Century Club Charities returned donations from Lamar Adams and Wayne Kelly to the Securities and Exchange Commission. SEC Receiver Alysson Mills asked U.S. District Judge Carlton Reeves to approve a settlement in a motion filed on June 28.
The charity previously returned donations of $28,000 from Kelly. It agreed to return another $56,944 from Kelly and Adams. The motion is posted below.
Kingfish note: Funny story I heard about Lamar Adams the other day. He would supposedly rent vehicles that used the same tires as his truck when the tread would wear down. Yup. He would switch the tires.

I don't imagine that your "funny tire story" is true, KF.
I don't believe that anyone spending what Adams did on hunting camps, propertiees or anything else (ie, large donations), would worry about the hassle of renting vehicles for the purpose of switching tires to save a few hundred bucks.
You sound like a "gossipy" little girl" with your comment.
But such is life, in the world of "just throw it out there and it must be true" environment that we live in today.
But KF is our "gossipy little girl," so GO GIRL!
Lamar and Wayne were charitable individuals--
Ask anyone that grew up with Lamar in Indianola if they believe the tire switching story was indicative of his behavior when he was just starting out in the "business" world, and I guarantee you they would agree and could tell you similar stories from his bike riding days. Lying Lamar was his boyhood nickname. The tire switching obviously occurred before he hit the big time by stealing from others.
I left the story about the tire switching months ago on this blog. Lamar bragged about it to me the only time I ever met him. This happened in 1990 during a round of golf at Deerfield. I never forgot it and wasn't surprised when the Timber scheme came to light.

What source are you quoting?
What's the update on William B. McHenry? Has he slipped through the cracks?
tire story was told to me....years ago, by lamar.
Century club... just a big group of big money brats from northeast Jackson society. Sandersons yates family. Son in law and daughter live in northeast Jackson as does the rest of metro Jackson elites. I guess they like to give back to feel not so privileged. Also C-spire family NE Jackson as are the family that had 23 million dollar beach house in Martha's vineyard. Jackson Mississippi truly is the haves and the have nots. Meanwhile middle class Americans are enjoying life in the burbs at free schools and renting a beach house for a week.
There is no doubt the switching tires story is true. What this guy did was not a one-off event. This type of swindling is cultivated over a period of time and he was obviously emboldened by the culture here that if you run in certain circles you have a little more leeway on behavior, integrity and clearly taste in homes.
who gives a shit about this?
Judging from the “farmers” and “businessmen I’ve met from Indianola, I’m not surprised at all .
Crooks seem to sprout from the ground there. Must be something in the water.
who gives a shit about this?
Everybody who isn't enrolled in on-line PhD programs, like you and Tom Head.
I’d bet a substantial sum of money the first commenter is a big Trump guy.
Hey "Have Not" at 12:38pm - what is your issue with wealthy people that give back to the community - we should all be grateful for the "Haves" that are currently keeping thousands of people employed in Mississippi while donating millions to the our hospitals, the arts and numerous other charities and churches of this crumbling city. Why don't you ask the hundreds of family members of fallen officers and firemen about the "big bad" century club members that helped them through very tough times when our city could not. If you spent some time working instead of being a "green eyed" monster, you too could be in a position to give something other disdain for your fellow citizens.
The Century Club has raised millions for Blair Batson Children’s Hospital. To question the motives of the members is sheer stupidity.
