Be on the lookout for a red Ford Explorer cruising around Northeast Jackson. A vigilant citizen posted on local social media:
Three males were attempting to steal an outdoor AC unit on Wilhurst. I heard the cut lines hissing and walked in the backyard. when they saw me they ran. As they left they picked up a fourth male who was casing the house across the street. They fled north on Ridgewood in a red Explorer. License plate HNS7841 I have reported this information to the police.
The suspects are black males.

Stealing AC units from people's houses they're at home. Damn, that's pretty brazen.
Car will be stolen
Ya know, sometimes things occur to me that just seem simple on their faces: Do you have any idea how LITTLE work you'd have to do to make the same amount of money you'd get from tearing out and scrapping a residential condensing unit? Not to mentio0n that you could do it without the possibility of either getting shot or going to jail (whether or not you'd be back on the street in a matter of hours is irrelevant)
There just appears to be a culture in America that prefers to act illegally! I don't know, maybe they can't help it. Maybe one day scientists will isolate a stealing gene.....
Start slinging lead....
I live in NE Jackson and I have several rental houses in Ridgeland near school st and off lake harbour... one of my rental houses had the A/C unit stolen and they did it early in the am... Ridgeland police officer was very professional and said they're seeing more of this!!! I can't imagine why people would want to take it.
NE Jackson alert: Get out of Jackson.
7:29 PM So, killing someone who steals is punishable by death?
I agree with 7:25. Some people just have criminal minds, plain and simple. I think the answer to those with criminal minds is equally simple: they can either change their minds or be removed from society, not necessarily in that order.
I tell you what. Stealing an A/C in a Mississippi Summer should be punishable like a horse thief back in the Oklahoma Territory.
Worst of all they released Freon into the atmosphere poisoning a third of all mankind for a decade. Oh!, the children!
@7:25, if they get a legitimate job then (a) the tax man takes a cut, and (b) they’ll earn themselves out of gubmint benefits (i.e. the wealth transfer from you and me to them). Legit jobs that pay cash are too much work. Better to take the cheese, steal, and deal. This is even more true with the chorus of people downplaying the seriousness of property crimes in today’s society.
Perhaps I’m being a bit dimwitted, but...what, exactly, does one DO with an outdoor AC unit, once it is stolen? Install it at one’s own house? But that would require some basic electronic skills, and—oh, call me a racist, because I sort of am, I suppose—I just don’t think your average thug would know beans about hooking up anything and getting it to run properly. If he did, maybe he could (call me a dreamer!) GET A JOB, maybe?
I know, I know. Crazy talk.
They probably just couldn't find enough change to hoard so they were trying to get something to smelt down to make...well, neither they nor I have any idea what they'd do with it, but by golly, one cannot have enough home-smelted metallic shit or toilet paper! I suspect if they keep it up, they'll at least collect a few hundred grains of lead. Jesus, why are some people so determined to wind up as "the deceased" in some sort of official report?
@7:25, I wouldn't be surprised if these folks already have a criminal record. Because of our society's horribly un-forgiving system that bars most people with a criminal record from ever obtaining meaningful, above-table employment anywhere, folks who were once criminals find themselves stuck doing this kind of work. People with criminal records have to eat just like the rest of us. I'm sure they'd get above-table jobs if (1) there were any and (2) they were hiring ex-cons.
I left Jackson a year ago and moved to Madison. If I still lived in Jackson, I would go buy a realistic looking plastic snake and lay it around my air conditioner unit.
We're they wearing masks?
Vehicle is a 2003 Expedition not explorer. VIN is 1FMFU15LX3LC46172.
@11:27 PM
They were each wearing mask of Presidents Nixon, Ford, Carter, and Reagan. Which is why nobody has been able to determine any other physical description besides "male"
I found out last year that because of Freon laws, many older AC units are unserviceable because older Freon is no longer made. Not only did these idiots release Freon, but if it were an older unit, it’s worth nothing but scrap.
@5:42
It was LBJ not Ford.
For people who steal instead of working, it's not the actual work that they have problems with. They have problems: Showing up to work, showing up on time to work, accepting the authority of their boss, getting along with coworkers, obeying rules of the job, and all the other items ancillary to actually doing the work. Basically, they can work -- they just don't want to be responsible to work. They get fired over and over for being dumb.
@mouse - there are actually some freon substitutes that can be used in older a/c units, such as R407c and R422d
According to what I'm told at metal reclaiming shops, none of these businesses would take the scrap from street thugs anyway. But, maybe they lied to me.
And even if they could unload it, what's $23 compared to twenty three years. I forgot to factor in 'the blessing'.
@8:22. Guess it could be rationalized for an A/C Unit. Not sure it would go over well in court, but what the hell. Exodus 21:16
“Whoever steals a man and sells him, and anyone found in possession of him, shall be put to death.
Freon release into the atmosphere is worse than Covid? Say it ain't so Joe, say it ain't so. Anybody got Anthony's number, we gotta check this out quickly.
Not that it is justified, but Christmas season is closer than you think.
Listen up people. The Coronavirus is in the A/C, so turn it off. You people are stewing yourselves in the Coronavirus. Go ride a bile or ATV outside in the sunshine in a field. Or sit in a rocking chair or swing on your back porch and take deep breaths of fresh Mississippi air. Yeah I know it's a bit warmm but it's 1000x more therapeutic than sitting in the infected A/C watching Don Lemon and pissing your panties.
"So, killing someone who steals is punishable by death?"
I'm not sure you said what you thought you meant.
8:22 - I have no problem with the death penalty for theft. Reason #1 it would certain cut down on the problem. Reason #2 lawlessness is totally out of control.
A wise man once said "Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."
Too many in our nation are neither moral nor religious.
@8:22
Start with our politicians that lie, cheat, and steal, and I will whole-heartedly be in support.
Actually I'm not a death penalty proponent. The lawlessness and anarchy need to stop though.
The few murderers that are sentenced to death seldom have the penalty carried out. I'm all for it but it seems to be a waste of time and money with the decades upon decades of appeals that go along with it.
