A building home to the rite of passage for many came tumbling down today. Yup. They finally blew up the old Department of Public Safety building in Jackson this morning. Watch it all.
Of course, the state had to violate the Constitution this morning to make this happen. MDOT shut down the interstates and Woodrow Wilson to facilitate the demolition, violating the constitutional rights citizens have to travel. The right is absolute yet somehow the state managed to violate it.

Good thing they saved all the KKK material out of that building
Your ignorance is showing as usual. Closing one road while keeping an alternate route is not the same as detaining an individual and infringing on their rights to travel. Nice try though, jimmy boy.
Can you describe the ruckus, sir?
This went much better for the photographers than back when Atlanta had a bus stop right in front of the demolition of the Georgia Dome as it was initiated. Very interesting and a good view of the process.
Thanks Kingster, fun to watch! Good location for a Dollar General.🌞
Good spot to put some trees
I watching it live on an MDOT traffic cam. Cool. I find it ironic that even a law enforcement facility has moved out of Jackson.
Is anything going to be built in its place?
The state and its subdivisions violate the Constitution all the time. Just look at the city of Brandon's ordinance with no firearms and parts. Ever heard of the bruen supreme court decision?
good! byyyyyyeeeee
Where are they moving to ?
What are you talking about?
There is no right to travel on an interstate highway in the Constitution. Of course, they (the state and feds) violate the Constitution continuously.
It’s not a violation if there was a compelling state interest in order to protect the public.
1 down, 100 more to go.
How absolutely dumb was it to move the DPS out of Jackson? That is the one thing that NEEDS to be there.
That was and remains a terrible site for a high-traffic destination. The parking and access was terrible. Of course the entire UMMC campus is that way.
4:54 actually it makes sense. You don't want the Department of Public Safety located where there's no reasonable expectation of public safety.
What the hell are you talking about?
Most of the traffic to the building rode the Jatran.
They have a new location in downtown Jackson
Please direct us to the section of the constitution that says driving on an interstate is a right.
Darn, that would have made a great homeless encampment. ("Unhoused" for the woke crowd).
KF, you sound like a dumbass sovereign citizen. "Right to travel" means the ability to freely go from one jurisdiction to another without being impeded. Being inconvenienced by having to divert to another route is not a violation in any way. And the fact that you yourself detoured from logic and common sense just to make this assertion demonstrates a lot of ignorance and self-righteousness.
They really should have built the new one in West Jackson. Can you imagine the howls if it had been seriously proposed?
@9:09
That giant WOOSH over your head was not a transonic B1 Lancer. That was the joke.
@10:04 Oh yeah, if that was a joke I absolutely missed it. I still need it explained, if so. Did the state do something else unconstitutional with the demolition? Did someone complain earlier about it being a right to travel that I missed? I must have overlooked the set up cuz I'm lost.
Psych!
Why? Mouth breathers like yourself will never let it go...
The new building is located in Rankin County near the prison and Whitefield. It's a state agency that services the entire state and there's absolutely no reason for it to be in Hinds County. My sister is a long-time employee of DPS and says the new building is a vast improvement over the old dump that was imploded.
What will UMMC build in its place?
How did this start over a building getting demolished. Crime is everywhere. For you all to comment on this blog like there is nothing going on in Rankin County is hilarious. With the drive by shootings at gas stations, to the murders, to the child molesters, to the drug traffickers, to the corrupt cops, to the gangs, to the drug users, and so much more. The only difference between Hinds and Rankin County on that note is that in Hinds County the media shines a bright light on their crime but in Rankin the light is not so bright.
It really is remarkable to watch. They did a good safe job. I had read that the foundation was so bad, they knew they had to take it down. Its strange not seeing it there after so many years.
