Police busted a drug dealing and machine gun operation recently, just a few feet away from where children play golf at the Country Club of Jackson.
JPD arrested Kent Newhouse on July 20 for allegedly being.a convicted felon in possession of a firearm as well possession of 80 grams of meth, 14 pills of oxycodone, and 57 pills of ecstasy at his residence on 13 Glenn Eagles Drive in Jackson. The home is owned by his mother, Brenda Newhouse. Kent is the son of former Clarion-Ledger Publisher John Newhouse. It is across the street from the CCJ's nine-hole golf course used primarily by children of members.
Newhouse is a convicted felon. He pleaded guilty to two felony counts of selling controlled substances in Madison County in 2009.
Jackson Municipal Court Judge Henry Clay set his bond at $100,000 ($25,000 per charge). However, the 35 year-old Newhouse won't be going anywhere for awhile because the ATF got its mitts on Newhouse and stuck him in the Madison County jail on several other charges.
JJ reported on July 27:
ATF Special Agent Micah Snyder submitted an affidavit as part of an application for a complaint and arrest warrant against Kent Newhouse. The ATF suspected Newhouse of possessing firearms, auto-sears, and a 3D-printer capable of manufacturing auto-sears even though he was a convicted felon. An auto sear converts a semi-automatic firearm such as an AR-15 to a full-automatic weapon.
A confidential informant told the agent in April that Newhouse was trying to produce auto-sears for Glock pistols. The police got on the trail but had no luck until the CI reported on July 7 that Newhouse was trying to sell several auto-sears designed for "AR-style pistols and rifles." Newhouse allegedly produced four different videos that showed him shooting two different fully automatic machine guns and sent them to the CI.
The CI said Newhouse showed him a full automatic AR pistol, four drop-in auto sears for AR-style firearms, and two pistols. The two parties moved from talking to actually buying and selling. The affidavit states:
9. On Monday, July 11, 2022, the same confidential source advised your affiant that NEWHOUSE was willing to meet with the confidential source at his residence, 13 Glen Eagles Drive, Jackson, Mississippi 39211, on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, and sell the source the four auto-sears for $400.00. The confidential source stated NEWHOUSE was also willing to sell an AR-style machine gun in his possession for $2,000.00....
10. On Wednesday, July 13, 2022, your affiant conducted a monitored and controlled purchase of firearms from NEWHOUSE at his residence. During this purchase, NEWHOUSE sold the confidential source an AR-style pistol with an auto-seat· attached and two additional auto-sears for a total cost of$1,800.00. NEWHOUSE knowingly possessed these items prior to selling them to the confidential info1mant. These items were then recovered by the ATF. The AR-style pistol is identified as an Anderson Manufacturing pistol, model AM-15, serial number 21395261. The AR-style pistol was subsequently function-tested by the ATF and was preliminarily determined to be a machine gun.
CCJ residents said they have complained to the police about Newhouse for several years. Sketchy individuals visited the home at all hours of the night. To say neighbors lived in fear of Newhouse is an understatement. Earlier post.

What is a “drop in auto seer” and why is an AR15 still legal when it is so easily to convert into a machine gun? This basically makes a liar out of the gun nutter arguments that an AR-15 is not a “weapon of war” because it isn’t full-auto.
Well, if this CCJ moron, then anyone in Virden Addition can make them full auto. Also, a violent right wing MAGA extremist can too.
So what they were near children and golfers? Machine Guns registered before May 19, 1986 are completely legal to own for civilians. I live in a neighborhood where people have kids and I own 7 registered machine guns.
@11:43 From a mechanical perspective it's harder to make a gun not full auto than to make it full auto. Looking at something like a semiauto AR15 it is much more complex than a WW2 era submachine gun because the AR has to have extra parts to make it not full auto such as a sear disconnect. People have even made bolt actions full auto (see the Charlton automatic rifle as an example). As with most dangerous things criminal possessors are the problem and not the relatively speaking simple objects.
@11:43
Since it is already illegal for the guy to make a machine gun, but he did it anyway; and it is already illegal for him to possess a firearm as a felon, but he did it anyway; and it is already illegal for him, as a felon, to possess the machinegun that he illegally made, but he did it anyway; and it is illegal for him to sell the illegally possessed and illegally manufactured machineguns, but he did it anyway...
Let's make more laws and then it will be super-duper illegal and no one will be able to commit crimes!
Maybe he can learn a new skill other than gun converting while serving in parchman.
You start reporting fairly and I’ll give $
You are a good reporter but your bent makes you biased and hard to read and impossible to give a dime
11:47, why? What are your plans?
And please name your neighborhood so everyone will know to avoid conflict with you.
@12:55
Probably just another wannabe Rambo who gets winded climbing the stairs.
11:43 AM...i'd be more worried about those left wing extremists around here. they already have them autos.
11:43 AM, since civilians had machine guns before the military had machine guns should they be called "weapons of civilians"?
@11:43, which of these two weapons would you ban?

Ugly snark misses the mark. KF is conservative and a proponent of ethics in government, justice and law enforcement. I enjoy the JJ site so I give a small pittance occasionally, but feel mega respect for all the reading and research it takes to keep JJ running and responsive.
If you disagree with opinions in KF's synopses, summations and statements, bring arguments, not insults to KF nor cheap reasons for being too cheap to contribute.
@12:55 Because I legally can own them? They make great investment pieces, great historical pieces, and they are fun to shoot at the shooting range.
35 years old, on drugs, and living in his momma's house. 'nuff said right there
@ 11:47
7 machine guns... cause you just weren't happy with 6
I think 11:47 eyes are brown, but whatever, that's what this is about--continued bs/chest pounding. The important part of this story I think, is that you folks haven't posted all the proud pictures of his Rez Rat dad, regaled in Harley Trump gear, who finally flew the coop and moved to Belize. Now we all know that JN was on a forced march here to work for Gannett for 2 years by contract, but damn, why aren't ya'll Bubbas propping him up like the tank top, do rag wearing Rez Rat dweller that he was and lamenting his son's sorry state of affairs? Because he got divorced? Funny, since the shit about his son came out, he has deleted all his Trumptard bs from his facebook page.
I have a select fire Sig Sauer MCX air rifle. It is really fun to shoot. That’s about as much as I can afford. Hopefully the progressive leftists don’t ban CO2 cartridges!
Weapon of war? Mine was a pump action 12 gauge in VN.
My weapon of war is a 03A3, M1 Carbine, and Garand. They slide under scary ass liberals radar and do more damage than a puny AR (minus the carbine). But democrats with AR’s scare me more than a right wing fascist with one.
this punk is about to get a dose of the federal system
he going to learn that being under indictment is the legal equivalent of the ebola and aids virus combined
it the worst thing that can happen
too bad the feds cant seem make more
cases on clowns like this.
god knows we got enough of them
there was a a heroin addict/ dealer at the condo complex i used to live at .
most of the residents were elderly retired people
that stinking addict terrorized the community
the residents wrote to every one except santa claus trying to have something done about him
law enforcement was simply to lazy and incompetent to make a case
and this was in rankin county
@4:58pm
There is a Rankin Sheriff's deputy named Tony Shack, a hero of the department, who will look in on such a problem. He is courteous and efficient.
12:47, you are an unbelievable cheap nimrod. You read something, comment, and then bash the owner that facilitates your micro relevance to society by publishing your dribble. Not go away mad, just go away.
3:21 is a typical liberal - if you don’t agree with them they call you names and use disparaging terms when referring to you. Seems like a fun person.
to 6:23.... well........its about freaking time
to 6:23.... well........its about freaking time
To say the least, there are some nervous purchasers right now. When they get finished going through his phone and locate the buyers there will be more to this story. And those that purchased from him should serve time. I would lay a bet that more arrests are coming in the very near future.
