This is only a perception of crime. Right?
Cruise along Pine Tree Drive using Google Street View. Most of it doesn't have a habitable dwelling. Burnt-out houses, houses with no windows, windows boarded, overgrowth abounding. It's astounding to see. What kind of folk choose to live like this?
You spoke and they listened. #58.
Where are you, Sharpton and Crump?
Surely # 58 is Damon, not Demon.
Tracking above last year's run rate but still far below the blood-running-everywhere years of the worst mayor in Jackson's history, bar none, Antard Lumumba.
It's only the perception of urban decay amiright?
Definitely a place you'd rather visit on a screen rather than in person.
Pine Lawn Place is possibly one of the ratchet boulevards you will ever see.
Please don't call me surely.
but i thought that things were just supposed to magically get better under Hohrn's "leadership"
Antard Lumumba was the spawn of the devil. Hohrn is the devil manager.
I blame the hotter than average summer.
Jackson had 28 days at or above 90°F in August, compared with a normal of about 23 days.
August ranked as the 14th-warmest August in Jackson's 131-year record. Hattiesburg was even warmer, averaging 85.2°F, ranking 3rd-warmest there.
Dr. Chief's initiatives will kick in any day now. Probably need a few more balloon releases and town hall meetings; maybe some group hugs and a grant funded study or two.
where's Wlbt homcide tracker?
@12:17
Things were going to improve under hohrn but he made a costly mistake by announcing phD as our new police chief. He lost me on that! Good luck John. He really screwed the pooch on that
Hey, as long as Mayor, department heads and the vast majority of all employees are of a specific race, please don’t ask questions or demand any improvements.
Just blame “racism” and “white flight”.
Hohrn is trying to find out if PERS will allow him return to legislative duties at 80% of the pay while working this mayoral gig. That would give him a four-high-years bump for sure.
He misses the perceived relevance.
Would one of you Small Batch of nerdile trolls please set a new standard of grumping by urging your cohort to fucking stop with references to the 20=year-old phrase "perception of crime"?
2:12 PM the “white flight” was required for Democrats to get and control cities like Jackson, MS forever. Then Mayor Kane Ditto saw to this with the hiring of Washington DC Deputy Chief Jimmy Wilson. Democrats were so giddy and excited about yet another city being taken over by Black Democrats, The Washington Post wrote about it.
Democrats use soft on violent crime revolving door catch and release policies to make sure enough people that don’t vote democrat stay away, insuring their control forever.
The thing is that’s there’s a large generation of folks in Jackson that can’t act right, there’s no way that a mayor or law enforcement can fix it, they either have to kill themselves off or get too old and tired to cause a fuss
It’s not “20 years old.” Chowke used it many times within the last five years.

11:47 so true. While it is still awful to have even one murder, we are still gonna end the year at half of the all time highs a few short years ago.
12:36PM bingo! Let it be cold and rainy again please! Didn’t we go all of January with like 1 homicide?
There has been a 29% increase in homicides in Jackson since the good "doctor" took over the JPD. A few more town hall meetings and group hugs should reduce this.
That's it. Blame murders on global warming/climate change.
True dat.
I grew up in Jackson in the 50's and 60's. The weather was just as hot then plus we had no air conditioning. I remember hearing of a few murders through the years but nothing like today. It's not the weather's fault...it's a couple of generations being raised with no moral values.
WLBT tracker has been updated to 62 homicides so for in 2026.
5:06, Even so, Jackson will still continue to lead the nation in per-capita homicides, as it has for the last several years in a row.
Some balloons releases would help.
Unfortunately, those people have lots of children they do not raise meaning that Jackson will always have a large population of ferals rendering the city uninhabitable. We need a huge influx of civilized humans to counterbalance the ferals.
