Protest at Ole Miss

Gazan Arab supporters found themselves heavily outnumbered at a protest they held at Ole Miss today.

Approximately 30 protestors showed up to protest the war in Gaza but a JJ correspondent at Ole Miss reported nearly 200 young men who appeared to be of the fraternity variety showed up in counterprotest.  They sang The Star Spangled Banner in response to the protestors.

None of the chaos that took place at similar protests at other college campuses occurred today as Governor Tate Reeves made it clear he was not going to put up with any foolishness or hunting down Jews:

Mississippi law enforcement is also aware. And they are prepared. Campus police, City, County, and State assets are being deployed and coordinated. We will offer a unified response with one mission:
Peaceful protests are allowed and protected - no matter how outrageous those protesters views may seem to some of us.
But unlawful behavior will not be tolerated. It will be dealt with accordingly.
Law and order will be maintained!

Does anyone else believe that the Covid Hoax, Wu Flu, or whatever you want to call that experiment, allowed masks to be more socially acceptable to allow people to protest without showing their faces? Pre-Covid, if you saw someone walking around with a surgical mask on, you would raise a serious eyebrow. Since then, you have protestors at every turn wearing these masks while being outside with the wind blowing in open air. They aren't going to catch covid anyway, but it allows them to protest without having their faces seen. That's my tin foil hat moment of the day.

Oh, and if they felt so strongly about their cause, why hide behind a mask? Cowards, the lot of them.

HAHAHAHA oh yes who was it that said.......

"try that in a small town" ;)

The OBAMA PLAN is starting to pay dividends. These people hate the constitution and the USA. This is just the Hamas wing of the democratic party doing their part.

Anonymous said...

If you really want to protest then go where the action is on the Gaza Strip! May we all be at peace one day! But no fighting in our backyard!

Anonymous said...

Over/under on how many of them would take me up on the offer to fly them over there to really help the cause? 0/0?

As a student at Ole Miss I am ashamed to see this kind of misrepresentation of the peaceful protesters. Crazy to think frat boys are being supported in the news. The same frats that have drugged women in the past 3 years, the same frats that discriminate toward African American men who rush. What a shame on Ole Miss’ already long and shameful history. Good Luck with your genocide I guess.

Proudly flying American flags in the Grove. Who says we haven’t made progress?

Anonymous said...

@1:28 you are the best example of the opposite but equally offensive wing nut to the protestors

Anonymous said...

First, someone correct me if I’m wrong, but assuming Israel is committing genocide, where were these protestors when Hamas invaded Israel and committed genocide? Where is the lane for people who support neither side’s genocide?

Second, for the comment above, Covid hoax? So you don’t know anyone who died from Covid? Was the hospital unit UMC had to open in the parking garage a hoax? All of us who got sick, everyone I know, we were in on the hoax?

Anonymous said...

If you're too ashamed to show your face, you may want to re-evaluate what you're protesting against!

Anonymous said...

Why are the Marxists "leading" these sorts of protests always mostly white women?

Anonymous said...

1:49 PM, peaceful protestors who just happen to support terrorists. That's like having a petting zoo full of rattlesnakes. Not buying it!

Anonymous said...

It's fascinating that the majority of protesters are women. This seems to be true for these types of protests on other campuses. Why is this?

Anonymous said...

Once again, this stuff is going on at OLE MISS, not Ms. State!!!

Anonymous said...

Who is dying from covid now and who is wearing a mask outside in the open air? Not one sane person does that. People die from the flu every year? Car wrecks, murder in Jackson? Where is the outrage that sometimes, people die. Wearing a mask outside is not the mark of a logical person, it's someone using a cop out to hide their face. Covid made it more of an accepted practice. Even then those little masks weren't doing a damn bit of good, yet people were refused entry for not wearing one. Lunacy I tell ya!

@1:49

You obviously hate it there.
Why don’t you try another school?

Anonymous said...

If they set up tents will they be required to have chandeliers?

Anonymous said...

@ 1:49 Yet you keep giving your parents’ hard earned cash to perpetuate those Old South myths.

All a psyop funded and carefully planned by our adversaries to destroy from within.

Hate to sound like Alex Jones but most of the protesters are outside paid agitators.

Our corrupt politicians do not care because if we start a war with one another we will too busy to come for them, although they are limiting free speech now in the name of anti-antisemitism.

I'm a student at Ole Miss that took part in the counter protest. The 200 of us were not just "white frat boys". There were black, white, mexican, men, and women all counter protesting and singing the star spangled banner. Let it be known that we don't tolerate this pro-hamas bs.

Anonymous said...

Attn 3:22 PM. All you are doing is perpetuating the protest. Ignore them like most schools do. They will not stay there if they feel they are being inconsequential. Most schools have already learned this, but it takes some schools longer to figure it out.

Anonymous said...

The Marxists in the White House want to fly Palestinians to the U.S.

More voters for the Democrat Marxist party, and terrorist sleeper cell participants.

Lock and load.

3:35, ignoring a problem doesn't always make it go away.

Ole Miss needs to get on the baseball practice field instead of protesting since they lost the Governor's Cup! Ha! Ha!

Anonymous said...

Amen, 2:02 p.m.!

Are we the only ones here who feel sandwiched between two slices of crazy?

Anonymous said...

@3:22: Thank you.

Anonymous said...

3:35 said, "Ignore them like most schools so". Haven't watched the news in the past three days, have you Luther?

Far from ignoring these violent, disturbing and threatening 'protests', the local PoPo, national guard, campus police and highway patrol agencies are arresting thousands of them.

I'm encouraged by the wimpy ass protesters who occupy buildings and demand that the school provide them with food according to their lunch contracts. Phone mom for a shipment of cookies and a change of drawers. Big LOL.

Those who curse them will be Cursed.

3:55 PM, yes that attitude has worked very well for criminals. The law ignores them and after a while they begin to think they are winning. Most schools are encouraging the students.

Anonymous said...

Ignore crime? Genius!

(see also: Jackson MS for likely outcome of this plan)

2:07 Yes.

They need to do like at Columbia University and have the pro-Israel demonnstrators set up the big screen TV playing the video of Hamas soldiers cheering the killing oif Israel civilians

Anonymous said...

" Once again, this stuff is going on at OLE MISS, not Ms. State!!! "

Give it time.

The State College kids were too busy protesting about their cafeteria running out of chitlin's.

Anonymous said...

If the purpose of the counter protest was to reject support for Hamas, why were the students chanting USA?

Anonymous said...

As an MSU graduate, I'm proud of the Ole Miss students who oppose the anti-Semites. These pro-Hamas nuts don't protest the October 7 genocide. There are still Israeli and American hostages. Free the hostages and the war ends. The civilian blood is on Gazan hands, not Israeli hands.

Anonymous said...

The majority of Israelis disapprove of their leader and his failure to be prepared for October 7th and the blundering invasion of Gaza. Two wrongs do not make a right. Israel has created a huge problem going forward and will not destroy Hamas. Critiquing a fool like netanyahu is not anti- Semitic. It is calling out a terrible leadership.
Also, like it or not, but the protesters of Vietnam and the Iraq War had it right. The actions of the IDF in Gaza are inhumane. This failed Gaza invasion must stop.

@1:49
Thank you for you comment Stacey S.

BTW, it isn’t her parents paying for her education, it’s her ex husband.

Anonymous said...

3:35, ignore the protest? You’re a weak ass bitch. Please go back to your momma’s basement and suck on your pacifier. You and your ilk are the reason the country is in the toilet, not pushing back and fighting evil.

Anonymous said...

Seriously, 3:55? In a post about significant events, you want to bring up a game, an exhibition game at that? I guess you’re one of the people who make comic book movies so popular. Get a life.

Anonymous said...

So, the kid in the camo hat works at a Starbucks on campus and was wearing a USA hat not too long ago

Not sure who the other people are, whether they are actually students or not.

At one point, the protestors tried to chant something but because of their masks, you couldn’t make it out.

Anonymous said...

I hope the Ole Miss protesters didn’t make the same grave mistake as the Columbia protesters and forget to bring snacks to their revolution.

Anonymous said...

7:00 talks like an anti-Semite.

Anonymous said...

" the actions of the IDF in Gaza are inhumane. This failed Gaza invasion must stop."

Nope, not at all.

HAMAS started this conflict last October 7th, and the IDF is ending it.

This is the best example of FAFO that I've ever seen.

I’ll never understand how protesting in front of students and faculty at a college in Oxford MS about a conflict between two countries across the world (because you believe one side is more right than the other and/or that the US government based in DC is supporting one side more than the other) makes any sense at all. There are so many other places more applicable. Reminds me of when I drove by the Governor’s Mansion in 2020 and the BLM protesters were outside the gates yelling at new to the job Reeves about “police brutality” when JPD was a few blocks down the street and the Democrat mayor they work for was at City Hall a couple blocks to the south. There were at the wrong place for a reason. Of course we all know BLM suddenly became disinterested as soon as the presidential election was over. I suspect these protesters are similarly motivated. The old “darker people are being abused by lighter people so we need to gen up emotions and support for the party associated with darker people during an election cycle” routine.

5/2/24 at 7:00 pm is called an “anti-Semite” for pointing out a reasonable criticism of the governmental leadership of Israel. This is like calling someone “anti-American” because they criticize the actions of the American government. This is silly. Lots of Americans need to back up and give this some thought.

Interesting how a lot of conservative leaning people are all for free speech until it is speech they don’t like. And I am way to the right of most people.

Seriously 2:38. I'm a State grad and your comment is embarrassing. Grow up!

Anonymous said...

@5:54 - truth hurts - get over it.

Just a normal dude said...

8:17 PM - The Governor's Cup wasn't a "exhibition" game. Also, it didn't count as a "conference" game. It was just a normal regular season game that counts towards the overall record.

Hilarious that Miss Stake students drove over to Ole Miss to protest.

I'm counting several outfits that would surely be prohibited in Gaza/Palestine. Ironic that people use our free speech rights to advocate for them to be taken away!

If you've been to Palestine, I don't think bombs are their worst problem.

Would love to know why the protesters never protested the slaughter of Syrians that has been going on for years, nor the oppression of Kurds in Iraq and Turkey, nor the treatment of Coptic Christians in Egypt, nor Christians being killed and persecuted in Nigeria, nor the treatment of Uighurs in China? But now the Jews, when they are involved in war for self-preservation against a terrorist organization that is dedicated to extermination of Israel, supported by Iran’s government’s whose publicly stated goal is the extermination of Israel, that’s something to get riled about. Never mind that Hamas deliberately uses civilians as fodder for propaganda purposes. The more dead civilians caused by Hamas’s tactics, the better for Hamas’s propaganda against Israel and Jews.

8:44 for today's WIN!

Anonymous said...

Both groups have a right to express their views. And, by the way, this has nothing to do with the trivial Ole Miss v State rivalry.

Anonymous said...

Agree with 09:59. These protesters are supporting the “current thing” as usual, some are paid, there’s also non college students involved, weapons are also being found. They’re demanding food and asking their arrest records be sealed, I like that NYPD was taking off their face diapers to expose them on camera. Of course Hamas and Iran will use this as propaganda for their useful idiots in the U.S.

Anonymous said...

@1043

If you think that the IDF will destroy all of Hamas, then you are crazy. Do you remember the problems that resulted for Israel from the last occupation of Gaza. The actions of the IDF are isolating Israel.
The criticism of the nature of this invasion is warranted. My prediction is that Israel will regret this over the next years. This is similar to the way most Americans grew critical towards American policy in Iraq and Afghanistan. Those wars have wrecked America's politics and budget. Israel will face many problems for years to come because of the nature of its response in Gaza.

I can say all of this and still condemn October 7th.

Anonymous said...

People who've never set foot on either University campus are the main ones crowing about rivalry silliness on these threads.

Those of us who actually attended college at a Mississippi campus are fully united and supportive in this scenario.

7:00 lied about Israel and lied about Gaza. Yes, 7:00 is an anti-Semite.

Hamas started this war on October 7th. When you wage war you put your citizens at risk, especially when citizens are used as human shields. Israel has every right to fight back.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
