 Unknown to many, Jackson Academy has been working on changing its logo that appears on the varsity football helmets.  The Kingfish has many sources in many places.  One source sent the new logo to JJ.  Will it be rolled out for jamboree? Check it out.

 Before there was a Thalia Mara Hall, Jackson had its own opera house on East Capitol Street.  Built in 1901, the Century Theater seated over 1,400 people and hosted many luminaries over the years.

When Javier Milei burst onto the scene as a presidential candidate in Argentina in 2023, brandishing a chainsaw, many dismissed him as unhinged.  His radical libertarian platform was presented by the media as evidence of Argentina’s tragicomic decline. Argentina was poorer in 2023 than it had been two decades earlier. No, that headline does not refer to the exhibit at the Mississippi Wildlife Extravaganza but what Jackson Mayor John Horhn said yesterday in The Jambalaya with the Kingfish podcast.  It was something about what was waiting for him every time he turned over a stone in city government since he took office a month ago.   Mayor Horhn discussed the previous administration's failure to pay bills, Thalia Mara Hall problems, the apartments controversies, blight, and of course, Jackson's water problems.

Jackson's water/sewer receiver threatened to resign today.  WLBT reported: 

Like her mentor, Chokwe Antar Lumumba, Holly Springs voters threw out Mayor (and former Jackson city attorney) Sharon Gipson in April after she blew up the city's electric utility system.  A consultant investigated the utility for the Public Service Commission and issued a damning report today.  The system was understaffed, underfunded, and operated by managers with no experience in electrical utilities.  Sound familiar?

On May 21, 2023, I wrote a column titled “Corruption is not a crime under THE LAW.” Special Counsel John H. Durham had submitted “Report on Matters Related to Intelligence Activities and Investigations Arising Out of the 2016 Presidential Campaigns” the week before. I had read the entire report and believed it settled all the hoopla over “Crossfire Hurricane” aka “Russia, Russia, Russia.” Durham’s report did not find any actionable facts that would hold anyone accountable for any of the shenanigans by any of the parties involved.

Was sentence illegal?

A man convicted and sentenced to three counts of rape in March was free to rape again and rape again he did (allegedly).  

 While Madison and Gluckstadt slug it out over the annexation of an area between the two cities, Madison asked the Mississippi Supreme Court to allow it to provide municipal services to the disputed area until the Court rules on the matter.  

Speaking to my friends at Smith County Republicans the other day, someone asked me what I most loved about moving to Mississippi from London.
