We report, you decide.

Johnny Dupree won re-election yesterday.  We've had alot of fun with that entire debacle on this website BUT here is a little statement that escaped my memory banks:

The reports from the previous election are troubling, to say the very least," Hosemann said in a news release. "We are going to have an election conducted by the election commissioners, not a circus. While we are not the election police, we will be watching in every precinct. Any voting irregularities observed by our staff will be immediately forwarded to the Attorney General and the local District Attorney." Article

Crooked administration in Hattiesburg. Crooked election process. Broken courts system. Threatened jurors. Enter Sec. Of State and Att. Gen. Even they can't fix stupid. or crooked. ballot box box shows up without seal and required signatures. Over four hours late. 1.2 miles from the city hall. Election commissioners who were newly appointed because the last ones were corrupt. They were a mixture of stupid and scared by the corrupt culture. Ware decided to accept the count. Now, crooked man mayor supporters call out media and others for telling the facts. Kenneth Fairley has stolen so much money from so many people through the years. Still can't keep his church from legal collections and can't insure it from tornadoes. He needs the mayor coattails to keep the corrupt money coming in. He is directly responsible for keeping many a black family in Hattiesburg from being who they can be. Not a minister or pastor by definition. Will bust hell wide open.

Somebody call a doctor fast. 10:14 needs help! Or is he/she just a whiny, sour grapes baby whose candidate has gotten his tail beat twice now and to his credit, has decided to let the voters choose their Mayor, not the courts, declaring that he won't file another lawsuit.

Mr. Ware lost an election(again) teaming with federal and state law enforcement observers because he got less votes than Mayor Dupree and for no other reason. Mr. Ware has accepted that like a man and congratulated the Mayor of Hattiesburg. 10:14 should man up and do the same.

Last I knew, Kenneth Fairley worked for Phelps Dunbar. Is he now a black preacher in Hattiesburg?

Time to write Hattiesburg off. It's in the same catagory as Jackson now.

If you watched the ESPN "30 for 30" documentary on Marcus Dupree, you saw "reverend" Fairley. Ask Marcus Dupree what he thinks of Fairley. Ask Louis Lipps.

Johnny DuPree is the mayor of Hattiesburg in name only. Fairley and county supervisor Rod Woullard (Ole Miss fans may remember his brother Reg who played for the Rebels in the 1970s) are the ones calling the shots in the Hub City.

If they can ever get a black majority on the city council, Hattiesburg will be little Jackson for sure.

Look at this video from the steps of the Hattiesburg city hall and tell me this group wants to move the city forward. First up, Rod Woullard, followed by Kenneth Fairley, and last but not least, Deborah Denard Delgado, who is on the Hattiesburg city council and who was allowed by the mayor to run up an unpaid city water bill of over $900. Do you think other black citizens have been allowed to do that?

Dupree's reputation will always be one associated with electoral fraud and corruption.

Amen along with his sidekick Eddie Myers!!!!! Corrupt and dangerous!!

You're right, 1:37. If this bunch is in power, then all is lost. Pity the voters who dug the city's grave by electing these creatures can't be forced to STAY, as the city crumbles. Unfortunately, a great many of them will leave, to go help destroy some new place.

And I have to wonder how many white female students helped create this mess. You know, I'd gladly give up my right to vote, if it meant stopping other women from voting with their "hearts" (actually, they're voting with their narcissistic little Goody Two Shoes, or simply being spiteful little troublemakers).

Hattiesburg is a college town- small business will thrive no matter what. Jackson, while having colleges, is not a college town- its a government/medical center. Its comparing apples to oranges..

Right, 3:07. In fact, Johnny DuPree made the following statement on the subject of voter ID in July 2011 at the gubernatorial debate held at the MC School of Law:

“If you want to stop voter fraud, it’s not somebody having ID. It’s from people buying votes. It’s from absentee ballots. That’s where the fraud is. It’s not from somebody showing their ID.”

Buying votes and casting fraudulent absentee ballots.

If you think Canton is bad...

The deal in Canton is both sides are buying votes!!!

Expect Councilman Dave Ware to hold Mayor Dupree and Bennie Sellers responsible for the Eaton School Fiasco. Why did the MDAH sanction the awarding of the $86,000 historic roofing contract to a Crawford, Mississippi "storm-chasing" roofing contractor, who just so happens to live next door to the sister of former USM Basketball superstar Clarence Witherspoon. Johnny Miller Roofing Co. has NO experience in historic restoration and had MDAH done the proper vetting process, he would have been eliminated from consideration. Johnny Miller's icompetence, along with the local architect's own shoddy work, caused the historic structure to be targeted for demolition. Both Miller and the architect were still paid in full. You can bet that Ware will find out why the bonding company was not liable for the faulty work of Johnny Miller Roofing Co. Could it be that someone waivered the bond requirement?

Hattiesburg will be fine but its not thriving, especially compared to Oxford & Starkville. Hattiesburg is not growing- all the growth is in Petal/ Lamar county/ etc. For reasons far removed from the mayor, the city should be OK but it's not near as strong as it should or could be.

With the exception of The Square in Oxford, both Oxford and Starkville look like rural America with a Wal Mart. With a comparatively small university, Hattiesburg has four or five times the motels as do either of those other towns. Neither town has a busy street to rival Hardy in Hattiesburg. Hattiesburg is bustling with eateries that, unlike Starkville and Oxford, do not entirely depend on football traffic. Starkville and Oxford are traffic nightmares. Although 49 through Hattiesburg can be busy busy at times, it has a nice alternate bypass and superior traffic flow to New Orleans, the Gulf Coast and Mobile.

I don't see the negatives, other than Dupree.

Hattiesburg has done a nice job in bringing back to life some great old buildings downtown.

The Hattiesburg Public School District is a mess. The high school received a D on the recently released accountability report. Hattiesburg would be a great candidate for a charter school.

Private and parochial schools are thriving in Hattiesburg, though. Just like in Jackson.

The quality public schools are in Lamar County and in Petal. So are the middle-class voters who would have voted for Dave Ware had they lived in Hattiesburg.

The shameful thing is that the mayor was elected by 20% of the people old enough to vote. Our cities, states and country are going to crumble if people don't start caring about who we elect to lead us.

3:53, what a sexist, racist comment. So a white female should be barred from voting for a black, male candidate? Really? Really? And I guess you are implying that narcissistic, white females made the difference in the election? I am stunned by your observations in the year of our Lord 2013. WOW.

It's been forty years since 'public schools' was a measuring stick for community viability. With few exceptions, it's pretty much a given that every city in this state either does have or soon will have a failed public school system. Cities will crumble or flourish in spite of that fact.

Lamar County, Columbia and Petal will always be sucking at the tit of Hattiesburg, regardless of their thoughts of superiority. If Hattiesburg folded tomorrow, those burgs would be tumbleweed ghost towns within three years.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
