Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey issued the following statement.
On Wednesday, March 18, 2026, Curtis Edward Wilmoth was convicted of multiple counts related to the child sexual battery and gratification of lust after a trial that began on Monday.
This conviction is the climax for an investigation that began after the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department was made aware of the allegations.
During the sentencing phase of his conviction, Judge Brad Mills ordered that Curtis Wilmoth be remanded to the custody of the MS Department of Corrections for a period of 40 yrs with 20 yrs of that sentence suspended.
The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department would like to express its appreciation to Rankin County District Attorney Bubba Bramlett and his staff for their handling of this case.

apparently, it was his GRANDDAUGHTER with the abuse ongoing since she was 4 until she was 16! Tragic, MS needs to pass the death penalty law as Alabama has for child sex abuse.
