Killer Executed

The Mississippi Department of Corrections issued the following statement.

Convicted killer Thomas Edwin Loden Jr. was executed by lethal injection today at the Mississippi State Penitentiary.

The execution procedures began at 6 p.m. and Loden was pronounced dead at 6:12 p.m. CST. The Mississippi Department of Corrections carried out the order of the Mississippi Supreme Court issued on November 17 after all appeals had been exhausted.

Loden was sentenced to death in Itawamba County Circuit Court on Sept, 21, 2001, for capital murder of a 16-year old girl. He was also sentenced to 30 years for rape and to 30 years for sexual battery.

Killed a 16 year old girl in 2001 and 22 years later he is executed??? Something very wrong with our judicial system!!

Hope he likes it there.

20 years too late

20 years past due. He got off easy.

Good riddance to another thug.

Cost the taxpayers a bundle to house him for 20 years

Death Juice Should have been slowly injected over a four hour period, do he could have suffered the approximate length he was torturing that pour girl, hope he’s roasting over the fires of hell for eternity.

He got a chance to meet God today. The question I can't answer is how that encounter went for him. My humanity wants to rank sins and my faith says we are all flawed. I do know God will work it out His way, regardless of what I may think.

Good riddance, next! Light em up, save my tax dollars!

He enjoyed pork chops, sweet potato, okra and biscuits before he was put down. Why not offer death row prisoners weekly opportunities to voluntarily off themselves instead of waiting 21 years?

Well, now that he has gotten the death sentence served he can now begin serving the other sentences he got for rape and sexual battery. They probably need to put him into Unit 29.

If I were the girl’s father, he would’ve been dead and burning in hell long ago.

I believe the previous 10 commenters summed up how I feel about a person like this. As a father of 3 girls it would have been difficult to not take Justice into my own hands.

9:17 I didn't waste time wondering.

How? He was probably denied bond so he has always been behind bars since his arrest.

KF@7:25am: HOW?
Get hired as a guard in the killer's lockup.

According to Christians he will go to heaven. He asked for forgiveness so all is well. What a load of horse crap

Now he is in heaven, since he likely asked for forgiveness before he passed away. He's there with all your loved ones.

Ain't Christianity grand?

The death penalty pronounced and carried out by our State is cruel and even more so to wait 20+ years. All people, even those that have taken lives are redeemable. What kind of state are we becoming!

Just in from Mississippi Today. We need to feel sorry for the killer.

I’m always amazed at how many people want to torture prisoners. Have you heard of the constitution? He’s dead and had 20 years in prison before that. Seems like he got a pretty severe punishment. I’m not totally against the death penalty as long as the guilt is unquestionable, but there have been too many cases of wrongly convicted people being murdered by the state. I can’t think of a worse ending than getting punished like that for something you know is a lie. The hopelessness those victims must have felt outweighs the gratification of killing the guilty for me personally.

I have seen a lot of talk nationally the last few years about how hard it is to get the Drugs for the lethal injection cocktail. However, I also see a news article everyday about Fentanyl overdoses killing people, seems to basically just make them pass out and then suppress their breathing. Seems like the logical way to go, Dems want to let homeless people do it in broad daylight in our cities with no repercussions why not use it in our prison system as well.

Capital punishment is not a deterrent to capital crimes. There is little nexus between the crime and the punishment (20+ years later).

Capital punishment is a political tool for the "law and order" types.

However, there needs to be a sure "life without parole" sentence for those who would otherwise get the needle.

This 'last meal' madness needs to stop. Burle or Burl needs to shit-can that bull shit immediately. What was the last meal going to be for the 16-year-old girl who just got off work?

Feral animals like this Loden need to be extinguished for the safety and good of us all.

Statistically speaking, the firing squad, I'm informed, is the most reliable means of execution. It would appear to be the least expensive as well.

@8:15, it's cruel, you say, for the condemned to remain incarcerated for 20 years (for appeals to his sentence that he, the condemned, wants to pursue). And yet if sentence were carried out, say, 20 days later or even 20 months later, removing that cruel 20 years of incarceration, your type would still say that is also cruel.

There is no pleasing you-all.

'Capital punishment is not a deterrent to capital crimes. There is little nexus between the crime and the punishment (20+ years later).'

I won't ask you to support that claim by providing a link, since there is no way in hell to prove the truth of it, with or without an article written by a graduate sociology major.

PS: Nexus means presence, not comparison, link or connection.

Thanks for imparting your wisdom, O wise one!

If it's not too much of an imposition, could you please provide the name of even one murderer who committed another capital crime after he was executed?

I'll wait.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
