Clarion Ledger is now saying the second woman from Logan's has died.
They also said that they were both white females. Coincidence?

All the Jackson haters with their perception of crime. I live in Jackson, which makes me better than all of you racists who live outside the city limits. The poor woman in the area for business walking from her hotel to Logan's just didn't have a clue the dangerous area she was in, but word will get out soon to others. Remember the woman at the LaQunita on Beasley whose room was robbed, and her poor little dog let out to never be found just recently, too? Thanks, but no thanks. I won't be anywhere near these areas ever, and particularly anywhere in Jackson. It is just not safe anywhere and particularly at night. No wonder people can't give their homes away in north Jackson. Thugs with guns are everywhere.

Sadly, any Ridgeland business that has ingress/egress from County Line Road will be exponentially more likely to have customers become targets like this innocent woman.

He is mentally ill. No need to call everyone a thug. The true question is how he was able to get a gun. Until we address the issue of guns in America, crime will not reduce. The majority of crimes are committed by stolen guns. Over 300 million guns in America. Do we really need that many guns? Hunting and sport use is fine, but everyone doesn't need a gun. Random acts of violence cannot be prevented. But, we can do something about it by limiting their access to weapons.

Sure Ridgeland is in Madison County, but the Logans is feet from Jackon City Limits. I'd call ridgeland a buffer zone. Its sad this has taken place. The lady that was killed at Logans wasn't a rapist or a drug dealer, like the victim you mentioned. She was actually a productive member of society.

Obviously, there is a serious, serious crime element that mostly live within the city of Jackson. However, their crimes do not stop at the Madison and Rankin county lines. Also, being vigilant won't always save you. I don't think any level of vigilance could save anyone from a psychopath shooting from his car. I do know that running and hiding in outlying counties won't solve the problem, because the problem will just continue to creep outside the county lines. We must find a way to stop the criminal element. Not run and hide from it.

The burbs, esp the newer ones like Madison, have implemented guidelines and procedures that allow them to fight this crap without their hands being tied. These poor women that were killed by this savage were both from out of State, and neither had any idea the amount of danger they were putting themselves into when they went to Jackson. Unfortunately, many people who aren't from around here don't seem to comprehend just how dangerous Jackson is, and many end up dead or robbed. We should put up a billboard on the interstates coming into town, warning people how dangerous Jackson is. Similar to what's in Memphis. How many more out of town people are we going to allow to be killed simply because they aren't aware just how third world Jackson is. I feel like as a Christian community we should do more to warn the out of towners that Jackson is deadly dangerous.

This is really concerning regardless where it happens in the metro area. Fondren Unwrapped was last night this could have been much worse if this thug targeted that event.

This situation is a lot more complicated than all of you know. This man was a straight A student at a local community college only a year ago. He was polite and respectful toward all his instructors--black or white. His mother openly wept before an instructor upon learning her son was going to succeed. He was loved by many on this campus. Calling him a thug is a cop out. It allows us to feel better about not devoting more effort to solving the more complicated issues that led to this man's committing these horrifying murders.

He has no prior record. He was on dean's list two years ago.

He was probably on something. He was so amped up that as of 5:00 PM yesterday, the police still had not interviewed him. They want him to be of a clear state of mind when they do.

The word "thug" suggests someone who has made a career of violence and crime. This man was not this. I knew him. A person doesn't become a thug overnight. If your own brother who had lived a respectable life suddenly one day went crazy and killed two random people for no reason at all, you know you wouldn't call him a thug. You would believe something went horribly wrong.

He was until this week. No priors. Deans list in school. I think he screwed with the wrong drugs and went nuts. Now he deserves the death penalty if guilty.

If he's paranoid schizophrenic, he screwed with not taking the right drugs which schizophrenics will do if there isn't someone seeing to it that they take their drugs every day. I don't know what his living situation was but he needed to be living with a family member whose responsibility it was to insure he's taking his drugs. My brother is schizophrenic.

I am not trying to suggest he deserves no punishment for what he's done. He MOST certainly does. However, saying he is a common thug only allows what happened to continue to happen again and again. Drug use and mental illness have got to be dealt with in a more meaningful way than we have approached them for the last several decades. And if his parents knew he was having trouble and did nothing, then they should suffer criminal negligence charges similar to if a psychiatrist, counselor, or priest has to let authorities know something if they fear someone is about to har him or herself or others.
