Isnt that Stokes' street? Wonder what his presser will be like...
I know we're all counting. Sadly, it occurs to me this morning that there's a double handful of you/us who hope the second victim succumbs to increase the number. These are bad times, especially when all we can do is run the numbers and nothing else. Just run the numbers for 28 more days, shuffle the deck and begin the deal again.
Call in the FBI, ATF, CIA and the National Guard. It will have little effect on reducing homicides. This is a situation that cannot be addressed by the usual law enforcement resources/efforts or other government programs.
In any city, nothing much good happens near a MLK nor ME Blvd. It's a fact.
#122. Way to go Jackson. You are meeting your goals. This wouldn't have happened if Mayor Chocolate Lumber had activated that real-time crime center much earlier and had more cocoa with the po-po events.
“Perception” of crime...
Love is a wonderful thing ain't it?
domestic situation. drugs. rival gangs.
total disregard for human life, no respect for others, and obsession with money and power.
122 and counting.
this is the lumumba legacy.
This is what is means to be the most radical city on the planet.
At some point, even the progressives with their low regard for law enforcement and high tolerance for criminal behavior will have to admit it's a failure.
Domestic violence cases account for a large amount of the murders in Jackson. Blaming the mayor or cops for these is senseless. Somebody offer a solution that will address these domestic murders. There really isn't one.
For about 12 years, Mississippi had a state law mandate that an arrest must be made at any domestic crime call. That meant at least one of the two partners, and maybe both, will spend a night in jail, which provided a cooling off period and thus less murders. This was working well until the MS Sheriffs Assn got it repealed. Something like this as a city ordinance in Jackson might work well.
The only way to reduce homicides on or near a street named MLK is for Chokwe to have the council do a name change of a street in his neighborhood in NE Jackson. Just swap the names out and watch the numbers change.
What's love got to do with it?
The saying I love to hear is, "If I can't have you nobody will". Sarcasm, for those needing help with this.
I can't help but wonder how high the murder rate would be had that state flag not been changed.
In my best Boomhauer voice:
" Danged ole flag . . . I need a beer Confederate Texas flag Nascar Bob Landry ever thang went down hill after Dale Earnhardt Dallas cowboys...danged ole flag".
@10:40 there is still a mandatory arrest law for law enforcement if evidence of physical domestic violence has occurred. Officers have 24 hours to make a warrantless arrest if suspect is no longer on scene. People do not realize how many domestic related calls cops respond to on a daily basis, but it’s unrealistic to arrest someone on every domestic “call” officers respond to. Many are just simple arguments that spouses or significant others have and the police are called to settle it. There has to be some evidence of a physical altercation. It’s a misdemeanor arrest cops can make that did not have to occur in their presence if evidence is there. It’s mandatory by law for the officer to make the arrest.
