Irony

Oh, the irony is too rich. The High Priestess of The Jackson Free Press defends Obama's tax hikes:
"Harry, don't buy the red-baiting hype. If you pay taxes, you already participate in some degree of "spreading the wealth." And every time you drive on a highway, you are enjoying the benefits of other people's weath. Or, the many other ways we are all benefitted by the government every day. This country wouldn't be what it is (in its best moments) were it not for "spreading wealth."And let us not forget the Republicans' corporate welfare schemes. posted by ladd on 10/16/08 at 02:08 PM "

If you don't know what I am talking about, go to this post, Jackson Free Press Tax Liens , about the Federal tax liens for over $55,000 representing 18 months worth of unpaid taxes filed on the Jackson Free Press (They have been paid.) at one time.

Ronni Mott's analysis in the same string regarding 401k plans is, er, to put it plainly, f'ing ignorant.

Here you go Ronni. Something to help with your ignorance problem:

In the United States of America, a 401(k) plan allows a worker to save for retirement while deferring income taxes on the saved money and earnings until withdrawal.

Somehow I don't think a new business reporter is going to help the people stuck on stupid over at the JFP.

Fat Harry, 401K plans have never been all they've been cracked up to be. First, they aren't "savings" plans at all; they're investment plans, which, as people are seeing pretty clearly now, rise and fall at the whim of the stock market. And, they are not "tax exempt," they're "tax deferred" plans. After retirement, the income from the plans are taxed at the point you start drawing funds from it as regular income.

There are several problems with 401Ks that should be addressed, although the story MAllen linked to is pretty sketchy on details.

First, unless you have some major catastrophic need, you can't touch it before 59 1/2, without paying major penalties. Who does that benefit other than the plan managers? Second, see above: as investment plans, 401Ks often do not provide any retirement benefits if you're unlucky enough to have picked a bad mix of investments.

People today are completely losing their 401K retirement nest eggs, although you can bet that the fund managers have already gotten their cuts. I saw it happen first hand at WorldCom after the stock tanked. People who had lots of WorldCom stock in their 401K portfolio lost it all, overnight.

The Obama tax "rollbacks" are only "increases" to pre-Bush levels for the top 1 percent of Americans. Call 'em what you want. I'm not even close to that $250,000 annual income. There are plenty of people in that bracket who are ready and willing to pay their fair share.

A new business reporter won't fix that. That is a fundamental disconnect. There is an undercurrent of hostility out there on the left which posits that the rich are using 401(k), IRA and other savings plans to get richer. Richer, as always, at the expense of others though that couldn't be farther from the truth with those personal retirement savings plans.

They are quickly losing credibility over at JFP to those who pay attention. Just yesterday Ladd jumped on the Obama/Daily Kos smear points against Joe the Plumber. She was quick to post a headline saying he wasn't even registered to vote. This was quickly shown to be a lie and a smear by the left wing media. But, does she post a correction and an apology as she so demands from the Clarion Ledger and others all the time in the name of ethical journalism? Oh hell no! She changes the headline, to read that he is a registered republican, and deletes the first few posts in the blog, including the one which points out she is wrong. She is nothing but an echo chamber for the leftist MSM who attack a man who asked Obama a question while he campaigned in his neighborhood once Obama exposed his agenda in a few words; "Spread the Wealth." She can’t argue the merit of the issue, she can only attack. And, to even suggest that McCain should have vetted this guy or that this guy is a shill only shows how unhinged she's become as this race moves forward.

Her fixation on Palin is disturbing. I mean REALLY disturbing. Either she is desperate for attention and is trying to get picked up by the google search engine gods or she is really unhinged by Palin. A Jackblog post about her daughter told you all you needed to know.

Speaking of Irony, Kingfish, your fixation on Ladd is disturbing. I mean REALLY disturbing.

Tell her to quit lying, engaging in smears, and getting her facts straight and the posts her criticizing her will stop.

Your whining doesn't stand up to analysis anyway. In case you haven't noticed, the Clarion Ledger catches heat from me on a regular basis and I even throw some shots at WAPT recently.

in fact, I just looked at this month's posts and guess what? The criticism between the JFP and Clarion Ledger was split evenly. Of course, the CL doesn't do things like call Palin white trash, devote 80% of their posts to Palin, accuse JFP cartoonists of Plagiarism, and bash the JFP for not paying its taxes while the JFP blares its financial problems all over its website.

Yet I'm the problem. Yeah.

If we could just get the C-L fixated w/ K'fish, then the Circle would be Unbroken. . .by and by, Lord.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
