Does WAPT want to get a witness in the Hideway homicides killed? WAPT reported yesterday:
Newly obtained 911 dispatch audio captures reports of two people shot inside The Hideaway nightclub in Jackson during a deadly shooting that left two people dead and six others injured. In the audio obtained by 16 WAPT News, a dispatcher reports receiving information about two shooting victims as emergency responders were being sent to the scene. “I got a black female shot to the chest, and I got a black male shot to the head. We’re gonna be right in front of the Hideaway,” the dispatcher says. In a separate transmission, another dispatcher says they were being told the shooting happened inside the nightclub. “I’m being advised that it happened on the inside the Hideaway,” the dispatcher says. The shooting happened early Sunday morning, Nov. 1, during a Halloween party. Police say two men wearing ski masks entered the nightclub, and at least one suspect opened fire on a crowd gathered on the dance floor. The victims were identified as 20-year-old Lovdai Poindexter and 18-year-old Jada Henderson. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Six other people were injured. The dispatch audio comes after 16 WAPT News spoke with Lyft driver xxxxxxx xxxxxxxx, who says he called 911 hours before the shooting after seeing a group of armed men outside the nightclub. Xxxxxx says he dropped off four Jackson State University students at The Hideaway around 9:30 p.m. Saturday. As he was leaving, he says traffic left him stuck near the club. Xxxxxxx says he saw seven men outside, some wearing masks, and heard one of them threaten to kill someone. “I’m gonna kill somebody tonight,” Xxxxxx recalled hearing. Xxxxxxx says he drove farther down the street to get away from the group before calling 911 at approximately 9:40 p.m. Saturday. He also described seeing what he called “long guns and AR’s” among the weapons carried by the men. His call was made hours before the deadly shooting. WAPT mentioned the driver's name no less than five times in the story. Good job, WAPT, good job. Hope this guy doesn't get killed because you just had to show what you know.
