A Lyft driver was carjacked and beaten Saturday afternoon in West Jackson.
Michael Williams picked up three men in his 2019 Mercedes-Benz GLC sedan at 1175 Eminence Row. The men wanted him to drive them to Autumn Woods Apartments on Flag Chapel Road, which Williams did. Unfortunately, Williams received nothing but trouble for his troubles.
Once they arrived at the apartment complex, all three passengers pointed guns at Williams head. They stole his car but not before beating his face and teeth with a gun. He said the assault damaged his teeth. The thugs also took his phone.
Williams was able to use an app to track his car. JPD recovered the car on Queen Mary Lane and took it to the crime lab. Williams said "JPD was awesome working with Mercedes."
JPD actually recovered the car a few streets away and Williams managed to find his phone on the side of the Flag Chapel Road Sunday. It was miraculously undamaged.
Williams' troubles are not over. "Social media has been brutal to me. I was just trying to make $100," said Williams.

When he says "JPD is awesome" he loses all credibility.
Son, you have it all wrong. Taking a Mercedes into the hood is suicide. You're lucky to be alive, much less get your car and phone back. After thinking about it, you might need to go buy a few lottery tickets.
This most definately was not a hate crime.
always conceal carry in jackson
Amen but 3 on 1 with the draw is 3 on 1 with the draw.
Driving some likely thugs from one side of the hood to the other side of the hood in a Mercedes; what could possibly go wrong?
Chapter 539
Why we can't have nice things
A LYFT driver can choose whether to take the LYFT request. Anyone that chooses to pick up on Eminence Row is asking for it. The whole area is a high-crime haven. Very dangerous.
So, what's new.
@ 10:08 AM Conceal carry everywhere you can not just in Jackson
I cannot even imagine why someone would be willing to drive around in one of America's most dangerous cities picking up strangers. Even worse, they are in your back seat with a clear view of the back of your head.
If you're a Lyft or Uber driver don't give rides into, within, or out of the Jackson city limits. The same for Uber Eats. Hell, they won't even deliver pizzas to some areas anymore. It's just not worth it.
That’s why I’d use the picture and reviews before accepting a pick up, not 100%, but better than hopes and prayers with the people of Jackson.
And then there is the reserve JPD officer who gets shot at while some thugs try to steal his car. What could possibly go wrong at a gas station in the hood when you LEAVE YOUR KEYS IN THE IGNITION?
Lyfting in Jackson is a risk I never take alone.
Lyfting in those two specific locations is a risk I try to never take at all.
Social media may not have been nice to him—but that’s expected when you habitually post hyperbolic and seemingly made up shit to social media all the time (which this guy does). Ever heard of the boy who cried wolf?
That’s walking distance from the Medgar Evers house that they made into a federal monument. He has to be looking down shaking his head.
Dominoes in Clinton wont let its drivers cross into that part of Jackson.
Back in 1998, I made a medical delivery to a client on Eminence Row...............It was BAD then, would hate to think how it is now 26+ years later!
Social media is brutal to him because he’s a liar. Fake news!!
"Eminence Row" sounds like a block long series of 3 story town homes in London. Nope. This story just another case of Eminent Domain by unparented delinquents in Jackassville.
So, I'm the only one on here who realizes there are no witnesses, the Mercedes driver claims he was jacked and his phone taken. Later, his ride is found, unharmed, two streets away, as is his phone (Wow, figure that).
Is that a rat I smell?
Jesse Smollet all over again?
