Apparently Donna Ladd can't get over her obsession with Wilson Carroll. It's pretty obvious when she posts about him she has a special place in her heart for him, as her venom reaches a new level. What drives her to such histrionics? Probably it's because a few years ago she made a complete fool of herself.
Several of us around town have received emails from Madame DeLadd that are super-secret and off the record. I have one where she asks me to slant my coverage of the D.A.'s race towards Faye. Her emails always say "Off the record." Um, if I want something off the record I call the person and damn sure don't email him but that is just me.
Several years ago Wilson Carroll, the former candidate for D.A., joked on Mississippipolitics.com about how the JFP was one day going to "go down in flames." Most people would take such a comment to mean the JFP would one day fail and go out of business. However, some people take such descriptions literally or to be threatening, which she did.
She sent an email to Alan Lange, the owner of Mississippipolitics.com, with its usual disclaimers of "off the record", that was hysterical in talking about how her staff and their families didn't deserve such threats and how such jokes were "references to harm the JFP". She mentioned how crazies will read such things (with the inference being they will act on them). I'm not kidding. She even admits calling and yelling at him about this matter. She then spends a full page talking about how she doesn't care what people think about her. At the end there is a lecture on how he should responsibly monitor his website. She also says that she is sending a copy of her email and the alleged offenses to both Alan's and Wilson's wives. You got it, she decided she would interfere in their marriages. And she wonders why people dislike her so much. This email was 3 pages long and was one of several. As for Mr. Lange's response?
Let's just say it was perfect, short, and to the point.
By the way, here are the two posts that produced her histrionics:
"Johnny wrote:
Trolls, I don't know if there was any truth to the rumor, but didn't Donna
accuse someone, that is often posting on this site, of threatening to blow
up or burn down her office? January 9, 2006 08:05 AM
Greg wrote:
Johnny, That's true. I believe it was because someone suggested, in the context of
the JFP's abysmal record at picking political candidates, that they were
"going down in flames." You have to be careful what you say about the Fondrazon. You might be accused of threatening to drown her if you describe the JFP as being "up a
creek without a paddle," or of suffocating her if you say she's "in over her head," or of being a sophomoric egomaniacal neo-socialist busybody if you... well, you know."

Trollfest '09
Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.
Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).
Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.
Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".
In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.
In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.
Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production.

Trollfest '07
Jackson Jambalaya is the home of Trollfest '07. Catch this great event which promises to leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Sonjay Poontang and his band headline the night with a special steel cage, no time limit "loser must leave town" bout between Alan Lange and "Big Cat"Donna Ladd following afterwards. Kamikaze will perform his new song F*** Bush, he's still a _____. Did I mention there was no referee? Dr. Heddy Matthias and Lori Gregory will face off in the undercard dueling with dangling participles and other um, devices. Robbie Bell will perform Her two latest songs: My Best Friends are in the Media and Mama's, Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be George Bell. Sid Salter of The Clarion-Ledger will host "Pin the Tail on the Trial Lawyer", sponsored by State Farm.
There will be a hugging booth where in exchange for your young son, Frank Melton will give you a loooong hug. Trollfest will have a dunking booth where Muhammed the terrorist will curse you to Allah as you try to hit a target that will drop him into a vat of pig grease. However, in the true spirit of Separate But Equal, Don Imus and someone from NE Jackson will also sit in the dunking booth for an equal amount of time. Tom Head will give a reading for two hours on why he can't figure out who the hell he is. Cliff Cargill will give lessons with his .80 caliber desert eagle, using Frank Melton photos as targets. Tackleberry will be on hand for an autograph session. KIM Waaaaaade will be passing out free titles and deeds to crackhouses formerly owned by The Wood Street Players.

To me the most ironic thing is the ad for the Roller Derby girls on the same page, “…with part of the proceeds to benefit the JFP Chick Ball and the Domestic Violence Intervention Center, “
http://www.jacksonfreepress.com/index.php/events/entry/roller_derby_carnival/
Too bad Heather Spencer won’t be able to benefit from it.
go down in flames, and she took that literally??
Hey do you think if I told Ms Ladd to get thick skin she'd drive to Rainbow and get skin growing pills?
Ladd and Carroll, cats and dogs. I get that. But what is the connection between their longstanding dislike of each other and this election crap Carroll and his unnamed cohorts are perpetrating?
There is a certain level of vitriole reserved just for him. Although Wyatt is getting up there when all he has done is be a nice guy to people.
Are you saying that Ladd's reaction to the secrecy and tactics of the Better Jackson PAC is overkill?
I read the letter and it was so over dramatic on Ladd’s part. She’s such a hypocrite. Lange put her in her place.
I love the JFP! I always keep a copy or two in my bathroom in case I run out of TP.
I like to line the bottom of my kitchen garbage can with it. It absorbs all of the fat. And it's great for house-training a new puppy, because it actually attracts &@$% and pee! It's amazing how well it does that. Just read all of these comments. It really works!
The Jackson Free Press... They don't call it a "rag" for nothing! Keep up the cappy work!
Crappy! I meant crappy!
Not many people but political junkies here know who wilson is. She wouldve been better off keeping attention on it as a pro-crisler mailer.
I promise I am not trolling or trying to be redundant BUT...Can anyone please tell me why people pay attention to Donna Ladd?
That's a very good question, Anon 8:12. Why do I care about what Donna Ladd says?
I don't like someone who leaves MS swearing never to return coming back in their later and wiser years on a mission to educate us poor backward folks on what's wrong with MS and how it needs to be fixed. That's how Ray Mabus lost his re-election bid, and it's one reason why Donna Ladd draws so much criticism.
OThers have to do with her constant trumpeting on her own exalted opinion of herself and on her constant need to define herself as the toughest reporter on the beat when she won't touch truly controversial stories anymore herself--she lets Adam, Ronni, or Ward do them.
Others include her exploitation of people and issues for her own benefit--from her use of Frank Melton to publish on the national scene to writers and interns so desperate to get into print that they let her use their work without pay.
I could go on, but those are the highlights.
Anyone who knows knows that Schizo and Jane have alot of creds in Jacktown. Just sayin'. :-o
I just don't get it.
It is so amusing seeing how DONNA LADD intimidates these mental midgets.
9:23, I don't know anyone who is intimidated. I just read people taking her seriously, which is beyond my comprehension.
It is like taking Rush or Michael Moore seriously. Why?
I think she is ridiculous and can never admit when she is wrong. I avoid the JFP like the swine flu.
Obviously Donna Ladd is very important to y'all or you wouldn't be obsessively blogging about her all the time. If somebody who wasn't from Jackson read this blog, they'd have to conclude she was either mayor or Pope.
or so in love with herself that she just has to defend the posts on this site as 'Anonymous said...'
Michael, to clear it up, I wrote
8:12, 8:48, and 10:17.
Is there a purpose for this post and comments?
Donna Ladd does not intimidate me. She and I disagree on a great many things, and I think various outlets staying on her case keeps her from overreaching as much as she did when she first came into town. Just like King needs to apologize when he gets it wrong, she needs to be called to account on what goes on in her publication.
Intimidated? Nope. I'm just disgusted. I was disgusted when her rag referred to Mississippi as the "Mexico of the USA", trashed Leah Rupp on several occasions because she was jealous, tried to smear Marshall Ramsey with the dreaded P word, the way she trashes Wyatt Emmerich when all he has ever done is be nice to every one around him. Wyatt will publish any column as long as its well written and not inflammatory, slanderous, etc. He will publish something by Hanchey and is Lambumba or whatever his name of the week is submitted one well-written, he would publish it as well. Its called he believes in free speech, not just publishing only those that share his opinion. He one time published a column by me slamming Swan Yerger, generated no less than twelve angry letters and he caught heat for it, didn't matter, he backed me up. But to her, he is a klukker. Then there is Miki Dickoff, award winning film producer and one of the loveliest people I've ever met who earned a screaming fit from Ladd because she dared to produce a film about Neshoba. Then there is Ladd's obsession with Sarah Palin. More than 15 posts in a row about Palin. Anyway, no intimidation, just sick of it.
I made this post because outside of a few people or political junkies, not many people are going to know who the hell Wilson carroll is. I keep up with this stuff and all I know about the guy is he ran for DA against Faye and is a lawyer. Thats about it. If she was trying to help Harvey, she's better off going after the PAC and how its Pro-Crisler instead of getting hung up on Wilson Carroll. I'm guessing it is so just so he could burn her up a little and she had some proof. There is a history of animosity between those two and I thought it was relevant to bring it up. He once dated one of her friends for a while a loooooooooong time ago, it didn't work out, and I imagine it has something to do with it. Its clear she hates the guy and I thought i would give you guys some of the reasons why.
Projack covered the flyer on this site and didn't get into all the Carrol bashing, he just pointed out the PAC, the flyer's claims, and made it look like the trash it was. What Ladd failed to realize is no one really pays attention to these mailers. I get them, they go in the trash without even reading them. Instead, she relished the excuse to go after Wilson Carrol.
I'm glad we got that all straightened out. Any more questions on why Ladd ain't popular in certain circles? I think KF addressed it eloquently, if not so succinctly.
I keep up with this stuff and all I know about the guy is he ran for DA against Faye and is a lawyer. Thats about it.
Not disputing anything you wrote but this. Wilson's back room political dirty tricks and readiness to use any means necessary to achieve election ends runs a might wee bit deeper than the white wash these two sentences works to paint. You need to learn more about him and how he plays the game. He isn't some boy scout nor, to his credit, does he pretend to be.
Not disputing what you said. Its just that it means nothing to 90 percent or more of the people who read it
Funny that two guys from Greenwood could get on Ms.Ladd's bad side.
I am a part of the Better Jackson PAC. There is nothing secretive about it. I will have a column in this week's Northside Sun commenting on this non-event that has the JFP so exercised.
There goes my respect for you Sanders. Always thought of you as better than that. Spin it any way you wish. I don't give a damn. Asshole.
Flyers like this come out all the time in races. I may not like them, but I fail to see why the sky should be about to fall out over them.
When it comes to shrieking idiots at the JFP, you could line them up and march them four abreast into the sea forever.
I know of what I speak.
That flyer is a whole lot better than the trash the Harvey campaign has on the streets. Geez. Trash!
Email the flyers to me. I'm going to publish them Wed. I have a couple already.
David, email me the column and I'll run it on here. I think Mr. Emmerich will let me do it since I appear on his editorial page sometimes. It would be nice to have it out before the election.
Why wait until Wednesday?
Because I don't want to take something sleazy and spread it around.
am still thinking about it but I'm leaning towards waiting until after the election.
Expose the sleazeballs after the fact? How does that help?
Because that is what they want, to spread the message far and wide. I'm not going to help them in that end.
Am I right in thinking that if you were going to support a candidate like you did with Robert Johnson you'd write an endorsement here on your website?
Is someone impersonating you on Othor Cain's website?
If you read Tony Geiger's numerous posts you'll get it.
Wyatt is a jealous master. (Oops, I didn't mean "master" in the sense HJ uses it.) He wants it to premier in the Sun
Emmerich zealously protects his first run Klukker columns. He's got quite the lineup over there.
David: Just got permission from da man if you want to send me an abridged version to me. I just thought if I could put it up here. Plus if it goes up here, someone over in Fondren will not use it as an excuse to attack you guys even more as she will not acknowledge my existence.
So are you calling me a klukker, 12:16?
He prints pretty much everyone's column if its decently written. A radical black muslim could get a column printed there as long as it was well-written and not slanderous.
Now as for hanchey, look up his myspace some time.
Not you KF. The other Klukkers. Plural. Sanders included.
Wow. Sign off for thirty minutes and see the thread light up. You've got a tiger by the tail here, King. Keep it up.
Klukkers need love, too.
David Sanders said...

Where's the column Sanders?
I sent it to Kingfish. I don't know what he plans to do with it.
I've got it. I'm going to put up an abridged copy of it tomorrow. Already made a bunch of posts for today and this isn't THAT earth-shaking.
