The Mississippi V.A. threw in the towel on staying in West Jackson. This little request for quotes for professional services appeared in the Bureau of Buildings, Grounds, and Real Property Management's website.
The V.A. has been looking at a new site for the West Jackson home for several years. The area is obviously plagued with crime. However, it is often forgotten the V.A. is a healthcare system as it operates several nursing homes. When Jackson water service suffers, the West Jackson veterans home suffers. It can not operate without water service and repeatedly bringing in water is well, impractical to say the least. It was only a matter of time.

The circling of the bowl continues…even with low water pressure.
Even more reasons to put Jackson into receivership. The level of incompetence is incomprehensible.
I am glad to see this. The residents deserve so much more. What will it take to get Jackistan rulers to wake up??
Where is the Mayor and the City Council? Isn't this right by the ZOO?
That’s going to be a loss of 150 direct jobs and probably 50 contract/vendor jobs, plus about a $10 million economic loss. Not to mention a $60 million construction project if relocated to another property in Jackson.
Question: was the city aware of this move? Did the State or VA solicit input from the city “leadership?”
It's no secret that the Veterans Affairs Board solicited properties from Madison and Rankin. Madison offered property on the East side of I-55 between Madison and Gluckstadt. Rankin offered property out on 468 adjacent to State Hospital.
Did the Veterans Board ask Jackson/Hinds for prospective properties?
And I'm sure Rankin County would welcome the VA Home with open arms......and functioning utilities.
Great move. People who risked their lives for our country deserve better than having to retire to a war zone inside of a 3rd world country. As bad as it no doubt was, fighting the Nazis in Europe, Communist in the jungles of southeast Asia, or Islamic terrorist in the mountains of Tora Bora could never prepare a person for the prospect of spending a night inside the city limits Jackson, Mississippi.
The road leading from Capitol Street thru the wooded area to the federal land was marked by illegal dumping. It was a disgrace to families visiting no doubt.
Read between the lines of yesterday's press release and you'll see that the butt naked Emperor is saying Jackson can't fix AND maintain OBC without outside help.
A hidden from the public hazardous substance leak into the environment, non-functional OBC and, now, over two weeks straight of boil water alerts while you haven't heard a peep from Lumumba's apologists Kid Judin and the Barksdalers.
If the Mayor of Jackson was white or a black conservative (or Republican) we'd already have the national media camped in Jackson howling about race and equity.
Hey Ladd, it isn't about what you say that makes you a FRAUD, it is about what you don't.
Stop censoring comments and protecting these incompetent donkeys!
Lumumba's planned evacuation of Jackson.
Just going back to days gone by, I remember the "Old Ladies Home" on Capital St.
I remember when the Baptist Children's Village was on the grounds where Jackson Mall was built.
Leaving because they are racist and don’t want to pay their fare share
That's a lot of money to spend to abandon a 24 year old facility. Drill a well. Hire guards.
and--did you see...that garbage rates are going way up!
@12:31 - right. Continue throwing good money after bad. It's the Jackson/democrat/maroon way.
11:15 AM
About a Mile west. Right on the east side of I-220.
11:19 AM
I guarentee it won't be relocated within the city of Jackson.
War Veterans Flee War Zone. Local boaters aid Dunce-Kirk Evacuation along Pearl River as Local Emperor Antar threatens lawsuit over racist desire to live. Local resistance forces blow bridges to prevent Jackistan terrorists from infiltrating Rankin, but UN Ambassador urges armed intervention to rebuild racist bridges under Chairman Buttegieg.
Vets cry tears of joy at thought of running water, electricity, and garbage service upon reaching a civilized society.
News at 11.
They build a new home each time they get a new director?
Thank God.
Also newsworthy today is today is the last day of for Jackson's Abortion mill PTL
"Did the Veterans Board ask Jackson/Hinds for prospective properties?"
Is this a rhetorical question? F-no they didnt ask them, who would. Nothing or no one is making moves to the city of Jackson when they have better options.
During the next election cycle someone should comb Jackson Jambalaya archive of all the business that left Jackson & list them on a Hugh billboard!
Clack Weed Lu Bombba will be fired. Right. Right!
@2:51
The billbords would have to play a video with rhyming audio and feature an influencer.
Antar’s constituents aren’t strong readers.

Clearly, it's racist to want clean drinking water for your patients. I mean, who do they think they are?
Man, Stacey Pickering so wanted to put his name on this home
12:00pm,2:41 and 4:03 for the win!!!
Chockalok and his team should be charged with theft by Shadrick for being paid and not doing their job- its theft, plain and simple-elected or not - Dereliction of duty and huge environmental issues on both water and sewer side that are intuitional criminal neglect.
Come on with it Sir Stokes!!!
Nothing for the .gov to abandon a building. I’ve seen plenty of bases where they just build brand new barracks or structures and then the base shuts down. Pascagoula and Roosevelt Roads are like that, buildings were brand new and still had stickers on the windows.
False equivalency, 4:58. Your examples have no relationship or comparison to the situation at the Veterans' Home. You might as well have mentioned a neighbor who bought a new lawnmower when the one he had just needed hosing off.
Ripe time for a press conference. Where is the half-wit?
The secrecy with which this "Board" operates is alarming. They do not seek input from the veterans they purport to represent.
We have to take care for of our Veterans. We have to.
A friendly reminder for all of us that WATER IS THE ONLY RESOURCE WE CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT.
@11:38
There are quite a few others but point taken
@9:15, the Veterans' Board met today in Jackson, did you attend the meeting, which appears not to been held in secret and provide your input?
@8:27
I just checked msva.ms.gov. I don’t see a meeting schedule. Most public bodies post their board meetings on their website and on Mississippi transparency weeks and months in advance. Veterans board posts on transparency 24 hours in advance. Most veterans don’t check transparency daily.
PSA: Pickering’s LinkedIn still says Executive Director of Mississippi Veterans Affairs. The greatest pretender still pretending.
