The Grinch will have to thumb through the latest version of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) to make sure that passes muster.
Only for the Holiday?
Its actually cooler than the pic KF, the lights 'roll' with your car as it rolls through the underpass.
Oh boy, color LED bulbs. Someone is having fun
Don't try this on acid.
I’m not used to seeing nice things in Jackson.
Future target practice for the scholars. I predict someone will sue because the lights startled them and caused them to wreck.
Lot of repaving DT too. Some of the work is not exactly on par (like Pearl St), but a huge improvement.
Acid? More like DMT
How soon before they are stolen?
I am so glad that the city of Jackson has ample money for such mundane projects.
Jackson can't have nice things, wake up people. This is like a 12-point Buck passing though safely....enjoy it while it lasts.
Copper wire theft in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...
Should have spent the money on potholes.
Doesn't it cause confusion with the traffic light when going East under the bridge toward I-55?
It's beautiful, and exactly the kind of thing Jackson needs to be doing.
Big thanks to two private groups - Downtown Jackson Partners and the Locke Ward crews. First pressure washed, then painted, and now this new attraction; folks who care about Jackson and see hope for its future now that the former 'administrators' (hate to use that term as they certainly didn't administer much except for Florida trips and strip club visits) are no longer controlling the tax dollars.
The city did do the quick patch of the downtown streets - yes, its not the same quality job that has been being done throughout the city, but it wasn't meant to be. This administration realized that there were tens of thousands of visitors coming to town for the National Folk Festival and the streets that were going to be used hadn't seen any work for decades - and they found funds within the city budget to do what should have been done every few years - a quick patch overlay. That's what most cities do with an occasional milling and new surface coat applied.
So - cudos to the city for doing what needed to be done; and Downtown Partners and the Ward crews for brightening up downtown.
That's so cool.
This is SO cool!
I’m selling my house and moving to Jackson now.
8:26 am, Agree.
Can't pay water bill or perform basic maintenance and management but COJ can decorate an underpass with tacky frivolity that distracts from driving??
