young AA men to forego opportunities at other larger schools to come and play for a black school. Then when the opportunity came he went to coach at a predominately white school. Don’t see an issue with him
Leaving but he shouldn’t have used race to convince those kids to pass up other opportunities when at the end money talks.

Anonymous said...

Coaches are expected to be ambassadors for their schools and communities. It doesn’t bind them to staying and it doesn’t make them liars when they leave.

Everyone needs to google the University of Colorado video that was just released. $156M state of the art like no other with a Hot and Cold Pools for athletes to use after showering & coming off of the field. This is a No Brainer! Coach Prime indeed knows how to take care of players & probably wishes he had this facility while in Florida. End of story as now attendance will definitely increase after watching this. Good Luck to all football players!

Anonymous said...

Ditto 12:06 & 12:13 He pimped out JSU to his benefit. He promised to build a home for black players to send them directly to the NFL. He poured the concrete, erected the 4x4s, pitched the roof then left it and took the tools with him to build another house somewhere else. I guess integrity is a thing of the past.

Anonymous said...

2:23 Pm You need to get off that dope Boy. You are making no sense at all. Coach nade all the right moves while you are sucking a big one in Jacktown. Left behind brother left behind!

Anonymous said...

@2:23pm
Mr. Sanders is climbing the ladder that his integrity and success puts in front of him. If he can turn CU around, he'll get an NFL invite.

Hopefully, he motivates athletes, not the color of athletes.

Anonymous said...

2:23 If you were offered a promotion to a job making $5 million a year working for a Fortune 500 company requiring you to leave a job making $250,000 a year working for a much smaller company, what would you do?

Anonymous said...

All this bullshit about coach-bling simply drives another stake in the heart of college sports. They're not required to attend class, they're now paid professionals, there's no discipline with the inmates running the prison and they date fat girls (according to Leach). It's not a millimeter off what Wrestling became in the fifties. Football, as entertainment for fans, is dead. You suckers who still piss away your hard-earned money attending these events are getting your just reward. Oh...And be sure to send at least five bucks a month to the NIL fund. Every dime will be siphoned off as administrative fees.

Anonymous said...

I have a question I can't seem to get an answer to. Didn't Shedeur already transfer once? so doesn't that mean he loses a year of eligibility if he transfers again?

Anyone? Anyone?

Anonymous said...

HYPOCRITS are those who hold others to a standard higher than you hold yourself. 99% of those with the nerve to trash a man who takes a job paying him 10X would have taken such a job for a lot less. I don't remember one time that he said he would not leave if he did a great job. Well he did a great job and more.

Anonymous said...

5:09, if you came to a Historically Black College as a black man, humble bragging and crying crocodile tears and calling them "My People," as the crowd sniffs quietly, would YOU later bail out for 5 Mil and a 90% rich white city after telling all the black athletes to "Believe" and come to HBCUs.

Sure you would. And you'd be sure to take your son and the 5 star recruit with you, for your continued benefit.

We understand.

There is no I in team.

But one in Deion and two in PrimeTime. We understand and see through the bull.

Sanders led JSU to an undefeated season after three years and people say he used the school. That’s some seriously screwed-up thinking.

12:13 might have a point, but I don’t have enough information to evaluate it’s merit.

I’d love to know the conversations Sanders had with Mayor Lumumba about getting his sh*t together and turning the city around before making the jump to Colorado.

Anonymous said...

no one is blaming him for taking the job idiots. It's the lies he sold to get the job and the disrespect on the way out.
Most head coaches have to spend years as assistant coaches first. JSU gave him a job having never coached at college level. He used that experience on paper to get the job that he really wanted and talked sh*t about is former school (that he was supposed to be uplifting) on the way out. Colorado is gonna find out what happens when you give a child too much too soon.

Anonymous said...

Shedeur came to J-State out of high school. He can transfer.

Shilo transferred from South Carolina. He is stuck in Jacktown, unless he wants to sit out a year.

Anonymous said...

@ 11:55...Can you make it any clearer? * drops the mic.

Anonymous said...

8:46 - Excuse me? What 'shit' did he talk about JSU 'on the way out'?

On the other hand, Sanders has always been an 'end zone flash dancer'. Still is. All this talk about him maturing is bull shit. Bling and grins.

Anonymous said...

Most head coaches have to spend years as assistant coaches first.

Most is not all and extremely few coaches, heads or assistants, have any near the football pedigree Prime brought to the JSU and now Colorado tables.

James Bell passed your litmus test for "years" of prior experience as an assistant. How'd that work out?

Anonymous said...

Everyone knew he'd leave at some point. I don't think he was being hypocritical. I'm sure Freeze said the same thing at Auburn and Leach/Kiffin when they came to MS. Just coach speak.

That said, I don't personally think Shedeur is that great (as a former D1 player and coach). I lol'd at the Heisman comment. It is a lot tougher in D1 than the SWAC... mainly how much faster the defenses are. We'll find out though.

"He sold a dream and then walked out on the dream. People have the right to be critical of that," Jones said in a swipe at Sanders on "CNN This Morning."

"The Right Time with Bomani Jones" host also mocked Sanders for his belief in God. "He explicitly said that God sent him" to coach at an HBCU, "so then when you leave, yeah, people are going to ask questions."

And when the press, the media that he skirted in Mississippi as he slithered out from SWAC post game interview, asks about it in Denver, he chokes. Chokes up and stutters, and tap dances without answering.

Lots and lots of folks he ordered to "Believe" now believe he is full of crap. And they are correct.

He's ALWAYS been a self serving showboater, and some of you lapped it all up, nodding your heads and responding to his Pharisee Preacher calls to the crowd.

Amen! Yessuh! God done sent him! He's Our Coach! He came for "My People!"

Crying, coming to Jesus, blowing snot bubbles with the brothers. Come to JSU! Come to HBCUs!! They are not only "good enough" they are excellent! Come!!! (So I can get "elevated" along with my son!) Fall for it! The act is so good! Deion was sent by God, don't you know! He proclaimed himself the Messiah!

And then his Lord and God, Mammon, spoke to him again, and he was on a fast private jet outta Jackson like green grass through a goose. Ka Ching! I got mine, hahahahah. You suckers!!!

He used race against his own people, for personal profit.

Anonymous said...

ESPN host criticizes Deion Sanders for leaving HBCU for big promotion: ‘He sold a dream and then walked out’.

Anonymous said...

So if Prime had said, "I'll coach JSU for 3-4 years but you should know that I am using this as a stepping stone and I do plan to leave when I get a large salary offer..."

Y'all would have said, "No thanks, we aren't going to hire you since you wont be here forever"?

Don't be daft. Say "thank you" and look for his replacement like big boys and girls.

Anonymous said...

Hope these young men learned something positive out of Coach Prime stint at JSU. Tommy Tuberville was the most hated man in Mississippi College football years ago. I’m sure he made promises as all Coaches do! Now he is a US Senator from Alabama. What I’m saying is just cause someone makes promises and leaves doesn’t mean they don’t care about you anymore. Life goes on, the man deserves to be Great anywhere he goes.

What would you tell your child if he had that opportunity, “ go for it” and don’t forget about me and mama!

Let’s move on to something else, Coach is gone and ain’t coming back.

Ain’t God good

Anonymous said...

By this time any thinking adult past the age of 30 should have learned to be skeptical of any person other than Jesus Christ who says "God told me something" or "God sent me". It does not mean the person won't do a good job but be ready for a quick change of heart when money is involved. I can understand some young kids being surprised and pissed but not the adults who should have learned this lesson long ago. Deion is a salesman. That's all.

I agree with Jason Whitlock:

I guess some folks say God helps those who help themselves, but I can't find that in my Bible.

I was in no way shocked when Deion left; in fact it fit right as I expected but didn't really give a shit. I would have left as well for that increase in salary.

BUT, now the folks at CU are beginning to have buyers remorse - with him coming in and telling their current players they need to find somewhere else to go because he is going to bring his own team to the campus. And the University itself is having to do double back flips as that is requiring them to rewrite their entrance requirements, the courses they will accept as a transfer (for example, CU doesn't, or at least didn't prior to this week, have any underwater basket-weaving courses; or PE/Administration noattendancerequired courses available in their cirriculum). And many of the folks that he will be trying to get to come to CU are going to be on to his recruiting scam of promising them they will be playing - check the number of players that left JSU during the season because he didn't put them on the field after all the promises.

Getting the teams support, after he's told them that he's bringing his own QB, regardless of what's available because it is his son (the one that he really believed should have been a Heisman winner, something nobody with any knowledge of sports could fathem as reality) is going to be difficult, and its going to be difficult to get those big dollar supporters that are paying for the $150 million facility to buy into that as well when their kids or friends kids are the ones riding the pine just so Prime can give his son the limelight.

Yes, he was good for JSU football. All this crap about putting JSU on the map is pure b/s; JSU didn't advance at all, just its football program. Jerry Rice didn't make MVSU anything as a university just as AirMcNair didn't turn Alcorn into anything worth a dimes tuition. JSU's day in the sun will now turn back into night; might as well tuck it in - after of course saying the prayers that Prime left them.

For him to have kept his players from celebrating their championship victory told a lot about what its all about to Prime; his plane was waiting to all he could say while they were trying to present the trophy was 'hurry up, hurry up'. Players and families couldn't even get pictures - he had to get them back to campus so he could kiss their asses goodbye. Taking of course, one of his sons with him.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
