Jackson Ward 3 Councilman Kenneth I. Stokes announced he will not run for Mayor.
The qualifying deadline is February 1. Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba has not yet qualified although State Senator John Horhn and other candidates have done so.

Waiting on those campaign finance reports Antard.
Though Stokes has acquired wisdom he is of an age when all he "runs for" is the WC.
Only Horhn would be drunk enough to run for mayor
Indeed, WAPT 16 says Lamumba skipped 5 years, though that may be cumulatively, not consecutively, because KF reported on his 2021 report. If his other years contain evidence of laundering "contributions", he won't run again.
Does Chowke really want to disclose those campaign contributions? He knows he is going to have to file those campaign finance reports. And when he eventually does that, the fun will begin. Somebody better be telling him just how precarious his situation is. Anything you say, Chowke, can be used against you in a court of law.
Tell us who gave you those checks, Chowke. Tell us what you spent the proceeds on, Chowke. We know it wasn't dance lessons.
At least Kenny understands that Jackson, Mississippi is "NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN".
The Feds already have the records from lil chok’s campaign bank account records. The account’s activity better match up with his campaign reports… All those cashed checks! Uh oh.
Even if he's not running for mayor, we all need a STOKES trucker hat. Cause Jackson smells like raw boo-boo.
https://customplanet.com/designs/39-165/Kenneth-I.-Stokes/577388. Have at.
Stokes had said that he wanted to talk to his family about the election. He was fine either way. But if his kids did not want him to run for mayor, he would not do it. I thought that was a great way to do it.
EXACTLY. By this time, the FBI has subpoenad and has ALL all of his financial records. Trust me.
552, glad you fell for that typical political line; just as many folks have fallenfor the concept that "Stokes is the only one that is speaking the truth".
Yes, Stokes has been speaking out, and just as he has for his entire political life, doing so in front of cameras and microphones, saying things that the average citizen loves: "raw boo-boo running down the streets, Lumumba been smoking too much of that dope, etc" and thinking that therefore Stokes would make a good Mayor.
Not true. Stokes is a good Councilperson, but he really didn't like and wasn't effective during the term he spent on the HC Board of Supervisors -- which is an executive position, not a legislative position. Imagine Stokes actually having to run the city! Be in charge of making sure stuff happens. Granted, Baby Chock isn't doing that today, but comparing against a failure isn't the measure we should be looking at as a measurement.
Stokes was never really considering running; and just like any politician he used a reference to 'his family' as a drop to keep the conversation open until he finally revealed his intent. Do you really think that he talked to his kids and his kids advised him no? If so, I truly hope you are not one of the regular voters, as you get sold awfully easily by a career politico.
So why did Stokes ask the Mayor to take a leave of absence but not councilman Banks? Aren’t they facing the same type charges?
@11:30pm
Good question but Banks less of a threat to Jackson than Mayor "Choke the River with Turds and Pay Me" Lumumba.
... he really didn't like and wasn't effective during the term he spent on the HC Board of Supervisors -- which is an executive position, not a legislative position.
WHAT? LMAO
How fast has Jackson sunk under Lumumba? Ten years ago most people thought Stokes was a nut-job. Now Stokes is considered the voice of reason.
I told this to a guy in Nashville who left Jackson 15 years ago. He was laughing about "Crazy Kenny." I told him Kenny is the voice of reason and he thought I was joking. He was genuinely surprised when I said I was serious.
good grief, 10:24, dont like Stokes much, huh. Or did Rudia make an appearance.
