Pizza Driver Robbed & Beaten

A Twitter video shows a Domino's Driver  recovering from a robbery and assault last night in Jackson.

The attack apparently took place around the Robinson Road Extension.  The victim messaged Mr. Holt:

If anyone wants to help Mr. Jacobs, here is his cash app.

A Ridgeland Domino's recently stopped serving the Colony Crossing apartment complex in Jackson after dark, claiming it was too dangerous.

Oddly enough, JPD tweeted the following statement this morning about a SEPARATE CRIME:

JPD is investigating a shooting that occurred at an apt. complex in the 5800 block of Ridgewood Rd. just after 11pm. A male suffered a wound to the back by an unknown male who later fled in an older light-colored sedan. Victim was transported and later succumbed to his injury.

Does anyone want to guess what is at 5800 Ridgewood Road?

Does anyone want to guess what is at 5800 Ridgewood Road?

I'm guessing it isn't a diverse group of future doctors and engineers.

Possibly future Rhodes scholars? Future Nobel Prize laureates?

More perceived crime for mayor jackwagon to blab about.

How is that latest "anti-crime initiative" working out, dip ship?

More white flight in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1....

Notice how Dee Holt does not say "Let's get the criminals"

He says " The worker should be compensated in full"

This is the mentality of jackpot justice and the results of all the lawyer signs in town.

What should have happened is Mr. Jacobs should have been armed and killed the attacker(s).

The Colony Crossings apartment complex is the 5800 block start at $675 and go up to $1375.

But, didn't this take place on Robinson Rd ext.? And, isn't the No 1 Chinese Buffet on Terry Rd.

Someone correct me if wrong, but food delivery people are usually self-employed 1099 workers, not employees of the food company.

Let's hope that Domino's rises to the occasion.

Lock and load, Jacksonians, lock and load.

Given the costs of apartments these days and the costs of tuition, there may well be future Rhodes scholars and Nobel laureates living in any non-section 8 apartment complexes anywhere including Crossings and on Robinson Rd ext.

Being armed does no good 11:55am if your gun is holstered when you are surprised by an attacker. You can only shoot them if conscious and capable after the assault. Maybe he could have seen him coming and hoped the attacker didn't have a gun, that he was faster on the draw and his shots were accurate and didn't go through and apartment wall and hit a child.

I'm at a loss as to why ambulance was needed as the gentleman appears ambulatory. Couldn't two people be found to drive him in his car and follow in another? And, it appears that Domino's will cover the costs as a matter of policy and no lawyers would be able to get more compensation.

If not for social media, this would not have made the news at all in times past.

Perhaps, all food deliveries should take place before dark or never past 9 pm but surely the same commenters above support capitalism as well and that's lots of revenue lost if all apartments were off limits after dark.

Crime happens. Crime happens most often in poor or commercial areas and after dark. So it is and has always been. Over reactors( aka " snowflakes") who have zero ability to figure out that " bad things happen in life" and you can be at the "wrong place at the wrong time" get all emotional. Bad people ( political loyalists ,political extremists and foreign agents) will forever try to use fear to further their agendas .

Life isn't fair or without risks. Being smart and well informed is your best defense.

We are a Nation constantly emoting!

Now does anyone want to guess why the Ridgeland pizza store stopped delivery in Jackson?

I moved in the last year to a city out of state where the other day the two employees checking me out at Sam's were discussing with each other how they could do their job better and give faster customer service at the checkout.

Only miss my family and friends.

It looks like 12:32 has it all figured out. What's missing from this analysis if the fact that Jackson, along with Memphis, St. Louis, and Detroit, is not only among the most dangerous cities in the U.S., but in the world.

Most of the discussion (which 12:32 and others derisively label "snowflake") comes from the Jackson leadership, i.e., elected officials, governing administration, and professional thinkers at local institutes of higher learning, who try to talk it away, figure it out, and convince everyone it ain't so. On the other side are real people, who live real lives, that are affected in real ways by real crime.

Does anyone know the current Jackson body count?

Want to get all delivery will stop at 8pm Or if they deliver at all any more

@12:32 PM is obviously an expert in all things medical and criminal. It's amazing that he can evaluate a potential trauma victim from a blog, combined with providing the most effective methods of defense for a life threatening attack. I am very impressed.

Elect @12:32 PM for the position of Jackson high commissioner of public safety, with four collar stars authorized.

10-99 employee or not, Dominos workers comp policy will cover his medical bills, etc. Just because someone is a 10-99 employee doesn’t exempt someone for suing you for damages. I can’t tell you how many homebuilders think they can skate on this because their 10-99 subcontractor “isn’t my employee”. If they show up and you tell them what to do and where, you are responsible. Like a home builder who says “I dont have any employees”(knowing full well they aren’t capable of building themselves), those pizzas aren’t being made and delivered by themselves.

1:29 pm I'm sorry that details are so irrelevant to you and others who compare cities using basic crime data and forego bothering with the details.

Here's a hint: Murders occurring where the victim is not known to the assailant or murders of innocent bystanders, and murders by sexual predators or kidnappers are not the same when it comes to risks for a law abiding citizen of middle to upper income humans as murders by a spouse or family member or friend or neighbor during arguments or disputes. When the victim knows their murderer, chances are good they are the poor and working poor.

You are trying to find stats to support your attitude rather than to learn anything about crime and how to avoid it.

You're wrong, 3:50. Workers' Compensation does not cover contract employees in Mississippi. First of all, there is no such thing as a 10-99 employee. The two are mutually exclusive. You're either a contract worker or an employee of the company. The two do not overlap.

Secondly, Worker's Comp in this state is the sole remedy for on the job injuries for EMPLOYEES (except in unusual circumstances where the employer might be liable, for example, for neglect of safety or obvious ignoring OSHA regulations. An employee does not 'sue' for comp coverage. It's rather automatic.

Turn your cap around and join the rest of your third shift employees out on the patio.

4:22, you pretty much made my point by explaining away the fact that Jackson is a dangerous city, like it isn't real. But hey, you keep up the high-minded, armchair analysis, and continue talking down to those of us who live in reality. We'll continue to call BS on the discussion of "perception of crime" in Jackson.

FYI, I've already learned how to avoid crime in Jackson (after having been robbed at gunpoint in a parking lot). I moved out and I stay out, if at all possible. If I must enter Jackson, I bring my pistol, take care of whatever professional business I have there, and I leave.

Something about all of this sounds VERY suspicious - a year-old car with notable preexisting body damage and a hood that won't close, a guy that certainly doesn't appear to need an ambulance but gets carted off in one, some sort of "collection" on his behalf, etc., and all of it fired up by some random, un-involved guy at who happened upon the guy in the kitchen of the random Chinese buffet the supposed victim went to call for help.

I have no idea if this is legit or not, but I cannot help thinking of the couple and the allegedly homeless guy who all recently got sentenced for the scam they cooked up.

This kind of shit escalates every year between Thanksgiving and Christmas. That's 'the most wonderful time of the year' when thugs and ne'er-do-wells get all agitated over the fact that they ain't got no money for 'yo mama' and 'baby mama' and they'll do anything to get ahold of whatever money the rest of us have.

Regarding the pizza connection, the only answer is to have somebody riding shot-gun. But that would double the price of anchovies.

@9:58 PM - do you really think he would knock out his own teeth to run a scam?

@9:58, I’m with you. It’s always a few bad apples who ruin it for everyone else. I’m having trust issues.

If you are so fearful and traumatized by crime in a city, it's fine for me for you to leave and live somewhere else.
Some of us have lived in cities all our lives and so have our families. We understand the risks and benefits. We have all survived and those who are deceased lived a long and prosperous life.
Last, I checked, we have still have the right to make that decision.
Why don't the rest of you tend to your own business? But, no, you need to desperately to criticize everybody else because you aren't happy with yourself.
You want to make it harder for those in Jackson to make improvements in OUR community so you can pat yourself on the back. And, you are so limited that you don't get that the demise of a State's capitol city ( which you want to speed along) will be a bad outcome for the entire State.

If you are so scared, especially of African Americans, you'd better move West and learn to hate Indians.

Thanks, 9:44. If my math is accurate, that means Jackson is on track for around 51.5 murders per 100,000 in 2019, which puts it in the "top" five murder capitals of the U.S., along with St. Louis, Baltimore, Detroit, and Memphis.

To 10.02, it isn't black people in general that I'm afraid of. It's the murderers that scare me. If I really wanted Jackson to fail, I wouldn't even care.

Joey Joseph, you are a brave young man. I am so sorry this happened to you as you seem to be a hard working young man just trying to make a living for college & bills. God has a purpose for your life and never doubt this. Know that you have God’s army on your side. We love you and pray for healing!.

Domino's drivers are regular hourly employees. I delivered in other states when I was a young one. In fact, the store I worked for was owned by RPM Pizza too. Employees are not allowed to have weapons at work

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
