The Ku Klux Klan leadership encouraged its members to use BB guns, stink bombs, and mad dogs to harass blacks and civil rights protestors in the 1960' in Mississippi.  The Klan gave specific instructions on how to harass its enemies in a series of memos issued to membership.  The memos are part of a collection of Klan documents discovered at the Mississippi Department of Public Safety last week.

Jody Owens really wants the public to hear his side of the story.  The Hinds County District Attorney filed a motion to lift restrictions on a motion to dismiss he filed in January after the Court almost immediately sealed the filing.  Owens is under indictment on public corruption charges.

The Guvnah and the Lieutenant Guvnah are going at it again.   The fun started when the legislature passed SB# 2026, a disaster relief bill and sent it to Governor Tate Reeves for approval.   However, the Governor surprisingly vetoed the bill.   The Governor blamed the Senate for changing the legislation after it was passed:

There will be no Spring Market or All 4 Children Consignment events at the Mississippi Trademart this weekend after an early morning fire at the facility today.   No one was injured. The fire broke out at a vendor's booth but was contained to that booth and several that were adjacent to it.  The two shows are cancelled.  Pictures of the carnage are posted below.

Buckshots, Aloha Wine & Spirits, and Rosetti's Liquor Barrel sued Ruan Transport in Harrison County Circuit Court earlier this month.  Ruan Transport manages the ABC warehouse in Gluckstadt.  All three plaintiffs are Gulf Coast package stores.

Capitol Police arrested the Fondren Firebug  on March 5 at the Shell gas station on Lakeland Drive for trespassing and malicious mischief.  Higgins is well known in the Fondren as he loves to torch buildings, smash windows, and vandalize homes.  He is predictably a veteran student of the Hinds County Catch & Release program.  However, his catch and release days might be coming to an end.

 Measles hit Spartanburg, South Carolina, hard. Reuters reported last month nearly 1,000 individuals got infected in Spartanburg County since October. The outbreak hit in places like the Global Academy of South Carolina where 21% of students had not been vaccinated, then spread to the unvaccinated at places like Costco, Publix, Goodwill, Burger King, the library, a museum, and the post office, reported the New York Times.

 In an effort to give ABC customers relief, the Mississippi House of Representatives passed a bill that will allow direct shipping of spirits to casinos, restaurants, and liquor stores.  A meltdown at the ABC warehouse pushed shipping times to nearly a month, wrecking havoc across the hospitality industry. 

 Residents and businesses in the Fondren can breathe more easily, at least for a few days.

 As ABC customers continue to suffer from the meltdown at the ABC warehouse, a House of Representatives committee moved to get them some relief today.  The State Affairs Committee amended a bill to allow ABC customers to bypass the warehouse and use direct shipping to get their orders delivered.

 "The City Council's got two options, the way I see it.  One is bankruptcy or they can work with us and pass this bill," decreed State Senator Joel Carter (R - McInnis's 12 Bone BBQ) as the State Senate Energy Committee passed a bill that will create a utility district for the city of Jackson.    

 Clayton Cochran is a free man but might still wind up back in jail after he goes to court this month.  Cochran is the son of the late Senator Thad Cochran.  

 A former State Senator might be going to jail because he just couldn't stay home while on house arrest. WLOX reported:

 College football stars might be getting special treatment in Mississippi after the House of Representatives passed a bill that will make their NIL compensation tax-free.  

The Justice Department wants to expand the jury pool in the prosecution of Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens, former Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba, and former Jackson Councilman Aaron Banks.  

It will probably be awhile before Dow Yoder gets out of jail.

 A.I. data center spending in America has created a boom for overseas manufacturers, not so much for manufacturers here at home.
