Looking at you, Chief Justice
Barack Patton (allegedly) raped, pillaged, and thugged his way through the Clinton area but has yet to face justice thanks to judges who refuse to do their job.
Barak Patton is the nephew of Hinds County Constable John Brown and the late Hinds County Court Judge Houston Patton. Patton was arrested for shooting people, robbing stores at
gunpoint, beating clerks, possessing stolen firearms, and raping and strangling (allegedly) a 14 year-old girl. Patton never faced justice as then-District Attorney Robert Shuler Smith and Circuit Judge Tomie Green worked together to keep him free.
Police arrested Patton in January 2020 for shooting and robbing a man in Clinton. Patton sat in jail with a high bond until May 22, 2020 when Circuit Judge Tomie Green reduced his bond to $10,000 and placed him under house arrest. Patton allegedly raped a 14 year-old girl a week later. However, this
District Attorney Jody Owens said enough is enough and successfully got
Judge Green to revoke his bond on June 2, 2020. This website discovered the earlier arrests and reported their lack of prosecution. Mr. Owens took action. The newly-frocked District Attorney collected the files and presented them to the grand jury in June and July. The grand jury returned indictments in no less than four separate cases.*
Patton still resides at the Raymond Detention Center without bond.
The cases were assigned to Judge Green but were reassigned to Special Circuit Judge Frank Vollor in September 2022. Unfortunately, Judge Vollor took no action on the Patton indictments as he did his best impersonation of Judge Green. The "Honorable" Judge Vollor proved to be a bit of a slug on the bench as he only held four trials in 2023 and resigned his appointment at the end of 2023. The docket posted below is for the rape indictment. The dockets for the other cases follow a similar pattern.
Chief Justice Mike Randolph has not appointed a replacement for Judge Vollor. Meanwhile, the Barak Patton indictments just sit there.... and sit there....... and sit there. A rape victim and numerous people who had guns stuck in their faces must wonder if the youngest member of the John Brown Crime Family will ever face justice.
* Here are the indictments against Patton.
The grand jury indicted Patton for forcible rape and sexual battery of a 14 year-old child. Law enforcement sources said he was allegedly strangling her during the rape. The alleged rape took place just a few days after Judge Tomie Green released him from jail.
The grand jury indicted Patton on July 10 for two armed robberies and aggravated assault that took place on January 1, 2020. The indictment accuses Patton of shooting and robbing Clark Taylor. The case is assigned to Judge Green. Although arrested in January, he was not even bound over to the grand jury.
Clinton police arrested Patton and three accomplices for allegedly robbing several convenience stores over two years ago. February 2018 post on robberies. No indictments took place on the case until June 2020.
(First Indictment) Patton and his posse (Javien Palmer, Robert Kelly,
and Roderick Carter) robbed their way through Clinton convenience stores
in early 2018. The grand jury indicted him July 10, 2020 for armed robbery
and conspiracy. .
(Second Indictment) The grand jury indicted Patton on July 10, 2020 for armed
robbery and conspiracy for allegedly robbing two convenience stores at
gunpoint in early 2018.
The Clarion-Ledger reported in 2018:
Over a 10-day span from Jan. 30 to Feb. 9, several gas stations in Clinton and Bolton were robbed at gunpoint. Now, just over 12 days after the date of the final robbery, the Clinton Police Department announced it made four arrests.Barak Patton, Javien Palmer, Robert Kelly and Roderick Carter, all of Clinton, have been arrested and are being held on by bond. Patton's bond is $1.25 million, Palmer's is $750,000, Kelly's is $500,000 and Carter is being held on a $1 million bond. The first robbery took place at 8 p.m. Jan. 30. At that time, a masked male entered the Clinton Gas located at 410 U.S. Highway 80 East in Clinton. Armed with a black pump action shotgun, the suspect struck the clerk with the weapon and stole the cash from the register and a pack of cigarettes before fleeing on foot behind the gas station... Rest of article.
The grand jury indicted Patton on May 16, 2018 for possessing a stolen firearm in September 2017. The case is assigned to Judge Green. The case has been continued numerous times. It just sits there.... doing nothing..... doing its best impersonation of a Sopranos no-show.
Patton started his criminal career with a bang - literally. The grand
jury indicted him for aggravated assault in May 2018 after he allegedly
shot someone in September 2016 (Notice how long it is taking Patton to
get indicted on these cases?). The case is assigned to Judge Tomie
Green. The case has been repeatedly continued as it collects several inches of dust.

Remember that Clinton is located in Hinds County.
Sometimes it is up to the people to do the job law enforcement refuses to do.
Excellent post, Kingfish. Bring it to light. I, too, would like to know why Chief Justice Randolph hasn't handled this. And this time, appoint a judge who would actually do something.
We live among a generation of people who don't want to work. We should not be surprised to see judges carrying themselves in the same way. A black robe does not build character - they either have it before they become a judge...or they don't.
It's a crying shame that street justice hasn't been served on poor little Barack.
The harm done by Green and Smith will haunt us for years--
Is there a Tommie Green death count since she is directly responsible for putting all these animals back out on the streets?
@11:03 Law Enforcement did their job. It is the Circuit Court Judge that failed to do hers.
Maybe some day he'll upgrade his targets to liquor stores. They shoot back.
Send him over to my house in Madison to attempt a home invasion. He will immediately suffer a "dirt nap."
Case closed.
Barak Malik Patton is no fool because he knows not to venture out of the Hinds County Jurisdiction!
To the Family of Barak Malik Patton I would highly suggest you get a life insurance policy because this fool has a death wish and the policy payoff is coming soon if he continues this behavior pattern!
Mr Mayor have a press conference and get this fool off the streets. Right!
This fool is out of control and coming to a family near you. Lock Load and Let Loose!
Dig into the arrest histories of those other accomplices. They've been caught and released over and over again, too.
Judge Wooten checking in! Let this little fella become a highly decorated police officer. He'll be tried and found guilty in no time!
Your honor, motion to fix.
Someone will stop him cause the Hinds County Judges feel warm and fuzzy about him for some reason!
Up here in Madison County we would welcome him with open arms and 00-buck.
wasn't the woman who owns Bullies, a brown relative too!!! the lady who shot the unarm guy in front of the liquor store?
Gonna catch some shrapnel for criticizing Randolph from some of your non-boot wearing fanboys.
I'm at the point where I believe judges, cops, lawyers, they're all being threatened by thugs for the lives of themselves and their families. Nothing else explains how these criminals can skate for so long without consequence.
For guys like this, there is an absence of "virtue" being taught at home and in the schools. Our Founding Fathers taught that virtue is comprised of 4 main features: honesty, industriousness, community, and religiosity.
"Hinds County Constable John Brown"
Well, once again ... that speaks volumes.
Another example of why people deserve who they vote for...
The Hinds County Justice System is broken like the City of Jackson water & sewer before it was taken over by the Feds. Same needs to happen to the Hinds County Justice system.
12:12 PM, you can say what ever you want but the truth is he has been released too many times. I consider judges part of law enforcement even. No matter who has decided the thug should be let out to commit more crimes, it is time for the citizens to do the job.
Misery loves company in Hinds County. Keep voting for and appointing woke Democrats.
Seems his crime lifestyle started quite early.
Maybe his parents (and all parents) should face charges when they birth and refuse to train such useless spawn?
I am glad this THUG is off the streets. Hope he goes to big boy prison for the crimes he has committed. I blame the parents for his actions, and also the Hinds County Justice System for catering to him.
