The Good Book says we are to be a light to the world. The late Dr. Frank Pollard preached some Christians are a beacon while others are just fireflies, lighting up whenever it suits them. However, what is light? The New Testament mentions "light" 73 times but what does being a light mean? Dr. Pollard answers that question in the 1997 sermon posted below. Enjoy.
Scripture: Matthew 5:15-16
(NIV) 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
(KJV) 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Frank's heirs should sell these tapes to the world.
I'm a firefly most of the time, plus I cannot - will not listen to Bible verses lectured in a prophetic redneck accent. Pollard was a very polished speaker, however, and I thank KF for referencing his wisdom.
