Sounds like the problem solved itself. And it will repeat again tomorrow. Let's just pray an innocent child or someone's mother doesn't die in the crossfire.
Lawlessness has reached a catastrophic level in this country. Now, all we hear is "prison reform".
I just carry a weapon in my pocket and a long gun in my car these days.
Whatever.
Prison reform hastens the reckoning. We need to get it over with. The history of civil strife will repeat. The test of our experiment will be what sort of nation emerges from the next rubble.
Where is the uproar - media like what has been reported on the Prison System?
Their aim is getting better. Must be all those Youtubers like Paul Harrell training people how to shoot.
Jackson was doing so well, I think only 2 murders in January.
The Chapman family is suffering today, assuming these victims were related.
However, Jackson didn't appear to make the list of highest murder rates in America

"The suspect is known and investigators are working to verify his identity."
Chokwe's utopia...
But but... CORONAVIRUS!
For those complaining about prison reform, who would you rather have incarcerated - a murderer or an addict? I haven’t heard anyone preaching shorter sentences for murder. Also, there is plenty of uproar for gun reform, education, and mental health funding which seem like the paths to make the greatest difference long term in the murder rate. Unfortunately, the GOP won’t move on any of those so we are left with the status quo.
This is tragic. Just tragic.
Even more tragic - we can not discuss the problem, identify the root causes
or point out the pathetic disregard for the value of life due to political correctness.
We’ve all been lulled into acceptance and threatened into silence. Therefore, the carnage continues.
End every newscast with the faces of the current year’s victims. Avoiding reality will not stop this senseless killing.
NAW! Not in the BOLD New city!
What??? You mean none of these people had the phone number of one of the mayor's 'credible messengers' to resolve these interpersonal relationships?
@ 9:52 get it over with then c/sucker, u wanna be internet tough guy poser...
this is part of what can happen when the leadership of a city no longer cares
@10:38 AM - that list is from....wait for it.....2018, but thanks, Bevis.
It would appear that in each case the suspects have been inadvertently splashed with peepee poopoo water from a sewage filled pothole.
The suspects then followed the victims home in a rage. Anger, fueled by their soiled urban wear, they proceeded to confront the victims.
Without adequate conflict resolution, a gunbattle ensued and the lesser marksman met his demise.
"Off and running!" in 2020
If you live in THE BOLD NEW CITY, you better have a weapon at hand at all times. Human life has no value on the mean streets of this third world mid-sized city. But........... NOBODY really cares, do they.
10:38, Jackson's 2019 murder rate of 51 per 100,000 matches the #2 city for 2018, which was Baltimore. In 2018, Detroit was #3 with 38, so it wasn't even a close 3rd place. I presume Jackson isn't on the list because the city refused to release its statistics in its fight against the perception of crime.
And yet we continue to fail to point the finger at the culprits. It is not going to get better. It is a culture in gross decline.
According to MDOC, there are currently 40 inmates on Death Row in MS, and the last execution was in 2012. Hopefully AG Fitch will crank up whatever method of killing these animal, save us taxpayers millions annually, and create a like number of vacancies.
Wait, the invasion of privacy, tax payer funded cameras did not prevent these culture based crimes?
11:57 u r right on.
I’ve always heard one has to acknowledge the problem before the problem can b addressed. Our society is restricted in addressing our criminal problem because of political correctness. The media is complicit in this problem. Does the media not know that the first amendment will be gone if this country falls? Has the media not studied history to c that tyrants want a disarmed society to make it defenseless? Destroying the second amendment will certainly lead to the destruction of the first, as well as all the others. As long as the truth is masked by political correctness & our society is unable to address the issue, our society will continue on this destructive path.
If you are having a picnic or maybe visiting friends for a game of trivial pursuit on Garner Street, I would think the odds of getting killed there are far higher than the odds of getting killed while on an extended stay in Parchman. Admittedly, I have not run the math.
"Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba is looking for innovative ways to deal with crime in the Capital City.
The Mayor discussed water theft and the investigation that has led to multiple arrests including some city employees.
He also tells us about his hopes for a Credible Messenger Program and how it may deescalate volatile and dangerous situations."
Mayor Lumumba said, “You have to make certain that you are educating people, that they know, cause they’re going into extremely dangerous circumstances, not high risk circumstances, the highest risk of circumstances in order to deescalate those things, deescalate those conflicts. And so we’ve been working to get them there and we’re proud of the progress."
We’re doing what we can, but we have not received any support on this."
