Rankin County Deputies are searching for four auto burglary suspects after a chase ended at Old Canton Road and Ridgewood Road. The suspects are considered to be armed and dangerous.
Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey said a homeowner saw the suspects burglarizing his vehicle and called the police. A deputy saw a vehicle matching the description at Shaggy's and gave chase. The chase ended when the driver of the white Honda Pilot ran off the road and ran over a utility pole at Old Canton Road and Ridgewood Road at 11:50 PM.
Two suspects ran west down Old Canton Road while the other two suspects ran north through the neighborhood. More deputies arrived to assist the heavily outnumbered but brave deputy. A U.S. marshal, JPD officers, and Hinds County deputies soon arrived to assist the Rankin Deputies. Sheriff Bailey arrived on the scene shortly after midnight. Sheriff Bailey deployed K9 units but they were unable to catch the suspects. However, a suspect was detained at Shaggy's. He said he was waiting on his girlfriend but just happened to be wearing a shirt that said Copiah County on it. The license plate of the Honda was from Copiah County. The vehicle was not reported stolen.
Deputies retrieved two pistols, a Glock and a Springfield Armory X series. The Springfield was stolen from a victim tonight but the Glock was stolen in Jackson. An Apple laptop was recovered from the Honda as well. Sheriff Bailey said the suspects hit at least three vehicles tonight in Rankin County. The four suspects are black males.

Where was JPD?
Copiah county tag and a copiah co tee shirt... is that crystal springs? I'm not familiar with copiah co
I bet their daddies will be giving them a spanking when they get home.
Seems it would be easy to find these punks as Copiah county is likely super small. Am I correct to assume this?
Just to be clear,
Copiah county isn't small... both hazelhurst and crystal springs are in copiah co.
That would be a light pole, not a power pole.
@ 6:27,
You seem a little too excited by daddy's spankings. Doubt daddy's spank in copiah co.
I'm supposed to believe that part of being a " responsible gun owner" is to leave your guns in your cars?
You are beyond lazy if you can't take them out and secure them.
And, you wonder how criminals get guns.
I wonder what neighborhood and if the cars were unlocked or they were breaking windows. The fact these thugs from other cities are coming into the 'burbs and risking their lives is pretty ballsy. Rankin county has a pretty good track record of finding guys like them.

Actually it's a utility pole.
Thanks for some true reporting and asking pertinent questions. If this had been one of the local TV reporters the questions would have been more along the lines of "what right does Rankin County LEO have to come into Jackson" or "will you clean up the where your K9's poop while in Jackson?"
Who wants to make a wager on how long the "light" pole will be on the side of the road?
Jade from WJTV showed up and did a FB li 've post that was pretty good.
What's the justice system like in copiah county?
@8:37
Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey always gets his man. He has an MRAP. He's ain't skeered of Jackson thugs.
I'm betting that at least 2 or 3 of them are "out on parole" for previous felonies.
I know the guy that caught them in the act. He heard something outside, looked and saw his vehicles lights on. He walked outside and could hear them down the street. The car that picked them up drove by and he got the tag number. They didn't get anything from him. He lives in a safe neighborhood believe it or not. Looks like some thugs from Jackson decided to drive over.
Seems they are likely from copiah co judging by the shirts and car tag. I grew up in crystal springs and they have some real winners there. Smh!
Is Crystal Springs where Crystal Methodists reside? Asking for a dancer...named Crystal.
stolen guns. huh? thought everyone who owned them keeps them locked in the gun safe except for the one by the bed for personal protection.
Wouldn't it be a good idea for law enforcement to have the power to stop the vehicle using whatever means necessary?
Yes. The use of unlimited force to stop the vehicle should be legal with full immunity for the officers.
These shit eaters should have faced a nice barrage of gunfire once they decided to endanger everyone on the road.
How the Hell do four guys get away on foot? Especially if they are from Copiah. They must live close by!
I saw Windrose and Woodlake mentioned on FB as areas that were burglarized.
Copiah resident was visiting someone in Jackson. Their vehicle was stolen by Jackson thugs and taken to Rankin County to commit crimes. Rankin chased them back to Jackson....
Oh how I wished Shaggy's would have built on the other side of the Rez. Cheap fried seafood and colorful drinks are an "attractive nuisance" to the Jacksonians and Ridgelandites.
Makes perfect sense they'd try to seek refuge within the safe confines of a sanctuary crime city.
@10:09. In this society, some of us always want a gun within arm's reach wherever we may be -- always, not just when sleeping -- home, auto, work, boat or walking. If you only have a gun at home by the bed, then that's the only time that it may save your life.
After reading these posts I feel odd that the Rankin co. crowd hates people from Jackson crossing into Rankin. A large portion of physicians practicing in flowood live in Jackson. Also Jackson resident opened a plastics clinic across from prep. My neighbor owns the upscale interior place in flowood. My 3 kids attend Jackson prep as,well as loads of other Jackson kids. Just seems odd Rankin co. Residents would feel this way.
1:52; Upon what body of evidence do you base that little theory?
@2:53 if you want to be specific, we rankinites, for fear of being called names, defer to Jackson as a whole. What we really mean is the majority of residents west of I-55.
The license plate of the Honda was from Copiah County. The vehicle was not reported stolen.
2:53, they build restaurants to attract the Jackson crowd you described. But the big money won't actually move to Rankin. They either say in NE Jackson or go to Madison. Mostly starter neighborhoods in Rankin County. Rankin is destined to become the next Highway 80. Maybe they will eventually get a Creshales.
Ridgewood and Adkins, not Old Canton. I drove through this intersection a few moments ago and it’s still backed up because the light is out.
VERY reliable sawces told me at lunch today that the one left behind at Shaggy's rolled on all the others, a bunch of stolen stuff related to the criminal activities were recovered and it's just a matter of time for the others to face justice in Rankin County.
4:00 Uhhhh Hwy 80 runs through 100% of Rankin county and not Madison. Rankin and Madison(not the city) are counties, not cities.
VERY reliable sawces told me at lunch today that the one left behind at Shaggy's rolled on all the others...
Is there no honor among thieves?
12:29 is the only one to get it right. Our car was locked and parked in Belhaven area. Thugs took it and went on the crime spree. Rankin SO notified us and did a super Job. When we reported theft to JPD they were also very professional. FYI a thug wearing a stolen Copiah County shirt does not equal to a Copiah County thief.
Who the hell would 'steal' a t-shirt emblazoned with Copiah? And more importantly, why?
The above comment about shaggy‘s is right on the money. That place is nothing but a magnet for trash out of Jackson. Go in there on a Friday and Saturday night and you will see for yourself. They’ve had so many arrests in there, people getting knocked out and beat up on their deck, people running from the cops to avoid DUI. That place is becoming a nuisance business. If you ask any of their former employees you will hear that the owners are horrible operators as well.
The proof is these thieves were hanging out at Shaggys.
Shaggy's is just one more representation of very, very poor PRVWSD management decisions. The entire reservoir is (or was) a gold mine as far as economic development opportunity. Sigman and his group have shit it away and won't stop with Shaggy's.
Coming soon to Spillway road: Dollar General and Waffle House. And Khayak and Tube rentals over on the Rankin Landin' side.
To all you scared racists. You might be a bigot but your biracial grandkids wont be.
LMAO
I don’t know about a T-Shirt, but I’d pay good money for a Madison belt buckle.
@8:11, we're not scared of a color, we're scared of people prowiling around our homes and jacking our shit. It may be cool in other cultures, but not ours. Your friends aren't going to LMAO when they are toting lead and its about to come to that. What part of coming to another county and stealing people's stuff is cool or funny? We don't hate normal people, just thugs...of any color.
shaggy 's is a low rent glorified captain D's, where the rankin county nic-nars can go to pretend they are in gulf shores alabama and contemplate how they are going to make their next payment on their 90,000$ pickup tucks which they are, of course, upside down on. oh, and don't forget the payment on the yeti cooler.
Is it accidental that Shaggy's was built just a few feet from the Reservoir Police Station? How the hell could any of those guys run forty feet? Yet they're ordering fries and onion rings at Shaggys with double chocolate syrup on their cream pie.
