Attorneys DQ'ed in Water Bill Lawsuit

The city of Jackson issued the following statement.
Tuesday, Hinds County Chancery Court Judge Tiffany Grove signed an order to disqualify former City of Jackson attorneys Pieter Teeuwissen and Anthony R. Simon, currently of Simon & Teeuwissen, PLLC and Jeffrey M. Graves of Graves Legal Services, PLLC from representing six water-sewer customers seeking to stop the City of Jackson from issuing water cut-off notices and terminating any service to delinquent customers. The civil action was initially filed on June 18, 2019 following Mayor Lumumba’s announcement that the City of Jackson would be taking legal action against Siemens. The City filed a motion to have the attorneys disqualified based on the Mississippi Rules of Professional Conduct.

According to court documents, Teeuwissen represented the City of Jackson in all aspects of the Performance Contracting Agreement with Siemens Industry, while Simon served as the City’s co-bond council to help facilitate the funding of the agreement, which initially cost the City of Jackson approximately $90M.

The order further bars Teeuwissen, Simon, and Graves from making any statements to the media, general public, or any new counsel for the plaintiffs about the Siemens Performance Contract Agreement with the City of Jackson or other related matters.

Kingfish note: Mr. Teeusissen has represented JJ in a public records lawsuit in Madison County.

An attorney with Mr. Teeuwissen's legal prowess should have seen this outcome. So what's his endgame? He definitely has something else up his sleeve.

Prowess?
teeuwissen is an idiot.

7:03a where's your proof? I'll wait.

He is an outstanding attorney in the area of governmental law. Outside of that I don’t know. But he was the smartest guy in the room at the COJ and also the county board.

The guy calling him an idiot likely got his ass handed to him by Pieter. There’s plenty of people that could be.

Get the name right. It's a complex name, but, get it right.

Teeuwissen and his partner obviously wanted this whole legal process to flounder and flop. They knew this would happen. It will come out in court that both screwed up while involved in the contract.

Well being DQ'ed is better that being KO'ed....

@7:31

the proof is the Court Order-

glad to see there is a judge out there who managed to get one right

@7:44 - the smartest guy in the room at the COJ or County board room? That ain't saying much. The county hasn't had a decent board atty since Ruma Haque died.

Was Simon & Teeuwissen, PLLC and Graves Legal Services, PLLC involved in the original set up of the Siemens deal?

Anonymous said...

They probably did it as a political favor to somebody. They ain’t dumb.

This outcome was obvious. What's not so obvious is phase two and three of this scenario. There is a plan. Stay tuned.

Anyone janking on Pieter is an idiot. Pieter is solid, smart and savvy. How I wish there were a dozen like him that could be spread around.

KF, I can't express how thankful I am to you for covering news like this. Quick question for anyone, I'm honestly confused and losing track of these lawsuits. I was under the impression that the City was suing Siemens. Obviously the City's the defendant here, which means Siemens struck first. Does this mean the city isn't suing Siemens or are there two cases going on right now?

So, the plantiff's attorneys got disqualified for having been involved in the original deal. Peiter for being the city attorney? OK. Granted he left the city shortly afterward because he knew how dirty this Harvey Johnson deal was, as a way to pay everybody off one last time while leaving office. But Andrew as "co-bond counsel"? Who was the city's attorney in this case?

OK. Answer here. None other than the one and only Sam Begley, who was the BOND COUNSEL that made hundreds of thousands of dollars out of this deal. Not co-counsel as Andrew was, actually being the counsel for the MS Development Authority. Begley who was arguing this case for the city was the guy that certified the bond deal as the city's counsel. When does he get his hand slapped as well, with the same sanctions?

Can't be too soon. Having three lawyers having to keep their mouths shut is a good thing, but adding another (who keeps his mouth in gear at all times, especially when he has had a little too much) is even better.

Something ... this way comes said...

@9:03 so a court order translates to being an idiot? Ohhhh thanks for the lesson. Lol

Yes it does Pieter-

to 10;01....smart, savvy?....he didn't look that back in 2007 when he got his ass handed to him on a platter in the babes strip bar litigation/injunction hearing before wingate. don't take my word for it , look it up. at that time hw as representing the corrupt melton administration. the bar should look into this type of conduct , but they are too busy trying to decide where to go to lunch.

You 9:00 are forgetting the facts of that case. Seriously, he was representing the city. He told Melton what could be done within the law. Funny that one setback in court and you're ready to call the Bar lol
What about the other wins and how he protected the city and county. The money that could have been paid out for frivolous lawsuits. You go look it up but do take my word.

to 10:06...you don't know much about the practice of law do you?

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
